Chapter 9 I can't lose you!

Chapter 9 I can't lose you!
Scarlette’s POV
Before it was dawn, we had already started getting close to the Pack.
I felt this sudden strange feeling in the lower part of my belly and I just couldn’t stop the feeling no matter how hard I tried.
I didn’t even realize when I started sweating in my palms, all I knew was that I kept rubbing my palms on my pants. Time and times again.
“Everything is going to be okay, your majesty?”
That was Kael’s go to reply. And every time he said it, he said it with concern in his eyes.
As soon as we got to the stone walls of our packs borders, I could already feel the anxiousness rising.
The guards at the gate greeted, but I didn’t respond cause all they said sounded blur in my head.
The heavy green gates were pulled open by about ten men at once. Yeah, I didn’t just call it heavy cause I felt like it. And those men were not just mere men, they were trained soldiers.
Anything to protect my people.
Though the rogues still kept on trying from time to time, but never did they ever penetrate.
When we finally packed the car, I hurried out, without even carrying anything with me. It wasn’t until I got to the hospital gates that I realized that even my purse wasn’t with me. I always carried it around with me, but now… It wasn’t important.
I could already see some Elders and leaders around the front of the Pack’s Hospital.
I approached them quickly.
“Your majesty!” They greeted with a bow.
I only nodded, the response wouldn’t just form. The only thing I managed to say was
“Where is he? Which room?”
“Room 904, your majesty.” Elder Savy said.
I hurried in like a mad woman.
News had reached us early this morning that Cyrus collapsed just in the hallways before he could perform the pack’s morning ritual. He was rushed to the hospital immediately after.
I could feel the people’s heavy eyes on me as I hurried like my speed in getting there would help revive Cyrus.
But of course, everyone understood who Cyrus was to me.
I took the elevator… just when the elevator was about to close, I saw Kael approaching, his steps just as fast.
I hadn’t even known that he was following.
I held the door and he joined me in.
“Your Purse and Phone.” He said, handing me both.
I took it and said nothing. Just counting and waiting for the elevator to finally reach its destination and drop us off.
Immediately I heard the ding, I pushed towards the door, even before it finally opened up.
“Goddess please, please don’t take Cyrus away from me.”
Finally, I saw the room with the tag plate 904. Without knocking, I pushed the door open.
“Cyrus!” I called, moving past the nurses to see him.
“Your majesty…”
I didn’t even look at them as they greeted, I just crouched by him, my eyes filled with unshed tears.
His eyes were still closed and he looked nothing like himself at all. He looked too whitish, that pale sick look. His lips were chapped.
“What happened to him?” I said to the older nurse.
It was not until now before I realised that there were two nurses with him. When I first entered, I almost thought they were more cause everything was blurry as hell because of the tears that I refused to let down.
To me, letting the tears down was like I was accepting defeat, accepting that Cyrus sickness had finally gotten too bad beyond repair.
“He’ll be fine, right?” I pressed my lips together trying to hold back my tears.
The nurses looked shocked. They had never seen me like this before. I was always seen as the strong and brave female Alpha, no one had ever seen this version of me. Except Cyrus. The same Cyrus I was about to lose.
“Doctor Fedric asked that you see him when you arrive. He’ll tell you everything there is to know about The Sorcerer’s condition.”
“Where is he, take me to him quickly!” I said, my voice firm, despite what was happening in my chest.
Kael was just behind me and I almost bumped into him with the force I used to turn.
He held onto my shoulders to steady me.
“Take a deep breath, your majesty.” He said, rubbing my arm lightly.
The hospital sterile and antiseptic smell stock to me. I hated it so much, but once again, it was for Cyrus. I didn’t mind being here.
The hospital walls were white, unstained. I followed as the nurses led me to where Dr. Fedric’s was.
He wasn’t at his office, he was busy attending to another patient. But as we approached the front of the wardroom where he was. He stepped out.
“Good day, Your majesty.” The Gray haired man in a white lab coat greeted, a warm expression on his face. “Beta Kael,” He acknowledged as well with a bow.
“Why did you guys stress my lady to come over here,” He said, turning to the nurses that had brought me to him. “…You should have let her relax in my office.”
“It’s fine!” I dismissed.
“Shall we?” I nodded and followed him back towards his office.
He stepped in first, then Kael and I followed. The door slammed shut, the noise filling the room before silence finally enveloped the room.
Before he could even say it, I found my way to the seat across from him.
“How bad is his condition?”
The doctor didn’t say anything at first, he just took of his glasses and shook his head.
“It’s beyond my medical expertise.” He started, the words seeming like they hurt his pride. “I’ve not seen anything like this in my years of experience.”
I looked him directly in the eyes, “ So… What are you saying?”
“It’s most likely a sorcerer’s problem.” He paused for a bit. “That’s my only logical explanation.”
“So you’re saying this is a Spiritual problem?” I asked like I didn’t already know the answer.
“From the little knowledge I have of his kind, it’s most likely that his time is finally coming to an end.”
His words felt like a stone dropped in my chest.
By the time we got out of the Doctor’s office, I made my way back to Cyrus’s room.
“I’ve never had to do this leadership of a thing without you, Cyrus. I can’t lose you.”
The tears that had been threatening to fall finally did. I could no longer hold it back as I watched him lie there, his pulse weak.
I wrapped my hand tight around his, like the tighter I held him, the faster he would wake up.
It was already getting to noon, yet I sat quietly in the room. My mind had already gotten used to the beeping of the machines.
I felt Kael’s calm presence by me. O
ffering me that quiet support.
He had previously gone to attend to some other duties and now he was back. I should have asked him about the progress of it, but that was the least of my problems at the moment.
I felt my phone beep in my pocket where I had dumped it after Kael had handed it to me.
The first and second buzz went unanswered before I finally took out the phone. Not to answer it, but to silence it for good.
I unlocked it, and his name came flashing across my Screen.
Alpha Azrael.
“Why the heck is he calling me?” I said with a disgusted look on my face.
