Chapter 8 My Number one goal
Chapter 8 My Number one goal
Scarlette’s POV
Everyone still had their smiling faces like someone had not just wished me death.
I looked around but couldn’t find the person that said that. Or is my mind playing tricks on me?
“Your majesty!” Kael reached out to me through a mind link.
I swallowed hard as I raised the mic to my mouth once again.
“It’s a great pleasure to…”
Have a pack that once wanted me dead seek desperately for my help.
Those words and the likes were the words that filled my mind, but I shook my head like it would make me stay focused.
“My number one goal since I became Alpha has been to raise other packs with me as I grow, so count this as my way of fulfilling the promise I made to myself, bringing to realization, the dreams of this pack.”
“Anyways, that’s just by the side. I have other reasons for being here.” I said, my eyes moving to Rick, a smile spread across my lips. “There’s just something about the Full moon Pack that just pulls me in. And honestly, I’m still looking to find out.”
“Feel free to take me as one of your own. Cause I do take you as my own people too.”
The crowd echoed in one happy sound, clapping and chanting names that could make any Alpha want to give them their all, but I knew just exactly why I was here.
Full moon Pack made their best effort to entertain me with their talents, in fact everything. Down to the food we ate, every single one of them.
Soon, the welcome dinner came to an end. The closing remarks were given and it was time to head back to our rooms. Though the people still remained in the hall, dancing and celebrating.
I looked down at my phone.
I have barely four hours to sleep. Not a new thing though.
“Kael!” I called, signing to him that we need to leave now.
I stood up, but was quickly called to a pause by the desperate voice of Alpha Azrael.
“Your majesty,” He said with that same innocent smile he always had. His hands brushing his hair gently. “Please let Beta Rick escort you back to your room.”
My eyes moved to Rick who was already prepared to walk with me, ignoring Blaire who had been signaling him for the longest.
“I’m fine on my own.” I said dismissively.
He nodded, not wanting to push further. Rick on the other hand looked disappointed.
As soon as Kael and I got to the hallways leading to the rooms that had been provided for us, he turned to me.
“When are we…” Before he could even complete it, my reply came.
“We live at four!”
He nodded and we parted, entering our rooms which were just opposite each other.
As soon as I locked the door, I leaned against the door, my breath heavy.
That voice from earlier came back into my memory. What’s going on with me? The fact that I couldn’t tell if it was a mind-link or whatever, it just felt so real.
I need to take a shower.
That was when I remembered that I needed help with my zip.
Almost immediately, I heard a knock on my door.
“Scarlette!” His voice came in a whisper.
A scowl had already made its way to my face even before he said another word.
I could hear the guards outside confront him, but he was being stubborn.
“Chill… I have something important to discuss with her, I just need a moment.” He said to the guards, all while trying to keep his voice down.
“It’s late, what do you want?”
“Please can you let me in?” He pleaded, his voice softer than what I’ll normally believe to be Rick’s. “It’s confidential, please.”
“If it has nothing to do with the Pack, then please leave.”
I could hear him sigh heavily, even from behind the closed doors.
He didn’t stop knocking.
“I respect your role as a Beta, but don’t make me handle you roughly.” Evans, my chief body guard said.
“Please just give me a little time…”
I finally opened the door, “Why are you here?” My looks was anything but welcoming.
“I just… Scarlette. Please let’s go in and talk.”
“If you can’t speak here, then you could as well forget about it.”
“I beg you. Just please. You know we still have unfinished business. We need to sort that out, please.”
“Go to bed, Rick.” I said, slamming the door in his face.
“You heard her, now leave before I make you.” Evans said, his voice void of every calmness.
He didn’t knock again after that. Thankfully.
I barely slept, the constant nightmares that came with this place. Those ones that had been etched so deep in my memory that they refused to fade.
Before it was three, I was ready to go. Just waiting for Kael to finally get up. I thought of waking him up, but what was the need of that. I didn’t want to disturb him with my misery. So I just let him.
Within that little time, I picked up my phone. I hadn’t checked any of my messages since last night.
I settled on the white couch by the side of the room. Out of the numerous messages on my screen, one managed to catch my eyes.
“Thank you so much, your majesty, It was such a pleasure to see you smile and relate with the people of Full moon Pack. We really wish to do this with you sometime again.”
That was one.
“From the way people paint you, they make you seem like some kind of monster, but you’re just a sweet soul and I am forever grateful that I’m part of the few that got to see this version of you. I really wish to delve deeper into your personality and know you better.
Yours sincerely,
Alpha Azrael.”
“If only wishes were horses.” I said as I exited the message without giving a reply
I can’t wait for him to realise that I was the same sweet soul they turned into a monster.
“Your majesty,” A soft voice called, his knock light like he had no intentions of disturbing my sleep.
I went ahead to open the door.
Kael came in, he scanned me from head to toe. “You’re dressed?”
“Did you have a nightmare or something?”
“Their faces, I’ll never forget. And I won’t rest till every one of them meets their justice.” I said plainly, staring at the plain wall.
Kael looked at me, concerned. “Is everything alright, your majesty?”
