Chapter 185 Memory Fragments
The next morning, when Sophia came to wake her up, she got a shock seeing her swollen red eyes.
"Miss Ross, what's wrong? Did you cry?" Sophia hurried over, her voice full of worry.
Olivia grabbed her hand like it was a lifeline. "Sophia, I had that dream again last night. I saw the little boy. He kept crying and calling for his mom. It hurt my heart so bad. And there was a man standing nearby, looking at me so gently. Sophia, tell me, this isn't just a dream, right? I really have a child, don't I? Who is that man?"
Sophia shook all over from the questions. She avoided Olivia's eyes and didn't dare look at her. "Miss Ross, stop thinking about it. It's really just a dream. If you keep this up, Mr. Compson won't be happy."
"I don't care if he's happy or not!" Olivia shouted, breaking down. "I just want the truth! I live in confusion every day. I don't know who I am or what kind of life I had. It hurts too much! Sophia, please, tell me? For my sake, and for that child!"
She held Sophia's hand tight, tears falling even harder, her voice full of desperation and begging.
Sophia saw her like this and started crying too. Her eyes were full of pity, but she still shook her head. "I'm sorry, Miss Ross, I can't say. Mr. Compson told me not to talk. If I do, he won't let me off. I have a family to support. I can't take the risk."
Olivia felt a sharp pain explode in her temple. Her vision went black for a moment.
Those fuzzy bits flashed in her mind again, but they were too blurry, like they were behind a fog. She couldn't grab hold of them.
"Ah! I can't remember!" She held her head and crouched down, shaking from the pain. Everything in front of her got more and more blurry.
Finally, she couldn't hold on. Her vision went completely black, and she passed out.
When she woke up again, Olivia was lying on the soft big bed. Her headache had eased a bit.
Seeing Jason beside her, Olivia frowned. "Where's Sophia?"
Jason gave her a deep look. "She didn't take good care of you, so I punished her. Let her think about what she did."
"Punished?" Olivia's heart tightened. "Why?"
Jason narrowed his eyes and smiled. "I told her to come take good care of you, but she didn't, did she?"
Olivia felt something was off and wanted to say more, but Jason changed the subject. "Baby, forget about others. Just worry about yourself. Your face looks so pale." He reached out to touch her cheek.
But just as he got close, Olivia felt sick to her stomach and turned her head away on instinct.
They both froze at the move.
Olivia was surprised too. Why did she feel repulsed by Jason's touch?
He was her fiancé, but it just felt wrong, like bugs crawling in her heart.
"Sorry," she apologized quickly, feeling guilty. "I didn't mean to. I just woke up and feel off."
Jason's eyes darkened. He felt bad inside but forced himself to stay calm. "It's okay, I get it. You just woke up and you're weak. Sleep some more."
He stood up, turned, and left the room. His back looked a bit lonely.
Olivia watched him go, her mind a mess.
Who was she really?
Who was Luca?
Did she really have a child?
Questions spun in her head, giving her a splitting headache.
After a while, the door opened softly.
Olivia thought it was Jason and looked up. It was Sophia.
Her eyes were red, her face had faint bruises, and her lip was split. She looked rough.
"Sophia!" Olivia sat up fast, full of guilt. "Are you okay? Did he do something to you?"
Sophia shook her head and walked to the bed. Her voice was hoarse. "I'm fine, Miss Ross. Sorry to worry you."
Olivia took her hand and looked at the injuries on her face. Tears fell. "It's my fault. If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't go through this. But I really want to know the truth. I feel like I forgot the most important thing in my life."
Sophia saw her crying so hard and broke down completely.
She sighed, choking up. "Miss Ross, actually... you're not Jason's fiancée at all."
"You have a son named Leo. He's five this year, super cute, loves drawing, and he's really good at it."
"That man named Luca is your husband and Leo's real dad."
"You three were so in love before. You had your own studio, and life was happy."
"I don't know why you lost your memory or what Jason did to you. I just know he brought you here to keep you with him."
Sophia's words hit Olivia like a thunderbolt in her brain.
A son? A husband??
"It's all true?" Olivia gripped Sophia's hand so hard her knuckles turned white. She was scared this was another dream.
Sophia nodded through tears. "It's true. Jason's afraid you'll remember the past and go back to Luca."
Olivia's tears wouldn't stop. Her heart ached and hurt, but there was also excitement from getting something back.
"Where's Leo now? Is he okay?" Olivia asked urgently, her heart full of worry for her son.
"Leo should be with Luca," Sophia said. She didn't know the full story but tried to comfort her. "Luca loves him so much, he'll take good care of him. Don't worry too much."
Olivia nodded, but she still couldn't let go. A five-year-old must miss his mom badly.
"Sophia, thank you for telling me." Olivia wiped her tears. "Don't worry, I won't let Jason know it was you."
She knew how big a risk Sophia took. If Jason found out, it would be bad.
Sophia let out a breath and smiled a little, grateful. "Thank you, Miss Ross. I was so scared Mr. Compson would blame me."
"I need some time alone to sort this out." Olivia said. She needed time to take in this huge secret.
"Okay, I'll go. Call me if you need anything." Sophia nodded and closed the door gently.
Olivia was alone in the room. She sat on the bed, her mind in chaos.
Why did Jason do this? He wasn't her fiancé, but he made up this huge lie.
Were Luca and Leo looking for her right now?
She had to find a way to contact them, had to get out of here.
But security was so tight. Getting out wouldn't be easy.
She'd have to pretend she knew nothing and wait for a chance.
Olivia took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down.
