Chapter 30 A Million-Dollar Gift
"Awake?" Luca noticed Olivia standing not far away, his tone softer than before. "Come have breakfast."
Olivia hesitated for a moment, but remembering they had made peace the night before, she walked over and sat across from Luca.
Luca slid a small box toward her. "See if you like it."
Olivia looked confused. She opened the box and found an upscale diamond bracelet inside. The centerpiece was a stunning pink diamond, easily worth at least a million dollars.
"Is this for me?" Olivia was surprised, not expecting such a generous gesture from him.
"Just a small gift." Luca picked up the bracelet and gently took her wrist. "Let's get along peacefully from now on. Consider this a peace offering."
Olivia had never received a gift from Luca before, let alone had him personally put jewelry on her.
She wanted to pull her hand back, but Luca turned domineering again. "You can't refuse me. You have to wear it."
He carefully fastened the bracelet around her wrist.
The cool diamonds looked stunning, sparkling beautifully on Olivia's hand.
A few servants nearby exchanged quiet glances, clearly shocked.
The master actually gave the madam such an expensive gift and even put it on her himself!
This was something they had never seen before. Could it be that their relationship had improved?
At that moment, footsteps echoed from the doorway.
Windy appeared with a sweet smile, holding a delicate gift bag. "Luca, I brought you…"
Her words trailed off as she saw the scene in the dining room. Her steps halted.
Windy stared intently at the beautiful diamond bracelet on Olivia's wrist, noticing how close their heads were, their posture intimate.
Olivia quickly pulled her hand back and distanced herself from Luca.
Luca probably didn't want Windy to see this, right?
Luca hadn't expected her to pull away so eagerly. His expression darkened instantly.
Did she really not want to be associated with him? Even wearing a bracelet made her want to hide. The good mood he'd had all morning vanished.
Windy put on a fake smile and walked over. "Luca, here's your tie. The store delivered it to my place today. How could they have my address for something you custom-ordered?"
Windy deliberately said this for Olivia to hear, a hint of provocation in her eyes.
A custom order from Luca, accidentally sent to Windy's address—it didn't take much to see how close they must be.
But Olivia didn't react to Windy's taunt at all. She just kept her head down, sipping her milk quietly, as if she hadn't heard a thing.
Olivia did feel a bit uncomfortable inside, but she kept reminding herself to stay calm for her health and to get through these three weeks peacefully. She couldn't let anything bother her.
Luca took the tie from Windy and casually set it aside without even glancing at it. His attention was entirely on Olivia's reaction.
Olivia kept her head down, silent, as if hurt by how close he seemed to Windy.
It suddenly hit him that Olivia's cold attitude toward him these past few days might be because she misunderstood his relationship with Windy.
That meant Olivia still cared about him.
Luca's anger faded, and he softened a bit. Only then did he spare Windy a glance. "Wait for me in the car. I'll be there soon."
Windy hadn't expected his focus to remain on Olivia. She clenched her fists, unwilling to accept it. "Alright, I'll wait outside. We'll go to work together."
As soon as Windy left, Luca hurriedly explained, "Windy picked out that tie for me a while back. I don't know about the address mix-up. It's probably the store's mistake. Don't take it to heart."
Olivia looked up, not understanding why Luca felt the need to explain to her.
Was there even a point to explaining?
After the divorce, they could be together anyway.
Olivia spoke calmly. "Luca, it doesn't bother me. Whether the tie ended up at Windy's place or you were there yourself, I'm not upset. Didn't we agree to spend the rest of our time together peacefully?"
Luca's frown deepened.
Olivia smiled at him. "You don't need to explain anything to me in the future. I'm not interested."
The urgency on Luca's face disappeared, replaced by anger again.
He didn't even know what was wrong with himself. From last night until now, his emotions had been completely controlled by Olivia.
He was happy because of her, relaxed because of her, and angry because of her too!
And how could Olivia not be upset at all!
She was his wife. How could she stay so calm seeing another woman bring him a tie?
Luca wanted to say something, but couldn't find a way to argue. Frustrated, he stood up, grabbed his car keys, and stormed out.
Olivia watched his retreating figure, feeling confused. Luca was getting harder and harder to understand.
She stopped thinking about it. As she lifted her hand, the bracelet felt cold and heavy on her wrist.
She frowned, wanting to take it off, but remembering Luca's temper, she figured he'd be mad if he found out she'd done that. Better to keep it on.
Olivia's phone suddenly rang. It was a deputy director from the project department. "Olivia, sorry to disturb your rest. We've got some bidding meetings for new projects coming up. They're really important, and we need you to host them. Are you feeling up to it? Can you come to the meeting?"
Olivia thought for a moment. She had been resting well these past few days, and her emotions hadn't been too affected. Work couldn't be delayed forever, especially for such critical project meetings.
"No problem. Set a time for the meeting, and I'll be there on time."
That afternoon, Olivia went to the meeting.
Over the years at the company, she had often coordinated with various departments and was very familiar with the project team. Once she got into work mode, Olivia didn't look like a frail pregnant woman at all. She offered many professional insights on the projects.
Any concerns or problems the team had were quickly resolved.
After the meeting, everyone gathered around her, showering her with praise.
"Olivia, thanks to your coming to the project department, we've got a clear direction for the meeting!"
"You've got such a sharp sense of market trends. You're amazing! With you here, we don't have to worry about performance."
Olivia just smiled modestly.
At the project department entrance, someone was standing there—Windy. Her smile looked a bit dark.
"Olivia, congratulations! The meeting was a success! Looks like you get along really well with everyone," Windy said as she walked in, her smile turning more genuine.
Olivia didn't feel like chatting and just gave a cool nod. "I'm just doing my job. No need for compliments."
Everyone in the project department knew that Windy had taken over Olivia's position to become Luca's secretary.
So, they didn't give Windy a warm reception.
