Chapter 64
Rosalie's POV
I was walking down the street, aimlessly heading to who knows where since leaving Cameron's house.
What broke my heart the most was that Cameron didn't even try to stop me from going. It hurt to know that he had gotten what he wanted and now had the space to be with his lover, just as he desired.
His words, his promises, and his affection made me believe he loved me just as I loved him, but it turns out they were all lies.
I can't stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks at the thought of it, and I have no idea how I'm going to move on from this.
"It hurts so much; my heart aches," I mumbled through my sobs, realizing that it all began with the contract between us. I should have followed the rules and not allowed myself to fall in love with him, which led to this heartbreak.
Now, I find myself regretting my decision, but it's too late to turn back the clock. If only I could.
Even though I'm crying and feeling sad, contemplating how I'm going to move on, I'm also thinking of a hundred ways to make Cameron and Olivia regret everything.
I know I haven't paid off all the money I owe him, even though I didn't strip for him as outlined in the contract. Instead, I ended up stripping for him more than I should have, which led to us having sex.
I'd rather work my ass off in a restaurant or anywhere else to pay off my debt than go back to him. Even if he tries to use the contract against me, but I doubt he would want me back, and I certainly don't want to see his face again. I hate him more than anything now.
I've saved up a little money, though I never expected a day like this would come. I'll find another job, and while I want Cameron and Olivia to regret treating me this way, I'm determined to think big and ensure I succeed. I know that if I were rich, Cameron wouldn't have had the chance to break my heart in such a painful and humiliating way. I'll find countless ways to make him regret everything and also make them suffer.
Tears continued to fall from my eyes, a mix of sadness, fury, and weakness overwhelming me. I suddenly couldn't walk any further and sank onto a bench by the street. Cars and bikes whizzed by, while crowds of people walked past me. I had no idea where I was or where to go to clear my mind.
I wish I could easily heal from the wound Cameron caused me, so he wouldn't feel satisfied knowing he broke me to the point where I can't seem to mend myself until I'm with him again, feeling his touch. But healing isn't something I can do overnight.
"Look who's sad," someone said with a sarcastic tone, and I turned to see Maverick sitting beside me, wearing his usual quirky smile.
I quickly tried to stand up from the bench, but Maverick suddenly pulled me back.
"What are you doing here? Did Cameron send you to beg and convince me?" I said, my anger evident on my face, but Maverick cut me off.
"Unfortunately, no. I just saw you from my car looking hurt, and I decided to come and say hi," he replied. I didn't know whether to feel sad or relieved at his answer, but my heart ached all the same.
"I should just stop. Cameron won't change; he knows what he's doing to me. I need to stop expecting anything from him and focus on my own goals-make him suffer and regret everything," I thought, but the tears kept rolling down my face.
"You're just as much of an animal as Cameron, so go ahead and join him and that bitch. The three of you deserve each other. I'm going to make all of you suffer," I said, trying to sound determined, but Maverick just scoffed.
"I'll pretend that I'm not hurt by you calling me an animal, but at the same time, I want you to stop associating my name with Cameron because I hate him even more than you do," Maverick said, his expression serious. Unbeknownst to him, I had already built walls around my heart to shield myself from his lies. As soon as he finished speaking, I couldn't help but smirk.
"You think I'm going to believe those foolish words coming out of your mouth? So y'all can fool me again but I won't let that happen. Cameron has hurt me so much that I can't fall for that nonsense anymore," I said flatly. I couldn't help but wonder why he'd hate Cameron. It felt like a sign that he was just deceiving me, and I suspected he was doing it for his best friend. At this moment, I realized they were likely in on this together.
I stood up angrily from the bench. "Tell Cameron to brace himself for my revenge. I won't go easy on him or Olivia," I said, my voice laced with fury, as I started to walk away. I heard Maverick scoff behind me, but I didn't turn back; I was already consumed by thoughts of what I planned to do to all of them. Maverick stood up from the bench.
"Rosalie, if you want to get back at Cameron, let's do it together," he called out, and I stopped in my tracks.
