Chapter 23 He Was Protecting Jennifer

"No, I'm just here to treat you."

Jennifer nervously picked up the acupuncture kit in her hand.

"Is that so?" Michael's expressionless voice seemed to carry a hint of teasing, "Then why can't you take your eyes off me?"

"I wasn't looking."

Jennifer's voice was weak and slightly guilty, but he emphasized, "I came here to treat you, and I just came in when I saw the door open."

Finishing speaking, she quickly looked up at the ceiling.

Michael looked at Jennifer in a meaningful way, turned around, and walked away, "Let's begin."

"Okay."

Jennifer adjusted her breathing and prepared the acupuncture carefully.

Just as she was about to start, the door creaked open, and a voice of complaint from William rang out, "So you are in Dad's room."

"Perfect, and we can all sleep together today."

He liked sleeping with Jennifer, and he liked the three of them sleeping together even more.

Seeing William entering, Jennifer smiled and explained, "I’m giving your dad acupuncture."

William calmly said, "Then we'll sleep together after the acupuncture."

"Stay."

Michael suddenly spoke.

Upon hearing this, Jennifer was shocked as if struck by lightning, her mouth hanging open in astonishment, "What did you say?"

"You don't want to?"

Michael's tone seemed somewhat suspicious.

"I certainly don't want to." Jennifer was speechless, unsure of how Michael viewed her. Her tone was slightly unfriendly, "I'm here as a home tutor for William, not to accompany anyone in bed."

"I was just testing you, and it seems you know your status." Michael's tone was a bit condescending.

Testing?

Jennifer was completely speechless, and she really wanted to open Michael's head and see what was inside.

During acupuncture, she intentionally used more force.

"Aren't you trying to murder me?"

Michael coldly opened his eyes, looking at Jennifer angrily.

Jennifer acted as if nothing had happened, "Pain is necessary for recovery. Only when you feel not painful can the illness be cured. Please bear with it, Mr. Whitfield."

Michael snorted, and he knew that Jennifer had a knack for revenge.

After the acupuncture, Jennifer carried William, "William, let's go back to the room. I will tell you a story."

William was already tired, nodding and allowing Jennifer to carry him away.

The next morning.

Just as Jennifer was coming down the stairs, Michael reminded him, "Today, William's grandparents will be coming back."

Jennifer immediately responded seriously, "I understand."

There were many rules in the wealthy family, and she had to be careful.

Sure enough, not long after, there was the sound of a car engine outside the door, followed by hurried footsteps.

Jennifer listened and looked out.

She saw David and Christina Thompson quickly entering the living room.

Behind them was Jessica.

Jennifer was in surprise, her brows immediately furrowing. She had indeed shown up.

As she was contemplating, the two elders spoke up, "William, my sweetie. Let me have a look."

David and Christina saw William and they approached him lovingly.

Since the day they heard William calling Grandpa on the phone, they had been thinking day and night about seeing their precious grandson.

But William, at that moment, was completely engrossed in flipping through a picture book, not even looking up at them.

No matter how they showed concern and asked questions, William remained silent.

David and Christina looked at each other, puzzled as to why William was suddenly silent.

There was a moment of awkward silence in the living room.

Jessica promptly spoke up, "William, you like goldfish, right? Look, I brought you a seven-colored goldfish, and we can put it in the lotus pond together."

…

She smiled, trying to please William.

William still ignored, even turning away impatiently, with his back to everyone.

Such a hypocritical woman! He liked the quiet of the lotus pond, not the goldfish.

The atmosphere became awkward again.

Jessica's anger surged for a moment because William always embarrassed her.

Thinking of Jennifer teaching William these days, a cold smile appeared on her lips.

Her gaze suddenly shifted to Jennifer, and she asked, "I wonder what Jennifer has been teaching William? How come he is now ignoring his grandparents?"

Sure enough, as soon as these words were spoken, the eyes of David and Christina turned towards Jennifer.

...

What a mischief-making! Jennifer met Jennifer's eyes and firmly spoke, "May I ask who you are?"

"I have been working in the Whitfield family for two days, and Mr. Whitfield has been present the whole time, so how can you baselessly accuse me?"

Jessica thought, “Doesn't she know who am I?”

Jennifer knew how to hurt her.

Now Jessica hated it when people asked about her identity because she was not Mrs. Whitfield.

Looking at Jennifer with a mix of anger and warning, she said, "I am William's mommy, so of course, I can question your teaching."

"And you, an unknown woman, stay by William's side, and I wonder if you have ulterior motives?"

“You're not my mommy. You're a bad woman.”

Without waiting for Jennifer to speak, William, who had been ignoring everyone, suddenly stood in front of Jennifer in a protective posture, and angrily said to Jessica, “She is the best teacher in the world, and you're not allowed to be mean to her. You go!”

Jessica thought, “Truly a deep bond between mother and son. The pair makes me sick.”

…

Jessica was extremely angry and embarrassed by William, wishing she could tear their mouths apart and never let them speak again.

In front of William, she could never gain any advantage. She suppressed her anger and turned to Christina for help. Her expression suddenly became pitiful, "Christina, Everything I did was because I cared about William.”

Any mother would not want a woman with unclear intentions to stay with her child.

Moreover, in recent years, there were quite a few incidents like this.

Christina suddenly frowned, and nodded slightly, " Michael, we should be careful to choose a tutor for William."

"I think..."

"William likes her."

Before Christina could finish her sentence, she was coldly interrupted by Michael, "One-month probation, if she doesn't teach William well, I will fire her myself."

As he spoke, his cold gaze casually swept over Jessica, "My affairs are not to be interfered with by an outsider."

Calling her an outsider? Was he protecting Jennifer?

Jessica was already trembling all over from Michael's cold gaze, and now her heart was aching like it was being twisted with a knife.

She did not dare to be angry again and could only humbly plead, "Michael, you misunderstood me. I am just worried about William as an ordinary mother."

"Did I say you were wrong?" Michael didn't even look at her, and gave a cold warning, "Don't make me repeat myself."

Jessica immediately dared not speak.

Jennifer coldly observed, and it seemed that Jessica’s situation was not easy.

At this moment, Jennifer stepped forward to speak, "I will fulfill my responsibility as a good home tutor. Please rest assured, Mr. and Mrs. Whitfield."

"Jennifer is the best teacher, and I will definitely learn well with her."

William, obedient and sensible, held Jennifer's hand.

Jennifer smiled gently at William. A bond between a mother and her son was not something that could be destroyed by tricks.

Michael looked at the two smiling at each other, he felt satisfied, and he spoke to David and Christina, "William still has classes, and I'll have Robby take you back to the old mansion."

"We haven't seen William for a long time, and we want to stay and accompany William."
