Chapter 10 Always Thinking About Her
"You..." Luca's face instantly darkened, a strange, indescribable feeling clouding his heart.
Windy gently shook his arm. "Luca, how could Olivia say such things about you? She's out having dinner, acting all cozy with some other guy. It's pretty clear something's up."
Olivia coldly mocked Windy, "To you, if a woman has dinner with a guy, there must be something shady going on. Sounds to me like you have a thing for my husband, so you think everyone else does too."
"Olivia, what are you saying!" Windy put on a pitiful expression, her eyes turning red as she acted coy toward Luca. "Luca, Olivia is so mean. Her words are so harsh. I'm scared."
Olivia ignored her with disdain and turned to Jason. "Let's go eat."
She had originally planned to leave, but since Luca had already seen her, there was no point in walking away.
There was nothing wrong between her and Jason. What was the big deal about having dinner with a friend?
If Luca got mad, let him be mad. What did it have to do with her?
Luca stared hard at the two of them as they walked to a window seat, a restless feeling filling his chest, as if something that belonged to him had been taken away by someone else.
Jason pulled out a chair for Olivia, and the two of them seemed completely unaware of his presence, flipping through the menu and discussing what to order.
This harmonious scene made it hard for Luca to breathe.
He had never cared about Olivia's social life before. In fact, he had even hoped she would go out and make more friends instead of always bothering him. But seeing her laughing and chatting so comfortably with another man sparked an inexplicable anger that threatened to break through his self-control.
"Luca? Luca!" Windy's voice came from beside him, carrying a hint of grievance and urgency.
Luca snapped back to reality and glanced at Windy, not noticing her upset expression. "Alright, let's go. We'll eat at another restaurant."
Windy stared in shock at his back as he walked away first.
Not only did Luca not comfort her, but he was just leaving like that?
Unwilling to accept it, Windy gritted her teeth and hurriedly followed after him.
Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Olivia and Jason ordered many dishes they used to enjoy together.
After eating, Olivia felt much better and completely forgot the unpleasant encounter with Luca earlier.
Jason then took her to a park to feed pigeons and later to watch a movie.
By the time they left the cinema, it was already dark.
As Jason drove, the surroundings grew quiet. He hesitated before speaking, "Sorry, I didn't know bringing you to that restaurant would lead to running into them. Are you okay?"
Olivia shook her head and forced a tired smile. "I should be the one apologizing. I didn't expect Luca to get angry at you. Thanks for coming out to eat with me today. That restaurant brought back a lot of good memories."
Jason held the steering wheel and said gently, "No need to thank me. Seeing you again and having dinner together means a lot to me. Where are you staying now? I'll drive you home."
Olivia froze for a moment.
Home?
Luca must be upset about today. If she went back, who knows what she'd have to face.
Since they were getting a divorce anyway, she didn't want to deal with Luca all the time. It was better to part on good terms.
After thinking for a bit, Olivia said, "Just take me back to my old place."
Jason nodded. "I think I remember where it is. Let's see if I can find it. Don't give me any hints."
He deliberately changed the topic to cheer Olivia up.
Sure enough, Olivia perked up a little and started talking about old times with him.
Before her mother passed away, Olivia had a villa under her name where they used to live.
As the car got closer, Olivia felt a lump in her throat at the sight of her old home.
If her mom found out what had happened with Luca, and all the drama with Windy, she'd be furious and heartbroken.
"Alright, we're here."
Jason unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, and walked around to open the passenger door for Olivia.
Hiding her emotions, Olivia said goodbye to Jason. "I had a great time today. I'm going to rest now."
Jason smiled and nodded. "Okay, go on in."
Olivia unlocked the door with her key.
As she stepped inside and reached for the chandelier switch on the wall, a large hand suddenly grabbed her wrist in the darkness.
Caught off guard, Olivia almost screamed.
The next second, the hand forcefully covered her mouth.
Olivia found herself pulled into a warm embrace, struggling in confusion against the man's solid chest. "Who are you? Let me go!"
A hot breath brushed against her ear, and a familiar voice spoke. "Back so late?"
Hearing Luca's voice, Olivia's anger flared up instantly. "Luca? What are you doing here?!"
Luca stepped back a little, looking at Olivia in the faint moonlight from outside without saying a word.
Truthfully, he didn't have an answer.
After leaving the restaurant, the image of Olivia eating with another man kept popping into his mind. Even while eating with Windy, he kept zoning out, and she complained several times.
Finally, unable to take it anymore, he left before finishing his meal and went home, only to find that Olivia wasn't there.
He knew that whenever Olivia was upset, she'd go back to her old villa. Sure enough, he guessed right.
As for why he came here, why he had to see Olivia, he couldn't explain it himself.
Luca's eyes flickered as he asked in a low voice, "How's your health?"
Olivia instinctively covered her lower abdomen, leaning against the door as she thought about what Jason had told her.
If she couldn't terminate this pregnancy, what would Luca think if he found out?
Olivia looked up with a complicated expression. In the darkness, she felt a bit braver and couldn't help asking, "If I were pregnant, what would you think?"
Luca's face changed slightly, and he took a step closer. Just as he was about to speak, a sudden knock on the door startled Olivia, making her tremble.
Jason's voice came from outside. "Olivia, are you okay?"
Olivia hadn't expected Jason to still be there.
Luca's expression darkened, his gaze turning cold.
Olivia quickly responded, "I'm fine. What's wrong?"
Jason sounded worried. "I noticed you didn't turn on the lights, so I thought something might be wrong. I'm glad you're okay."
Luca narrowed his eyes. Olivia had been with Jason until this late, and he was the one who brought her back. Thinking about them spending the whole day together irritated him to no end.
Sensing Luca's odd mood, Olivia feared another scene and hurriedly said, "I'm fine, Jason. You should go now."
Luca looked down at Olivia, unable to control the anger bubbling inside him. He sneered, "You just asked me what I'd think if you were pregnant. Did you sleep with Jason, and now you're worried about being pregnant, feeling guilty?"
Olivia hadn't even had a chance to relax when she heard this. Her mind went blank, shocked, as if she had misheard. "What did you just say?!"
The footsteps outside paused.
Clearly, Jason had heard Luca's accusation.
Hearing her husband slander her like this in front of someone who used to be a close friend, Olivia felt nothing but embarrassment and shame.
Her whole body was trembling.
