Chapter 65

Rosalie's POV

I stood frozen, Maverick's words echoing in my head. If you want to get back at Cameron, let's do it together.

Slowly, I turned to face him. His usual smirk was gone, replaced by something darker-something that told me he meant every word.

"You hate him that much?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

Maverick crossed his arms, tilting his head slightly. "More than you can imagine," he said, his voice laced with bitterness.

I didn't trust him-not one bit. But if there was one thing I knew, it was that an enemy of Cameron's could be a useful ally.

I walked back toward him, arms crossed. "And why should I believe you? You were his friend."

"Were," he emphasized. "Not anymore. Cameron ruined something important to me, just like he ruined you. And I think it's time he gets what's coming to him."

I studied him, trying to figure out if he was playing some twisted game. His dark eyes held no deception, only a burning hatred that nearly mirrored my own.

"What did he do to you?" I asked.

Maverick chuckled, but there was no humor in it. "Let's just say Cameron isn't as loyal to his friends as he is to his own selfish needs. You're not the only one he's betrayed."

I wanted to press further, but I knew I couldn't afford to get caught up in Maverick's problems. My priority was my own revenge.

"So what's your plan?" I asked cautiously.

Maverick leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice. "We hit him where it hurts-his ego, his reputation, and most of all, his heart. You're the only person who can do that, Rosalie."

I let out a bitter laugh. "Cameron doesn't have a heart."

Maverick smirked. "Oh, but he does. And whether you want to admit it or not, you're the only woman who ever got close enough to break it."

His words sent a strange shiver down my spine, but I pushed the feeling aside. I didn't care if Cameron had a heart. I only cared about making him regret ever betraying me.

"What do you suggest?" I asked.

Maverick's smirk deepened. "First, we make him jealous. Make him think you've moved on. Someone new in your life, someone he never expected."

I raised an eyebrow. "And who would that be?"

Maverick spread his arms. "Me, of course."

I scoffed. "You must be joking."

"Think about it," he said, his voice dripping with amusement. "Cameron hates losing. He hates being outplayed. And he definitely hates seeing someone else with something-or someone-he thought he owned."

I clenched my fists. Cameron had treated me like something he could control, like a toy he could discard whenever he pleased. If making him jealous would make him suffer, then maybe Maverick had a point.

"I'm listening," I said.

Maverick's smirk widened. "Good. Now, let's make Cameron's life a living hell."

---

The first step was to make sure Cameron saw me with Maverick. Not just anywhere, but at places where it would sting the most. Places he frequented. Places where Olivia could see us, too.

So that's exactly what we did.

The next evening, Maverick and I went to one of Cameron's favorite restaurants. A high-end, exclusive place where only the wealthy and influential dined. The kind of place Cameron had taken me to when he wanted to show me off.

I wore a dress that hugged my figure perfectly, one that I knew would make Cameron's blood boil. Maverick played his role flawlessly, laughing too loudly, touching my arm at just the right moments, leaning in as if whispering sweet nothings in my ear.

And then, just as expected-Cameron walked in.

The moment his eyes landed on us, his entire demeanor changed. He stiffened, his jaw tightening as his gaze darkened. Olivia was by his side, holding onto his arm, but I could tell she felt the shift in his energy.

For a split second, I saw something in Cameron's expression that almost looked like-pain.

Good.

I leaned closer to Maverick, allowing my fingers to trail over his hand. He responded instantly, playing along, his smirk growing as he looked at Cameron.

"Someone looks pissed," Maverick muttered under his breath.

"Cameron?" I said innocently, keeping my voice loud enough for him to hear. "Oh, I didn't even see him there."

Cameron's eyes flashed with something dangerous as he took a step forward, but Olivia tightened her grip on his arm, stopping him.

"Rosalie," Cameron's voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. "Didn't expect to see you here."

I tilted my head, feigning surprise. "Oh? Should I not be here? Last I checked, we don't control each other's lives anymore."

His lips pressed into a thin line. "You're here with him?" He barely glanced at Maverick, as if looking at him would make his anger worse.

I smiled sweetly. "Maverick has been such a great friend. He's been helping me... move on."

Cameron's nostrils flared. "Is that so?"

Maverick chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "What can I say? Rosalie deserves someone who actually values her."

Cameron's fists clenched at his sides. Olivia, clearly sensing the tension, tugged at his arm. "Cameron, let's go," she said through gritted teeth.

For a moment, I thought Cameron might actually lose control. But then, as if snapping back into reality, he exhaled sharply and turned away. Without another word, he walked off, dragging Olivia with him.

Maverick laughed as soon as they were out of sight. "That went even better than expected."

I sipped my drink, watching Cameron's retreating figure. I knew this was just the beginning. He had hurt me, humiliated me, and tossed me aside like I was nothing.

But now?

Now, it was his turn to feel the pain.

And I wasn't done yet.

Not even close.
