Chapter 190 Share a Ward
Olivia's heart ached, and her eyes welled up right away.
He was hurt so badly himself, but he still only thought about saving her.
She remembered how firmly he held her earlier and how he said he'd looked for her for five years. Her heart felt full—warm and painful at the same time.
The doctor finished treating the wound and said, "The patient needs good rest, no more overworking, and it's best if someone watches him all the time."
Olivia said right away, "I'll take care of him. Doctor, can you get us a double room?"
The assistant was stunned. "Madam, this..."
"I have to take care of him," Olivia said firmly. "He got like this saving me. I can't ignore him."
The assistant looked at her determined eyes, then at Luca out cold on the bed, and finally nodded. "Okay, I'll set it up now."
Soon, the double room was ready.
Olivia sat by Luca's bed, quietly looking at his pale face, her heart full of guilt.
She reached out and gently touched the back of his hand. It was cold too, just like hers when she was out.
"Sorry," she whispered. "It's all my fault, making you suffer so much."
She stayed right by the bed, never leaving. She'd wipe his face now and then, tuck in the blanket corners, afraid he'd get cold.
She tasted the porridge the assistant brought first to check the temperature, made sure it wasn't hot, then set it aside, waiting for him to wake up.
After a while, Luca's eyelashes fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.
He looked around in confusion. When he saw Olivia by the bed, his eyes lit up. "You're still here?"
"I've been here the whole time." Olivia smiled, her voice soft. "How do you feel? Any pain?"
Luca shook his head and tried to sit up, but Olivia held him down. "Don't move. The doctor said you need good rest."
She picked up the porridge, scooped a spoonful, blew on it, and held it to his mouth. "Hungry? Have some porridge."
Luca watched her gentle moves, warmth filling his heart. He obediently opened his mouth and swallowed it.
"How's the taste?" Olivia asked.
"Very good." Luca smiled, eyes full of affection. "Anything you feed me tastes good."
Olivia's face turned a little red. She didn't say anything, just kept feeding him.
They didn't talk much, but it felt peaceful between them.
After the porridge, Luca rested a bit and felt better.
He looked at Olivia, hesitated, then said, "I need to talk to the assistant outside. Be right back."
"Okay, take it slow." Olivia nodded and helped him get out of bed slowly.
Luca stepped outside the room. The assistant was already waiting.
"Boss, how do you feel?" the assistant asked quickly.
"I'm fine." Luca waved it off. "Any update on the psychologist? News?"
The assistant sighed. "Boss, I contacted the top experts the doctor recommended, but it's not great. There aren't many in this field. Two are abroad on study trips and can't come back soon. The other is booked up—at least a month wait."
Luca frowned. "Keep looking! Do whatever it takes to reach them. Money's no issue."
"Boss, actually..." The assistant hesitated, then said, "I think things are good like this. Madam has amnesia now, but she doesn't push you away and even wants to care for you. You can start fresh. If the memories come back and they're bad—like your old misunderstandings—she might shut you out again like before. She's so gentle now, treats you great. Maybe without the memories, you can still have a good life together."
Luca went quiet.
He'd thought about what the assistant said.
But he didn't want Olivia living in the dark forever. She deserved to know her past, all the details between them, good or bad.
"No." Luca said firmly. "Memories are part of her. Even the unhappy ones—she should decide if she wants them. And I believe she wants her past back, to remember Leo as a kid, to know what happened between us."
Olivia, who had come out for water, heard all this.
She stood in the doorway, her heart stirring.
She walked in and said to Luca, "Actually, I think we should let the memories come back naturally—or not."
Luca and the assistant were both stunned.
"I'm good like this," Olivia smiled. "No need to stress over the past. Every day feels easy. Even without memories, I can get to know you again, get to know Leo again, start our life over. The past is done. No point dwelling. What matters is now and the future."
Luca looked at her calm face, touched. "You really mean that?"
"Yeah." Olivia nodded. "I don't want to wear myself out over the past or let it mess up what we have now."
The assistant let out a breath. "It's great Madam sees it that way."
Luca smiled too. "Okay, we'll do it your way. No forcing it—let it happen."
The assistant said wisely, "Then boss, madam, I'll get back to work. Call me if you need anything."
After the assistant left, only Luca and Olivia were in the room.
It got quiet for a moment.
Olivia hesitated, then said, "Let's... talk about Leo?"
Mentioning their son made Luca's eyes soften right away. "Sure. What do you want to know?"
"How is he now? Does he still love drawing like Sophia said?" Olivia asked, eyes full of hope.
"Yeah," Luca said with a smile. "He's with grandpa and grandma, happy every day. Draws whenever he gets a chance, and he's really good. He drew a family portrait, says he'll give it to us when we get back. He just learned to ride a bike and bugs them to take him to the park every day—he looks so proud. And he's super sensible. He knows I'm looking for you, never fusses, even comforts grandpa and grandma. Says daddy will bring mommy back for sure."
Olivia listened, smiling without realizing, but tears filled her eyes.
She could picture Leo's cute face, her heart aching to see him.
"I miss him so much," she said softly.
"We'll see him soon." Luca took her hand. "Once we're better, we'll head home right away."
Olivia nodded, hesitated, then asked, "Why... why did we split up before?"
