Chapter 129 SKATING INTO TROUBLE

Chapter 129 SKATING INTO TROUBLE
Godiva POV

“What do you mean we should get Jerald involved?” I asked curiously.

“Jerald is Hakeem’s friend, not just a friend, but a childhood friend...” Dina pointed out.

“Clearly they ain’t childhood friends since Hakeem grew up here and Jerald grew up in the big city,” I countered, cutting her short.

“Girl, regardless of what it is, Jerald can help us out,” Dina insisted confidently.

“What makes you so sure Jerald would leave the big city and travel all the way here for me?” I retorted.

“Obviously because he loves you,” Dina teased with a smile.

“I’m no longer sure of that. After all, I’ve neglected him for a while and all of a sudden, because I need help, I’ll remember him? I don’t think he’ll look my way,” I admitted dispiritedly.

“Well, do you still love him?” Dina asked anxiously, waiting for my response.

“Yes, I do,” I confessed hesitantly.

“Awwwn,” Alex and Dina chorused.

“Since you both still love each other, call and ask for his help,” Dina urged.

“Oh no, I won’t. I’ll apologize for my wrongs, not try to get back to him just to help me,” I argued, glaring at Dina.

“Aww, you’re so considerate,” Alex teased, laughing.

“Shut up, Alex. You don’t even know what we’re talking about,” Dina mocked, sticking out her tongue at him.

“Sorry to disappoint you, Miss, but I know. She told me all about their charade, and even before you did, I knew she couldn’t forget him,” Alex declared confidently, ignoring the signals and gestures I was throwing at him.

“Wow, Div, so you were cheating on me here with Alex. No wonder you stopped talking to me since you got here,” Dina lamented in her usual drama queen manner.

“Don’t do that, girl. If I wasn’t schooling, eating, or sleeping, I was talking to you,” I defended, smiling at the dramatic way she walked away from me.

I was about to say something else in my defense when Alex suddenly burst out laughing at the two of us. We immediately dropped the drama and chased after him until we got home.

The next day, Dina and I were woken up by godmother at exactly 10:34 a.m.

“You girls should wake up,” godmother bickered, dragging the duvet off our bodies.

“Godmother, isn’t it a bit too early?” Dina groaned, struggling for the duvet while godmother forcefully pulled it away.

“It’s not early. It’s already 10:35, and I know you have a competition to prepare for,” godmother announced before walking out.

“What! 10:35?” Dina shrieked as we hurriedly jumped off the bed and rushed to the bathroom.

After bathing, we went downstairs for breakfast where godmother and Alex were already waiting for us.

“Good morning,” Dina and I chorused with smiles as we took our seats.

“How was your long night?” godmother teased sarcastically as we served ourselves breakfast.

“I heard from Alex you were going to practice before the competition by 3:00 p.m.,” she continued.

“We were supposed to, but waking up this late made us feel lazy,” I admitted with a smile.

“So, what are your plans for today aside from the competition?” godmother asked curiously.

“We’re hanging out with Tyler and Trevor before the competition,” Dina explained.

After breakfast, we chatted for a long while before stepping out to meet the twins.

“I almost thought you guys weren’t coming,” Tyler complained the moment we approached them.

“Easy, guy. Alex delayed us,” Dina accused, throwing Alex under the bus while he stood there completely defenseless.

While Trevor and Alex kept talking about their girlfriends, who I wasn’t so sure existed, Tyler continued teaching us stunts to use during the competition.

We finally dispersed a few minutes past 2:00 p.m. to get ready for the skate competition.

Dina and I wore black jorts, Adidas sneakers, and shirts with the inscription “I’ll Skate Until I Die.”

We were running so short on time that we forgot to kiss godmother goodbye as we left the house with our skateboards in hand.

We weren’t expecting the crowd we met at the park. I didn’t think All Saints was that populated until that day. Lots of people sat in groups with their skateboards, waiting for the competition to begin.

We sat together with Tyler, Trevor, Alex, and Dina, just chatting before Tyler suggested we attempt some of the stunts he had taught us.

We got up with our skateboards and moved to the skate park where others were equally practicing. We began by skating around the park before transitioning into the stunts. In a short while, all eyes turned toward us and everyone started whispering, probably wondering who we were.

Taking a cue from the curious crowd of spectators, Dina and I stopped skating almost immediately, as though we had planned it.

We weren’t expecting the wild claps and cheers that followed.

The applause continued for over a minute before it finally died down.

As we walked back to where Tyler and Alex sat with their mouths hanging open, lots of people shook our hands while studying us curiously.

“How are you girls this good?” Tyler demanded the second we approached them.

“We aren’t newbie skaters, bro,” Dina replied coldly, making all of us burst into laughter.

“Then why didn’t you skate this well the day we came to practice together?” Tyler protested, looking betrayed.

“That’s simply because it was our first time in this park,” I explained with a grin.

“Why then did you let me teach you all those stunts when you clearly know more stunts than I do?” Tyler complained dramatically.

“There’s never an end to learnin...” Dina began before Alex interrupted.

“Can I please take a selfie with you girls before you go viral?” Alex pleaded dramatically, handing us his phone.

“Stop teasing us,” Dina laughed aloud.

“That was really awesome. I can see fear in the eyes of the other skaters,” Alex mocked with a smile before we were interrupted by a huge guy who later introduced himself as Vinny.

“Can I join this party?” Vinny asked with a smile.

“If we say no, will you leave us?” Dina fired back coldly.

“Nope, I won’t,” Vinny replied, winking at me.

I almost threw up at the gory sight.

“You’re welcome, bro,” Trevor and Alex chorused, shaking hands with him.

“You girls are really good at skating,” Vinny complimented, flashing another smile.

“Thank you,” we chorused coldly, keeping our eyes fixed on those skating.

“I guess you’re not from here?” Vinny probed, looking directly at me.

“Obviously,” I answered nonchalantly.

Silence lingered for a moment before he spoke again.

“Please, can I speak to you aside for a second?” Vinny requested politely.

“Hell no, she ain’t going nowhere,” Dina barked, pulling me closer to herself.

“Don’t worry, girl. He needs to be put in his place,” I whispered reassuringly as she gradually let go.

I moved a few steps away from them, almost to the exit.

“What is it? You can talk here,” I stated arrogantly, stopping abruptly.

“Alright,” he muttered, licking his lips.

“Are you open-minded?” he asked, suddenly grabbing my waist.
