Chapter 133 Exposed
He really didn't expect Windy to lie to him over something so small. His heart was filled with disappointment.
Windy panicked and reached out to grab Luca's arm, but he dodged her with a sidestep. Her eyes turned red, and her voice trembled with tears. "Luca, I really didn't mean to hide it from you. I just got confused for a moment... Please don't be mad at me, okay? I came here today to talk about something important, not to deceive you on purpose."
"There's no need to talk." Luca cut her off, his tone firm. "Go back for now. I've got things to do."
Windy saw his resolute attitude and glanced at Olivia, who was standing nearby watching coldly. Anger and resentment boiled inside her, but she didn't dare push further, afraid of making Luca dislike her even more.
She shot Olivia a fierce glare, unable to hide the venom in her eyes, then bit her lip.
Luca ignored the person in front of him and got into the car with Olivia.
Windy stood there, watching the car disappear into the distance, her face so dark it seemed like it could drip with anger.
She never imagined Luca would protect Olivia like this!
That woman had been gone for five years. How could she just come back and steal all of Luca's attention?
She pulled out her phone and dialed her mother Patricia's number, her voice filled with grievance and anger. "Mom, when are you going to do something? Olivia has already moved into Luca's house. They're together all the time now. If this keeps up, Luca will be completely taken by her!"
"Don't worry, my precious daughter," Patricia's voice came through the phone, laced with a sinister edge. "I've already made arrangements. In a few days, I'll teach her a lesson and show her that not just anyone can take what belongs to our family."
"Really? Mom, you have to hurry. I can't lose Luca," Windy said urgently, her voice breaking into a sob.
"Don't worry, I won't let you down," Patricia reassured her. "Just stay calm for now and act like nothing's wrong. Don't let Luca suspect anything."
After hanging up, a ruthless glint flashed in Windy's eyes. Olivia, just you wait. I'll make sure you disappear from Luca's side again!
In the car, Olivia stared out at the passing scenery, feeling a bit surprised.
She didn't expect Luca to cut Windy off for her sake and drive away so quickly.
In the past, he never acted like this. No matter what Windy said or did, he always let her have her way.
"Why did you stop Windy just now?" she couldn't help but ask, her voice soft.
Luca's hand paused on the steering wheel. He glanced at her, his gaze deep. "She was too noisy. Wasting time."
That excuse was too flimsy, and Olivia didn't buy it.
She looked at his profile, a question lingering in her mind, but she swallowed it back before it could come out.
She was afraid that if she asked, the answer wouldn't be what she wanted—or worse, it would just be another lie.
Soon, the car pulled up in front of her studio.
"Thanks for driving me back," Olivia said as she unbuckled her seatbelt and got ready to leave.
"Wait," Luca called out. "There's a business party tonight. Want to come with me?"
Olivia was taken aback. "A business party? I'll pass. I've got a lot of work to do."
"You should go. It'll be good for your studio," Luca persuaded. "Lots of investors will be there. You might land a few deals."
Olivia hesitated.
She did need more investments and partnerships to stabilize her studio quickly.
Plus, there were Leo's tuition fees, living expenses, and the studio rent—money was tight everywhere.
"Alright, I'll go," she nodded.
"I'll pick you up tonight," Luca said, a faint smile tugging at his lips, barely noticeable in his eyes.
Olivia didn't say anything. She opened the car door and walked into her studio.
Luca watched her disappear through the door before starting the car and driving off.
Not long after, his phone rang. It was the nursing home.
"Sir, something's wrong. Your grandfather's condition has suddenly worsened. His heart rate dropped sharply, and the doctors are trying to save him!" The nurse on the other end sounded frantic, her voice trembling.
Luca's face turned pale instantly. His heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, making it hard to breathe. "I'm on my way!"
He immediately told the driver to turn around and head to the nursing home as fast as possible.
The whole way there, his mind was filled with anxiety and fear.
His grandfather was the closest person to him in the world. He couldn't lose him.
And he hadn't even had the chance to tell him that he had a son.
The car soon arrived at the nursing home. Luca pushed open the door and rushed to the emergency room.
The doctor came out just then, removing his mask with a tired expression. "Sir, don't worry. Your grandfather is out of danger for now, but we need to keep monitoring him. He can't be disturbed at the moment."
Luca let out a sigh of relief, his tense heart finally easing. His back was soaked with cold sweat. "Thank you, doctor."
"It's our job, sir," the doctor nodded and walked away.
Luca entered the room and looked at his grandfather, still unconscious on the bed. Guilt overwhelmed him.
If he hadn't insisted on divorcing Olivia back then, his grandfather wouldn't have gotten so angry, and his health wouldn't be like this.
"Grandpa, I'm sorry. It's all my fault," he said, sitting by the bed and holding his grandfather's cold hand, his voice hoarse. "Please wake up soon, okay? I have so much to tell you."
"I found Olivia. We have a son named Leo. He's adorable, and his eyes look just like yours. When you wake up, I'll bring him to see you."
"Didn't you always want to hold your great-grandson? Leo's a good kid. I'm sure you'll love him."
He kept talking for a long time until the butler lightly knocked on the door and came in.
"Sir, there's a man outside with a child who wants to visit your grandfather," the butler said softly, careful not to disturb the old man.
Luca was stunned for a moment. "Who is it?"
"It's Mr. Baron Vettel. He's your grandfather's nephew, the same generation as your father," the butler explained.
Luca frowned, a hint of irritation in his heart.
He didn't have a good impression of Baron. The man was always opportunistic, changing his attitude based on who he was dealing with. They rarely interacted, and now that his grandfather was seriously ill, Baron's suddenly showing up with a child couldn't mean anything good.
"Let them in," Luca said, letting go of his grandfather's hand. He stood up and adjusted his clothes.
Soon, a middle-aged man walked in with a boy of about five or six years old.
Baron had a fawning smile on his face, but his eyes quickly scanned the room before landing on Luca. "Luca, it's been a while. I heard the old man wasn't feeling well, so I brought the kid to visit."
His voice was loud, and Luca frowned, gesturing for him to lower it. "Grandpa needs rest."
"Oh, right, right, keep it down," Baron quickly hushed himself, pulling the little boy beside him to the bedside. "Come on, give Linus a hug and wish him well."
The boy timidly looked at the old man on the bed, then at Baron. After a moment of hesitation, he leaned in and gave the old man a gentle hug.
"Good boy, so well-mannered," Baron patted the child's head, then turned to Luca. "Look at how obedient this kid is. I'm too busy to take care of him properly, and with the old man in this state, he could use some company."
