Chapter 166 Being Controlled
Jason gritted his teeth. "Olivia, I'm sorry. I really have no choice."
"Let us go!" Olivia struggled to open the car door, but it was locked tight. "Jason, open the door right now, or I'll call the police!"
"Calling the police won't help." Jason gave a bitter smile. "This place is so remote. By the time they find us, we'll be at the villa. And I haven't hurt you or Leo. I just want you to give me a chance."
Olivia looked at his stubborn face and felt total despair.
She knew Jason was blinded by love right now. Nothing she said would get through to him.
"Let me think about it a bit more, okay?" Olivia softened her tone to buy time. "We'll go back first. I'll think seriously about what you said and give you an answer."
"No." Jason refused without a second thought. "I can't wait any longer. I'm afraid if we go back, you'll run to Luca. Everything's ready at the villa. We'll stay there a few days until you figure things out, then come back."
Olivia wanted to say more, but she noticed her phone was gone.
She checked her pockets and rummaged through her bag, but no sign of it.
"Where's my phone?" Olivia looked up at Jason, her eyes full of accusation. "Did you take it?"
Jason didn't deny it. He said flatly, "I took your phone for safekeeping. I'll give it back when we get there."
"You!" Olivia was so angry she couldn't speak.
This Jason had planned everything. He took her phone to stop her from contacting anyone outside.
The car started up again and drove deeper into the mountains.
Olivia leaned back in her seat, angry and anxious, but completely helpless.
She could only hope the car would reach the destination soon, so she could find a way to contact Luca.
After about half an hour, the car finally stopped in front of a luxurious private villa.
High walls surrounded the villa, and two bodyguards in black suits stood at the gate. It looked heavily guarded.
Olivia's heart sank to the bottom. Jason was dead set on keeping her and Leo here.
"We're here." Jason unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to Olivia. "Let's get out. Food and rooms are ready inside."
Olivia didn't move. She stared at him coldly. "Give me my phone back."
Jason hesitated, then pulled her phone from his pocket and handed it over. "Here, but the signal's bad here. You might not get through."
Olivia took the phone and lit up the screen. Sure enough, no signal, no network.
She opened her contacts. Only Jason and the driver's numbers were left. Luca, Emma, the kindergarten teacher—all gone.
Her usual apps were restricted and wouldn't open.
"Jason, you've gone too far!" Olivia shook with anger. If Leo weren't there, she'd rush at him right then.
"I'm doing this for your own good." Jason sounded a bit helpless. "I don't want anyone bothering us. I just want you to think quietly about our relationship."
"This is confinement! Illegal detention!" Olivia shouted.
"Call it what you want." Jason stopped arguing, got out, went around the car, and carefully picked up Leo.
Leo was still asleep. He didn't wake when lifted, just snuggled toward the warmth.
Olivia looked at her sleeping son, her heart aching.
She couldn't let Leo get hurt. For now, she'd go along with Jason and wait for a chance to escape.
She took a deep breath, pushed down her anger, opened the door, and followed Jason into the villa.
The villa was luxuriously decorated, with designer furniture and thick carpets that muffled footsteps.
But Olivia had no mood to notice. She felt only fear and worry.
"I'll take you to your room to rest." Jason, holding Leo, said to Olivia. "It's on the second floor, nice setup. You can get some good sleep."
Olivia said nothing and silently followed him upstairs.
Jason carried Leo into a spacious bedroom, gently laid him on the soft bed, and tucked him in.
"You rest in this room. There's another one next door for Leo," Jason said.
"No, I want to sleep in the same room as Leo." Olivia said right away. She didn't want to be apart from him even for a minute.
"Okay." Jason didn't argue. "Take good care of Leo. I'll be downstairs. Shout if you need anything."
He started to say more, but Olivia cut him off. "Go out. We want to rest."
Before Jason could react, Olivia shut the door and locked it.
She leaned against the door, finally relaxing a little.
She was still confined here, but at least she and Leo were safe, with some private space.
Jason stood outside, staring at the closed door, full of disappointment and helplessness.
He knew Olivia hated him now, but he didn't regret it.
As long as she stayed with him, he'd take her hate willingly.
"Guard it well. Don't let anyone near the second floor or let Olivia and the kid leave the villa," Jason told the bodyguard at the stairs.
"Yes, sir," the bodyguard replied respectfully.
Jason went downstairs and sat on the living room sofa, his mind a mess.
He didn't know if this would win Olivia's heart.
But he knew he had no way out now.
In the room, Olivia went to the bed and looked at sleeping Leo, full of guilt.
It was all because of her that Leo got dragged into this and had to suffer with her.
She gently touched Leo's head and swore to herself she'd find a way to escape soon and take him back to safety.
Once Leo was fast asleep, Olivia quietly got up and searched the room.
She hoped to find something to contact the outside world, like a phone or computer.
But she checked every drawer and cabinet—nothing.
The room had only a bed, a wardrobe, a table, and some decorations. No communication devices.
Olivia went to the window and pulled back the curtain. Outside was a dense forest, no way out.
Bodyguards patrolled around the villa. Escaping through the window was impossible.
Plus, it was the second floor, with hard concrete below. Jumping could injure her and alert the guards.
Olivia's heart sank deeper. Were she and Leo really stuck here?
