Chapter 136 Doubt
Olivia said a few more words of thanks, but seeing that the driver responded politely with little interest in chatting, she didn't push the conversation further.
She just gently reminded him, "Please, when you get back, make sure to thank Mr. LO for me. If I get the chance someday, I'd like to treat him to a meal to show my gratitude."
The driver immediately agreed, "Of course, ma'am, I'll pass on the message exactly as you said."
After that, the driver took Dylan's hand, said a brief goodbye to Olivia and Leo, and left the kindergarten with Dylan.
Leo watched Dylan's retreating figure, tugging at Olivia's hand and swinging it a little. "Mom, Dylan is super nice, just a bit shy. I'll take good care of him from now on, just like Uncle LO told me—to be a little man who looks after his friends!"
Olivia ruffled his hair and smiled, "Leo, you're amazing. You already know how to take care of your friends."
Though her words were warm, the doubts in her heart didn't lessen at all. In fact, they grew heavier.
Holding Leo's hand, she walked toward the parking lot, her mind replaying everything about LO over and over.
First, there were the huge tips for Leo's livestreams, then the sudden appearance at the airport to save Leo, and now, transferring his nephew to Leo's class while gifting such an expensive limited-edition toy.
When you connected all these events, they didn't seem like coincidences at all. It felt more like someone had deliberately planned everything.
How could there be such perfect timing in the world? A mysterious person being so kind to her child, and just happening to have a nephew transfer into the same class?
Olivia sat in the driver's seat, started the car, while Leo sat in the back, happily playing with his race car model.
He chattered away to Olivia about building blocks and playing games with Dylan at school today, his face full of excitement.
Olivia listened to her son, occasionally responding with a few words, but her thoughts were becoming clearer and sharper.
It felt like a heavy weight was sitting in her chest—a nagging mix of worry and doubt.
Back at home, Leo ran to the living room with his race car model to play.
Olivia walked into the kitchen, poured herself a glass of warm water, leaned against the counter, and kept thinking about the situation.
Why did LO transfer his nephew to Leo's class? Was it just to give the kids someone to play with?
But there was no need to be so deliberate about it, or to give such an expensive limited-edition gift, and not even show his face. It just didn't add up.
The only possibility was that LO wanted to use Dylan to learn more about Leo's daily life and create more chances to get close to him.
But why would he do that? If his intentions were good, why hide? Why not let she know who he is?
Olivia took a sip of warm water, trying to calm her irritation, but the questions in her mind only grew bigger.
She even thought about finding a chance to ask Leo about LO, to see if she could get any useful info from her son.
But on second thought, Leo had a good relationship with LO, and LO hadn't done anything bad to him. In fact, he'd always taken care of Leo and seemed genuinely kind to him.
If she asked too directly, it might make Leo uncomfortable or even alert LO, making him more secretive.
And no matter who LO was, at least he was sincere toward Leo and showed no ill intent. That much was clear from Leo's reactions.
Whenever Leo mentioned LO, the joy and admiration in his eyes couldn't be hidden. That was enough for now.
Olivia sighed. Fine, whoever LO is, as long as he's good to Leo and doesn't harm him, she'd let it be for now.
She'd just stay cautious and keep an eye out. Eventually, she'd have a chance to find out his real identity. There was no point in rushing now.
She walked to the living room and saw Leo squatting on the floor, coloring his race car model with crayons. His little face was full of focus, and he was humming a tuneless song.
It was obvious he was really happy today, having made a new friend and received a gift he loved.
Seeing her son like this, Olivia's worries and doubts eased a bit. No matter what, as long as her child was happy, that's what mattered. Everything else could wait.
Meanwhile, Luca sat in his office, listening to the driver's detailed report after returning.
Hearing that Olivia thanked him and even wanted to treat him to a meal, a faint smile crept onto his lips, his eyes full of warmth.
Leaning back in his office chair, his fingers lightly tapped the desk. He knew Olivia was sharp and must have already started to suspect something about all this.
But he wasn't in a hurry. He'd take it slow, step by step. One day, he'd stand by Olivia and Leo as his true self.
The next day, Olivia held Leo's hand and walked to the kindergarten classroom door, lingering a few seconds longer than usual.
She crouched down, fixed Leo's crooked collar, and glanced at the seats in the classroom. She didn't see Dylan.
"Go on in, and have fun with Dylan," Olivia said, patting Leo's back as he ran into the classroom.
As soon as Leo settled in, the teacher, Lisa, came over from the back of the room and greeted Olivia with a smile. "Good morning, Olivia."
Olivia smiled back and nodded, casually glancing into the classroom. "Morning, Lisa. Leo mentioned yesterday that a new kid named Dylan joined the class?"
Lisa's smile didn't change, but she kept in mind Luca's specific instructions. She replied simply, "Yes, he just transferred in yesterday. His name's Dylan."
Olivia's fingers lightly rubbed her bag strap as she pretended to ask casually, "He seems pretty shy. How's he adjusting? What does his family do? He and Leo seem to get along well."
She hoped to get a bit more info about Dylan's family from the teacher, something that might connect to LO and give her a clue.
Lisa kept her answer short, not saying anything extra. "He's a bit introverted, but he played well with Leo yesterday. Kids adapt quickly, so don't worry."
As for Dylan's family, Lisa didn't mention a word. After a pause, she added, "We'll keep an eye on him and make sure every child is doing well."
Olivia could tell from her words that she had been instructed not to say more. Asking further wouldn't get her anywhere.
Her suspicions grew heavier. If this were just a regular transfer student, why would Lisa be so secretive? Clearly, someone had told her not to share any details.
She hid her thoughts, keeping a polite smile on her face. "Thanks, Lisa. I just asked because Leo seemed so happy playing with him yesterday. No other reason."
"No problem, you can rest assured," Lisa said with a smile and a nod, then added, "You must be busy, so go ahead." She turned to the front of the classroom to start the morning activities for the kids.
Olivia stood at the door for a moment, glancing at Leo inside. He was walking toward Dylan's spot with some small building blocks, the two boys whispering to each other.
She didn't stay longer and turned to leave the classroom, her thoughts running deep.
