Chapter 18 First Time He Left Windy Behind
Luca was completely enraged by Olivia's provocative attitude. Right now, he felt that Olivia was being unreasonable, going against him just for an outsider.
Luca's eyes darkened. "Take Emma out! Now!"
With that, he supported Windy and headed to see the doctor.
Olivia's breath caught, and she froze in place.
He didn't care about her at all…
With clear orders, the bodyguards didn't hesitate anymore.
One of them tried to bypass Olivia to grab Emma.
"Don't touch her!" Olivia screamed, pushing the bodyguard with all her strength.
Seeing this, another bodyguard stepped forward to restrain Olivia.
The scene turned chaotic in an instant.
Emma cursed and struggled.
Olivia used every ounce of her strength to protect Emma, grappling with the bodyguards.
She was already weak, anemic, and her emotions were running high. After the intense struggle, her vision blurred, and her breathing became rapid.
"Olivia, don't worry about me! Go lie down!" Emma's voice trembled with fear.
Olivia gritted her teeth, refusing to listen and holding on desperately.
At that moment, one of the bodyguards accidentally used too much force.
Olivia was pushed away, her back slamming hard against the doorframe. She cried out in pain. She had already been barely holding on, and now her body couldn't take it anymore. She collapsed softly to the ground.
"Olivia!" Emma screamed in worry.
The bodyguards turned around, stunned.
Taking advantage of their distraction, Emma rushed over to hold Olivia, shouting, "Get a doctor now!"
Meanwhile, Luca carried Windy and hurried into another hospital room.
The doctor immediately came over to clean, disinfect, and stop the bleeding from Windy's wound.
The wound wasn't too deep, but there was a lot of blood, making it look serious.
Windy kept sobbing quietly, clutching Luca's hand as if he were her only support. "Luca, it hurts so much… Will it leave a scar?"
"No, the doctor will take care of it," Luca comforted her, feeling even more annoyed with Olivia and Emma. They had gone too far.
"Luca…" Windy wiped her tears and cautiously spoke. "Does Olivia really want that brooch so badly? It's something my mom left for me. Can we not give it to her?"
Her tears welled up again, making her look even more pitiful.
Luca frowned slowly.
In that moment, countless thoughts flashed through his mind.
He remembered how Windy had saved his life back then and felt reluctant to ask her for it. But Olivia's stance was firm, and Emma had said the brooch originally belonged to Olivia's mother…
After a moment of silence, Luca shook his head, softening his tone. "Windy, that brooch means something different to Olivia. It belonged to her mother. I'll compensate you with something else, but I need to give this brooch to her."
A flicker of unwillingness passed through Windy's eyes, but she quickly hid it and nodded. "Okay, as long as Olivia calms down and stops blaming or targeting me, I'm willing to give it to her."
She took out a red velvet box from her bag and handed it to Luca.
Luca took the box, but he didn't feel relieved.
Windy had changed clothes in the office, so they couldn't check the surveillance footage. Now, there was no way to find out who altered the documents.
If this matter were swept under the rug, it could create a hidden risk for the company.
Luca thought of Olivia's sarcastic words.
Could it be… Was Windy really the one who changed the documents?
No, that's impossible.
She's so gentle and kind; she wouldn't do something like that.
Luca pushed those thoughts away. Just as he put the box away, a bodyguard rushed in, looking panicked. "Sir, bad news! Madam… Madam fainted!"
Luca's heart clenched. He stood up immediately, not even glancing at Windy, stuffed the box into his pocket, and rushed out!
Luca hurried back to Olivia's room.
Jason was half-kneeling by the bed, checking Olivia's vital signs.
Emma, with red, teary eyes, glared at Luca, her face full of anger. "You let your bodyguards lay hands on your own wife. Are you even human? If anything happens to Olivia, I won't let you off!"
The bodyguards touched Olivia?
Luca's mind went blank. He hadn't even considered that the bodyguards would actually lay a hand on her!
He had been angry earlier, only thinking about getting Emma out of the way and rushing Windy to get treated. But he forgot how stubborn Olivia was—she would definitely fight to stop them!
Luca looked at the uneasy bodyguards outside the door, his gaze turning icy. "Who told you to touch her?"
The bodyguards lowered their heads, stammering, "We were just following your orders to take Miss Emma away. Madam tried to stop us, and we…"
Luca cut them off coldly. "So, you thought it was okay to ignore Olivia's condition and lay hands on her?"
"Sir, we thought you didn't care about Madam anymore. You're getting divorced next month…"
"Shut up!" Luca interrupted, a strange panic rising in his chest.
Even the bodyguards assumed their divorce was set and started disrespecting Olivia.
"Who gave you the right to assume what I think!" Luca's voice was filled with anger. "As long as she is still my legal wife, you must respect her as you respect me! Both of you, go to HR now, settle your accounts, and leave immediately! You're never to be hired again!"
The two bodyguards didn't dare argue and left with their heads down.
After dealing with the bodyguards, Luca took a deep breath and walked into the room.
Emma, seeing that he had handled the situation, finally seemed less angry.
Jason had finished his check-up and was frowning as he took notes.
"How is she?" Luca's voice was tense.
Jason's gaze was cold, carrying a hint of reproach. "She got too emotional, her blood pressure dropped too fast, and with her anemia, she couldn't handle it and fainted. I've given her medication, and she's stable for now, but she needs complete rest. She can't be stressed or upset anymore."
Luca clenched his fists.
Anemia.
He didn't even know Olivia's health was this bad.
Suddenly, Luca remembered how Olivia, as his secretary, always handled every task perfectly, often working overtime.
Was that the reason she didn't take care of herself?
A heavy feeling settled in his chest.
Jason added, his tone laced with suppressed anger, "I don't know what's going on between you two, but Olivia's body is very weak right now. Even if you're getting divorced, please consider her poor health. At the very least, don't keep hurting her."
Luca felt uneasy hearing this, and his tone turned sharp. "This is my family matter. I'll take care of my wife. I don't need outsiders telling me what to do."
"You'd better. She's fainted twice because of you," Jason said mockingly, ignoring him as he picked up the medical chart and left the room.
Emma also wiped her tears and walked up to Luca. "Luca, just let her go. Don't let her get hurt anymore because of you and the people around you. Let her live in peace, okay?"
With red eyes, she left too.
Finally, only Luca and Olivia were left in the room.
