Chapter 163 Cooperation
Windy was stunned by the slap, tears falling even harder. "Mom, I didn't know it would end up like this. I thought Luca would always believe me."
"You thought?" Patricia sneered. "You think Luca's an idiot? He'll find out sooner or later! Stay here. I'll go figure something out." Patricia turned and left the ward.
She couldn't reach her partners now, couldn't move her assets, and Luca knew the truth. She had to come up with a plan fast, or she and her daughter were finished.
Windy sat on the bed, covering her face, sobbing hard.
She regretted it all—taking credit for Olivia's work back then, clinging to Luca, scheming against Olivia.
If she hadn't done those things, would she be in this mess now?
But it was too late. Nothing could be fixed.
After crying for a while, an idea hit Windy.
She thought of Jason, the guy who'd always liked Olivia.
Jason wouldn't want Olivia and Luca together either. Maybe he'd team up with her to break them up.
Windy wiped her tears. A spark of hope lit up inside her.
She asked the nurse for a phone right away and called Jason.
The phone rang a few times, then he picked up. Jason sounded puzzled. "Hello, who's this?"
"Dr. Jason, it's me, Windy." Her voice choked up. "I have something important to tell you—about Olivia and Luca."
Jason paused. He hadn't expected her call. "What do you want?"
"I need to meet you in person. It's too big for the phone." Windy said, "I'm on the hospital rooftop. Please come."
She knew Jason cared about Olivia. He'd show up.
Jason hesitated but agreed. "Okay, I'm coming now."
Windy hung up, got out of bed, and headed to the rooftop.
This was her only shot. She hoped Jason would go along with it.
On the rooftop, she sat in a corner, nervous but hopeful.
Jason showed up soon. He looked confused. "What do you want?"
"Dr. Compson, I know you like Olivia." Windy got straight to it. "She's getting back with Luca. Doesn't that worry you?"
Jason's face changed. He didn't speak, but it was clear he agreed.
"Luca doesn't deserve her. He hurt her bad back then, and now he wants her again? Shameless!" Windy said, full of hate. "Now he knows the truth from those days, he'll value her even more. You'll never have a chance."
Jason clenched his fists. Jealousy flashed in his eyes.
He did like Olivia a lot and wanted to be with her. Seeing her get close to Luca bothered him.
"What do you really want?" Jason asked coldly.
"I want to team up." Windy looked him in the eye, dead serious. "We'll split Luca and Olivia for good. I know his secrets and weak spots. Together, we'll make it work."
Jason eyed her warily. "Why should I? You think I'll trust you?"
"You don't have to trust me. Just trust your feelings," Windy said. "Don't you want Olivia? Okay watching her happy with Luca? Team up, break them up, and you can go after her. Good for you, right?"
Jason wavered. He wanted Olivia and hated her with Luca.
But he knew Windy's type. Teaming up could burn him.
"Luca and Olivia together hurts you too." Windy pushed. "He's got too much power. He'll block you from her. Only with me can we use each other and get what we want."
Jason sneered. He hated seeing Olivia with Luca, but working with Windy felt dirty.
"Team up?" He laughed coldly, full of scorn. "Windy, look at yourself. You think you're worth it?"
Windy's smile froze. "Don't you like Olivia? Fine with her and Luca?"
"Who I like is none of your business, liar." Jason stepped closer, looking down at her. "You stole credit for saving his life and lied to Luca for years. Desperate now, want to drag me in? Too naive."
"I want Olivia as you do. Just mutual benefit!" Windy snapped, mad and embarrassed.
"You're just a sad little clown. Lies out, now hunting for company." Jason said firmly. "No team-up. And I won't let you win."
"Jason, you'll regret it! Olivia only has Luca in her heart!" Windy said, furious and desperate.
"Getting her or not is my problem." Jason's eyes went cold. "But hurt Olivia or Leo, and you'll pay big."
Jason turned and walked off, not looking back.
Windy stared at his back, shaking with anger. She slumped in the corner, full of bitterness and hate.
The next morning, Olivia woke early.
She felt calm now, no more confusion—just a bit of excitement.
She got up, went to the kitchen, and made breakfast: custard buns for Leo, and stomach-friendly porridge for her and Luca.
Just as she finished, the doorbell rang.
Olivia paused, thinking it was Luca. Her heart lifted. She hurried to open the door.
But it was Jason. Olivia looked surprised. "Jason? What are you doing here?"
Jason held a gift box and smiled warmly. "Passing by, thought I'd check on you and Leo. Got some toys he likes."
Olivia let him in. "Come sit. Breakfast's ready. Join us?"
"Sure." Jason nodded, came in, and set the box on the living room table.
Leo heard and ran out of the bedroom. He grinned at Jason. "Uncle Jason!"
"Yeah, here to see you." Jason ruffled his hair. "Toys for you. Like 'em?"
"I love them! Thanks, Uncle Jason!" Leo said happily. He ran to the table, opened the box, and pulled out a Transformers toy he'd wanted forever.
Olivia smiled at her son's joy. "Say thank you to Uncle Jason."
"Thanks, Uncle Jason!" Leo said it again, grabbed the toy, and ran off to play.
