Aaron’s POV

My heart pounded as I waited for my father's response. His revelation sent shockwaves through the room, and Isla's expression turned from confusion to anger. Coming to stand beside her, I wrapped my arm protectively around her waist, silently reassuring her that I was on her side.

"What are you talking about, Father?" I demanded, my voice filled with a mix of anger and curiosity.

Alpha Leon sneered, a malicious gleam in his eyes as he taunted us. "Oh, you didn't think I knew, did you? The truth about Isla's past, the darkness that lies within her."

I tightened my hold on Isla, my protectiveness surging at my father's words. "Tell us, then. What are you trying to insinuate?"

He smiled triumphantly, relishing in the chaos he was causing. "Isla is not what she seems. She's a dangerous hybrid, a threat to our pack's purity. I planned to rid ourselves of her and all the hybrids that plague us."

I felt Isla tense in my arms, her breathing growing shallow. My father's accusation loomed heavily over us, threatening to tear apart everything we had built. But I refused to believe his words without evidence.

"Isla is my mate," I declared firmly, my voice filled with conviction. "I love her, and I trust her. We've faced countless obstacles together, and she has never shown anything but loyalty and love."

Isla's eyes flickered with gratitude as she turned to face me, her voice filled with determination. "You're right, Aaron. I am a hybrid, but that doesn't define me. I've embraced both sides of my heritage and used it to protect and strengthen our pack. My powers have saved us more times than I can count."

Alpha Leon scoffed, dismissing our words as insignificant. "Your love blinds you, Aaron. You cannot see her threat to our pack's traditions and strength. You're compromising everything we stand for."

I felt the fury bubble within me, the injustice of it all urging me to retaliate, to defend the woman I loved. But I knew that reasoning with my father was futile. He had already decided, and nothing I said or did would change that.

"Father, I may have been blind to your true intentions, but I will not be blind to the truth before me," I declared, my voice resolved. "I stand by Isla, no matter what. And if that means challenging and dethroning you as the alpha, then so be it."

Alpha Leon's eyes narrowed, a dangerous glimmer in his gaze. "You would challenge me, your blood? Your alpha?"

I met his gaze head-on, no longer fearing the consequences of my actions. "I would do whatever it takes to protect my pack and the woman I love. If that means challenging you, then I will not hesitate."

Silence fell upon the room, the weight of my words hanging heavily in the air. My father's expression hardened, his features contorted with rage and disappointment. And in that moment, I knew that our paths had diverged irreversibly.

"As you wish," Alpha Leon spat, his voice dripping with venom. "You've made your choice, Aaron. But remember, the consequences of challenging your alpha are grave."

I watched as he stormed out of the room, the door slamming shut behind him. A sense of finality settled within me, the weight of my decision lifting the burden of betrayal that had plagued me for far too long.

Turning to Isla, I cupped her face in my hands, my voice filled with determination. "We will face the challenges ahead together, Isla. No matter what happens, we have each other."

She nodded, tears streaming down her face but a steely resolve in her eyes. "I believe in us, Aaron. And I trust that together, we can overcome whatever lies ahead."

"No, he absolutely cannot leave," Esmeralda declared, suddenly materialising beside my father, her hands tightly gripping his neck.

"Mother, I implore you to lower that menacing knife and release him immediately!" Isla's voice resonated with urgency and authority. I couldn't help but gasp in disbelief as my gaze fixated on the knife tightly held by my mate's mother.

Despite my father's unforgivable betrayal, I knew deep down that resorting to murder was not the solution we sought.

I intervened, my heart pounding as I stepped between them. "Esmeralda, what are you doing? Put the knife down!"

She turned to face me, her eyes wild with fury. "He's a traitor! He's been plotting against us for all this time. He cannot get away with this, and I need to protect my daughter and those grandbabies of mine!" she snarled. She was powerful against my father and his wolf side. My father knew it, too.

My father struggled against her grip, his eyes pleading with me for help. "Aaron, please! She's gone too far!"

I hesitated momentarily, torn between my loyalty to my father and my love for Esmeralda as the mother of my beloved Luna.

“Mother, please.” Isla tried to reason with her mother.

She hesitated for a moment, her eyes flickering with uncertainty. "But he deserves it! He's been a threat to this pack for too long! Do you care more for him or your pack?”

“Esmeralda. Please. Let me go.” my father begged her as the chains on his wrists rattled.

“How will you punish him for his actions?” Esmeralda demanded to know. “He has betrayed our trust and allowed the hybrids to be put at risk, including your daughter, my mate. Do you think that is forgivable?”

Isla's eyes blazed with fury as she stepped forward, her voice filled with conviction. "Yes. Your Father's actions have been a betrayal to us all, but we cannot condone violence or murder. We need to find a peaceful solution to this problem."

I felt a pang of sadness and guilt as I realised the depth of pain and betrayal. My father's actions had not only hurt her but also our entire pack. I knew that we needed to find a way to make things right, to heal the wounds that had been inflicted.

"Father, I understand your regret and remorse, but we cannot condone violence or murder. We need to find a peaceful solution to this problem," I said firmly, my voice filled with conviction.

Esmeralda narrowed her eyes at me, her gaze filled with suspicion. "And what solution do you propose, Aaron? Your father has betrayed us all, and we cannot just let him go unpunished."

I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before speaking. "We need to hold a council meeting to discuss this matter thoroughly. We must hear both sides of the story and make a fair and just decision for all parties involved."

Isla nodded in agreement, her eyes filled with understanding. "Yes, that's a good idea. We need to listen to everyone's perspective and find a way forward that benefits our pack as a whole."

Esmeralda's hesitation lingered momentarily, and her gaze fixated on Aaron before finally conceding with a nod of agreement. "Very well," she spoke, her tone firm and resolute. "But let it be known, Aaron, that your father's actions have not gone unnoticed. He will face the consequences of his deeds, regardless of what may transpire."

As the weight of our discussion settled, I turned my attention to the sound of approaching footsteps. My trusted Beta, Nigel, swiftly approached us, his eyes filled with concern and curiosity. Sensing the situation's urgency, I met his gaze, conveying the gravity of what was unfolding.

"Nigel, come," I called out, the authority in my voice clear. Jameson, Sasha, and Celeste joined Nigel at his side, forming a united front. "We need to secure him," I continued, crisp and focused. There was no room for hesitation regarding protecting our pack and bringing justice to those who had caused harm.

Sasha, always a steadfast pillar of support, took hold of my mate's hand and led her away, ensuring her safety and guiding her towards the sanctuary of the babies.

“Esmeralda. We need to talk.” Jameson insisted as he and Celeste took her hands and led her away.

My focus now shifted to the daunting task of locking up my father, a man whose actions had led us to this pivotal moment.

“Let us go,” I ordered, urging my father to move forward; a thick silence hung in the air. His lack of response spoke volumes, his guilt apparent even in silence.
