Chapter 115 Transaction
"I'm hungry. I want to eat the food you make," Luca said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Make something light and bring it over."
Olivia was taken aback for a moment, then got annoyed. "Don't you have a nurse around? Or you can ask Wendy to bring you something. I don't have time."
"I only want to eat what you make. I'm not used to other people's cooking," Luca insisted firmly. "Besides, don't you want to see Grandpa as soon as possible? Bring me the food, and I'll take you to him."
Olivia's heart stirred. Seeing Linus had always been on her mind.
She hesitated for a bit but finally agreed. "Fine, I'll make something and bring it over. Wait for me."
After hanging up the phone, a smug smile crept onto Luca's face. He knew that using Grandpa as an excuse would definitely make Olivia agree.
Leaning against the headboard with nothing to do, he took out his phone and opened a live-streaming app.
As expected, Leo was live, with an adorable title: "Drawing little kitties today~"
Luca clicked in and saw the soft, cute little guy on the screen. Instantly, his heart calmed down, and the irritation and anger from yesterday melted away.
Leo was seriously drawing with crayons, occasionally chatting with his fans. His soft voice was incredibly soothing.
"This little guy is pretty interesting. Every time I watch his stream, my mood gets better," Luca thought to himself, his fingers unconsciously tapping on the screen.
Just then, his assistant came in with a glass of water and saw him watching Leo's stream again. The assistant couldn't help but shake his head helplessly. "Sir, he's streaming again?"
"Yeah, pretty cute. His voice is nice too," Luca said casually, his eyes still glued to the screen.
The assistant leaned over for a look and suddenly froze.
The screen zoomed in on Leo, and between his brows and eyes, there was a subtle resemblance to Luca.
Especially those eyes—they looked like they were carved from the same mold.
"Sir, don't you think this kid looks a bit like you?" the assistant couldn't help but ask.
Luca paused, took a closer look, and thought there might be some similarity. But he didn't think much of it and just laughed, "Probably a coincidence. There are plenty of people who look alike in the world."
As he spoke, he typed a comment in the chat: "Kid, your drawing is really nice, and your voice is so calming."
Leo saw the comment, his eyes lighting up. He looked at the camera and said sweetly, "Thanks for the compliment! I'll keep working hard!"
Seeing him like that, Luca felt even more fond of him and sent a few small gifts.
Not long after, Olivia arrived with a thermal container.
Hearing the knock, Luca quickly closed the stream and put on his usual expression. "Come in."
Olivia pushed the door open, placed the container on the table, and said, "I brought you chicken noodle soup. It's light. Give it a try."
Luca picked up a spoon, took a sip of the soup, and found the flavor mild yet just to his liking.
He secretly thought to himself that Olivia's cooking was still as good as ever.
"How is it?" Olivia asked, her tone neutral.
"It's delicious," Luca replied, but his hands didn't stop as he kept eating spoonful after spoonful.
Seeing him enjoy the food, Olivia felt a bit relieved. She had worried it might not suit his taste.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Jason.
She glanced at Luca and stepped aside to answer. "Hey, Jason."
"Liv, where are you? I went to your place, but no one answered the door," Jason said, sounding a bit worried.
"I'm at the hospital, dropping something off for Luca," Olivia answered honestly.
Jason's tone immediately turned anxious. "You're still taking care of him? He hasn't done anything to you, has he? Are you two back together?"
Olivia frowned, feeling that Jason's tone was a bit too much. "Jason, you're overthinking. I'm just here to drop off food. I'll be back soon. He's just a business partner. There's nothing between us."
Jason went quiet for a few seconds, then softened his tone. "Sorry, I'm just too worried about you. I'm afraid he might trick you."
"I get it. I'll be careful. I've got to go, I have stuff to do," Olivia said before hanging up.
Turning around, she saw Luca looking at her with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
"Was that Jason?" Luca asked.
"Yeah," Olivia nodded, not planning to say more.
"Did he ask if we're together?" Luca pressed, a faint trace of nervousness in his voice.
Olivia paused, surprised by the question, then replied casually, "Yeah, but that's none of your business, right?"
Luca instantly felt relieved. He knew Olivia too well—if she were really with Jason, she'd admit it outright, not respond like this.
A subtle smile tugged at his lips, but he didn't push further and went back to sipping his soup.
Olivia noticed his expression and felt something was off, but she didn't dwell on it and changed the subject. "You said you'd take me to see Linus. Where is he now?"
Luca paused mid-sip, his eyes dodging a bit. "He's at a care home in the suburbs. The environment there is nice, good for resting."
"When are you taking me?" Olivia pressed. She couldn't stop thinking about Linus.
"When I'm a bit better. The doctor says I still need a few more days of observation," Luca said, though inwardly he was figuring out how to tell Olivia the truth about Grandpa's condition.
Olivia nodded, not pushing further. "Alright, rest well. I'm heading back. I've got things to do at the studio."
"Be careful on the way," Luca said, watching her leave with a hint of reluctance, though he didn't try to stop her.
Over the next few days, Olivia came by every day on time to bring Luca lunch. Each time, she made something different, clearly putting in effort.
Luca felt warmer inside with each day, even starting to crave this feeling of being taken care of.
His favorite part of the day was when Olivia showed up with lunch. Just seeing her, even if they only exchanged a few words, made him feel at ease.
The assistant, watching his boss eagerly wait for lunch every day, sighed inwardly. It was obvious the boss still had feelings for her.
That day, Olivia came to deliver lunch as usual. Setting down the thermal container, she said, "You've been in the hospital for almost a week now. When can you get discharged? When are you taking me to see Linus?"
Luca put down the file in his hand, looked up at her with a complicated expression, and said, "Liv, you need to prepare yourself. Grandpa's condition might be worse than you think."
Olivia's heart sank, a bad feeling creeping in. "What's wrong with Grandpa? Has his health gotten worse?"
Luca hesitated for a long time before finally deciding to come clean. "Three months ago, Grandpa had a relapse. He's been in a coma ever since, kept alive by medication at the care home. I didn't tell you earlier because I didn't want you to worry."
Olivia's face turned pale in an instant, her body swaying slightly. Her eyes were full of disbelief. "What did you say? Grandpa's been in a coma for three months? Why didn't you tell me sooner? I thought he was just unwell, not that it was this serious."
Her voice trembled, tears welling up as guilt and self-blame overwhelmed her.
