Chapter 114 Confessing Again
Olivia walked out of the hospital and had just reached the parking lot when she spotted a familiar car parked not far away.
The car window rolled down, revealing Jason's face, his eyes full of surprise. "Liv? What are you doing here?"
As he spoke, he pushed the car door open, got out, and quickly walked over to her, looking her up and down. "Are you feeling unwell? Or did something happen?"
Olivia sighed inwardly, not planning to hide anything, and said directly, "It's not me. Luca fainted, so I brought him to the hospital."
Jason's expression darkened instantly, a hint of bitterness in his tone that was hard to notice. "How did he faint? Why were you two together?"
"We had some details to discuss about the studio's investment. He came to my studio to talk, and while we were chatting, he suddenly passed out," Olivia explained simply, her tone calm.
Jason clenched his fists, a wave of jealousy rising in his chest, but he suppressed it and just reminded her, "Be careful, okay? Don't let him do anything out of line to you again. And don't push yourself too hard. It's fine to look after him, but don't let yourself suffer. If anything happens, call me anytime."
Hearing his words, Olivia gave a self-mocking smile. "Don't worry. There's no chance for him and me anymore. We already went as far as divorce back then. There's no way we'd have any connection now. I'm only taking care of him for the sake of the studio's investment."
Jason felt a wave of relief wash over him, the bitterness fading a bit. Seeing how tired Olivia looked, he softened his voice. "Let me drive you home. It's late, and it's not safe for you to drive alone."
Olivia wanted to refuse, but realizing how exhausted she was, she nodded. "Alright, thanks."
As the two got into the car, a figure in the shadows of a nearby tree moved slightly.
It was Luca's assistant. He had rushed over after getting word to check on his boss, but he didn't expect to witness this scene.
Not daring to waste time, he quickly pulled out his phone and called Luca.
In the hospital room, Luca was leaning against the headboard, his mind filled with the image of Olivia's back as she left. His heart felt empty.
When his phone rang, and he saw it was his assistant, he picked up immediately.
"What is it?"
"Sir, I just got to the hospital entrance and saw Madam with Dr. Jason. He's driving her away," the assistant said respectfully.
Luca's face darkened instantly, nearly crushing the phone in his hand. "They're together? Doing what?"
"Nothing much. Madam came out of the hospital, Dr. Jason happened to be downstairs, and they got into the car together," the assistant reported honestly. "It looked pretty normal, no close contact or anything."
Luca's anger still didn't subside. His chest felt tight, and he snapped irritably, "Look into it! Check Jason's background again. I don't believe he's been single all these years. There must be something we missed!"
The assistant quickly replied, "Sir, we've already looked into him thoroughly. Dr. Jason has been alone for the past five years. No close relationships with anyone. And given his personality, if he were really with Madam, he wouldn't keep it to himself. He'd probably announce it to the world."
Luca paused, his anger somehow fading quite a bit.
Thinking it over, the assistant seemed to make sense.
Jason had always had feelings for Olivia back then. If they were really together, why would he hide it?
With that thought, Luca suddenly felt a lot lighter, even a slight smirk tugging at his lips.
"Got it. Keep an eye on things, but don't make it obvious. Don't let Olivia notice. By the way, how's Grandpa doing?" Luca changed the topic, his tone growing serious.
The assistant's voice lowered. "Sir, Grandpa's still the same. There was a faint sign of him waking up yesterday, but he slipped back under soon after. The doctors say we just have to wait it out."
Luca's face dimmed, leaning back against the headboard with a complicated look in his eyes.
He hesitated, unsure whether to tell Olivia the truth.
Three months ago, his grandfather had a relapse and had been in a coma ever since, kept alive only by medication.
He hadn't told her because he didn't want her to be upset. After all, Grandpa had doted on her so much back then.
Knowing Olivia's personality, if she found out about Grandpa's condition, she'd definitely drop everything to come take care of him.
But now, to make her willingly stay, he had used Grandpa as an excuse.
Luca ran a hand through his hair in frustration, feeling deeply conflicted.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the car was a bit quiet.
Jason glanced at the passing street scenery outside the window and couldn't help but ask, "Liv, are you really planning to keep taking care of Luca?"
"Just for a few days. Once he's better or his assistant is back, I'm done," Olivia said, a trace of helplessness in her eyes. "The investment deal isn't finalized yet. I can't take any risks."
Jason stayed silent for a few seconds before turning to look at her, his gaze serious. "Liv, let's leave this place. Let's go somewhere no one knows us. I know you've had a tough time these years. Luca can't give you happiness. I've liked you for so long, always waiting for you. Give me a chance. Let me take care of you and Leo. We can live a good life together."
Olivia was stunned. She hadn't expected Jason to say this, and her heart raced with panic.
She turned her head, avoiding his gaze. "Jason, let me think about it."
She wasn't unmoved. Over the years, she had seen and remembered how well Jason had treated her and Leo.
But there were still too many ties holding her back—Linus's situation, the studio's investment... She couldn't just leave.
Jason's heart tightened, a bit anxious as he asked, "How long do you need to think? I can't wait forever. I know Luca too well. He won't let you go so easily."
Olivia bit her lip. "I need time. I can't make a decision this quickly."
"Three days. I'm giving you three days," Jason cut her off, his tone firm and unyielding. "You have to give me an answer after three days."
Olivia frowned, feeling that Jason was being a bit too pushy, but seeing his urgency, she nodded. "Okay, fine. I'll give you an answer in three days."
After saying that, she felt her tone might have been off, so she quickly added, "Sorry, Jason. I didn't mean it like that. I just need to think things through."
Jason's expression softened. "It's fine. I know you need time. I'll wait."
The car soon arrived at Olivia's place. She thanked him, got out, and watched the car drive off, her mind a complete mess.
The next morning, Luca woke up and the first thing he did was grab his phone to check his call history and messages. Seeing no word from Olivia, he felt a bit upset.
He thought she'd at least ask how he was doing, but there was nothing.
Irritated, he dialed Olivia's number. It rang a few times before she picked up.
"What's up?" Olivia's voice carried a hint of sleepiness, as she'd just woken up.
