Isla’s POV
I could hardly believe how my mother had threatened to kill Aaron’s father. I knew he deserved to be punished for his part, but I hadn't expected her to go all crazy like that. I was glad Aaron and Nigel could put Leon in the cells for now. He needed to face his actions the same way that Mrs Jenkins had.
"Luna Isla. Listen. I need to tell you something important.” Sasha said quietly, interrupting my thoughts as we walked together.
“What is it?” I asked, glancing at her and noticing how worried she seemed. I waited for her to answer, not expecting what came out of her mouth.
“We believe we have found the warlock," Sasha revealed, her voice filled with urgency.
We ascended to where the babies were sleeping, their surroundings heavily guarded. The gravity of her words hit me like a sudden wave, causing my eyes to widen in both shock and determination. I instinctively gripped the handrail, seeking its support.
“I can not believe it,” I whispered in surprise, shaking my head. So that is what my mother had probably been coming to tell me, and seeing Leon walk freely from Aaron's confrontation had made her even madder. That made sense to me now.
Sasha noticed my reaction and gasped, quickly wrapping an arm around my waist, providing much-needed stability.
“Should I get your mother or Aaron?” she asked worriedly, but I shook my head.
Taking a deep breath to steady myself, "No. I am fine. However, we cannot allow this threat to persist. We need to confront that warlock and end this once and for all. I have to protect my babies from that creature.” I growled.
“Luna, listen to me. I am only telling you this because Jameson and Celeste plan to take the warlock down, but he seeks only you. Your mother decided it would be best not to tell you since you had not long given birth. This warlock is dangerous.” she mumbled to me as if she were concerned someone would overhear her words.
“That warlock is no match for us. We can take him down and end this now.” The powerful voice of my inner wolf, Cleo, resonated within my mind, echoing my thoughts. Her primal instincts and loyalty drove me forward, empowering me to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As we approached the guarded area where the babies were sleeping, a surge of protective instinct washed over me. These innocent lives were our future entrusted to our care. We could not allow any harm to befall them. Not now, not ever.
I knew that I needed to handle this warlock on my own without involving Aaron or anyone else. My past mistakes had already caused enough pain, and now it was time for me to step up and make amends.
"No. Sasha," I began, my voice filled with conviction, "I cannot let them or Aaron be burdened with the consequences of my actions once again. This is my fight, and I need to make things right."
Understanding filled Sasha's eyes as she nodded in agreement. She knew the magnitude of my decision and the importance of taking responsibility for my past choices. The support and respect shared between us were vital in moments like this.
"I will do whatever it takes to fade this warlock," I continued, steeling myself for the challenges ahead. "But, Sasha, I need you to ensure the safety of our pack and the babies. Protect them at all costs."
Sasha's expression tightened as the weight of my request sank in. She understood the risks of protecting the pack while I confronted the warlock. But, without hesitation, she nodded firmly, giving me her assurance.
"Of course. I will protect them, Luna," Sasha replied firmly. "We trust in your strength and ability to resolve this difficult situation. Just promise me that you'll be careful."
I clasped Sasha's hand, conveying the depth of my appreciation. "Thank you, Sasha. Your support means more than words can express. I will do everything possible to resolve this and make things right."
“Isla, we can do this together,” Cleo assured me, and I nodded in agreement. But first, I had to see the babies were ok and know for myself that they were safe. Sasha followed me into the room and sat in the corner, quietly watching me.
“Baby Carrie and Baby Luke. My beautiful babies.” I whispered as I kissed their little sleeping angelic faces. I didn't want to leave them so soon, but then I reminded myself I was doing this for them and their future.
“Sasha. Look after them. I will return soon.” I told my closest friend, and she nodded silently.
I stood up straight and looked across at the window. I knew it would not be long before Aaron and my mother would appear to check on me and the babies. By then, I planned to have already left. They would only try to stop me from going, but now I was healed, and no longer pregnant, I had to face this warlock.
As I tightened my grip on the amethyst crystal dangling from my neck, its smooth surface cooled against my skin. Leaning against the wall, I closed my eyes, focusing on the swirling energy within, ready to unleash the power of my hybrid Wolf witch abilities for the first time in so long.
"I need to find him," I muttered, determination etching my face. The warlock, whose dark magic had ravaged my world for far too long, had eluded my grasp repeatedly. But now, with my teleportation ability, I was determined to end his reign of terror. It was time to seek answers and bring justice to those who had suffered under his evil rule.
As the moon rose above the night sky, its silvery glow infused my veins with a power surge. My eyes snapped open, glowing with a mix of amber and brilliant blue, an unmistakable sign of my beautiful hybrid heritage.
With a flick of my wrist, I summoned the potent magic coursing through my veins.
