Isla’s POV
I looked up at my mother, my heart aching with her concern. She was correct; the situation was dangerous, and being pregnant and unable to shift put me at a significant disadvantage. But I couldn't shake the feeling that staying with the pack was the right choice for me and my baby.
"Mother, I understand your worries," I began, trying to keep my voice steady. "But I believe that staying here with the pack is the best decision for us. We have Alpha Leon's assurance that he will protect us, and I have faith in our ability to overcome any challenges that come our way."
My mother's eyes were filled with frustration and love as she listened to my words. "You're risking too much, Isla," she said, her voice heavy with concern. "I know you feel connected to this baby and want to protect it, but we don't know what dangers lie ahead. And without your shifting abilities, you'll be vulnerable."
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts and finding the strength to stand my ground. "Mother, I've seen the power of love and unity within this pack. I've witnessed acts of bravery and sacrifice. If we hide away out of fear, we'll never be able to create change or challenge the misconceptions surrounding hybrids and witches."
My mother's gaze softened, and she stepped closer, gently touching my shoulder. "Isla, I appreciate your determination and belief in this pack," she said softly. "But as a mother, my instinct is to protect you and the baby at all costs. I fear what might happen if we stay."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at my mother, feeling the conflicting emotions within me. I loved and respected her immensely, and her fears were not unfounded. But I also knew that sometimes, taking risks was necessary to bring about change.
"Mother, I know the risks," I said, my voice filled with conviction and vulnerability. "But I can't let fear dictate my choices. Together, with the support of the pack, we can face whatever comes our way. And maybe, just maybe, we can create a safer and better world for our child."
My mother's eyes glistened with tears as she looked into my eyes, her voice filled with sadness and acceptance. "Isla, I can't say I fully understand or agree with your decision," she said, trembling. "But as your mother, I will stand by you. I will support you and do everything possible to keep you and the baby safe."
I embraced my mother tightly, feeling her love and support enveloping me. At that moment, I knew that even though the road ahead would be difficult, I had made the right choice. And with my mother by my side, I would face whatever challenges came our way.
As we pulled apart, Emma and Sasha stood nearby, their expressions filled with concern and determination. "Luna Isla, please consider our information," Emma pleaded, her voice filled with urgency. "Mrs. Jenkins may be a threat to the pack. We need to handle this situation carefully."
I nodded, understanding the gravity of their words. "Thank you for bringing this to my attention," I said, my voice sincere. "We will address the situation, but we won't let fear drive our decisions. We will approach it with caution and the unity of the pack."
Emma and Sasha exchanged glances before nodding, their trust in me evident. "We believe in you, Luna Isla," Sasha said, her voice filled with determination. "Together, we'll protect the pack and overcome any challenges that come our way."
I turned to my mother, taking her hand in mine. "Let's face this threat head-on, Mother," I said, my voice confident. "We'll protect our pack, family, and the future of hybrids and witches. Together. Mrs Jenkins and her people would not destroy us.”
“We need to get rid of her right away.” Emma interrupted me and let out a lowly growl of impatience.
I raised an eyebrow at Emma's vehement response. Her eyes were filled with determination, and her hands clenched into fists. She was fed up with Mrs Jenkins and her meddling ways. We all were.
Sasha, always the peacemaker, tried to intervene. "Emma, calm down. Let's think this through rationally."
But Emma was not to be deterred. "No, Sasha! We've put up with Mrs Jenkins for far too long. It's time to confront her and end her interference in our lives once and for all."
I nodded in agreement, feeling a surge of courage. "You're right, Emma. We can't keep allowing her to manipulate us and meddle in our affairs. It's time to take control."
“Where is she?” I demanded, and together, the four of us hurried to the edge of the pack territory. I knew Aaron would not be happy I had gone with them, but I would deal with that later.
“She's in the cave,” Sasha answered me, causing my eyes to widen.
Alpha Leon had had her taken to the cave. What was the point of that?
My mother, Emma and Sasha followed me through the dense forest, shadows dancing between the trees as we ventured deeper into the pack territory. The scent of damp earth filled the air, mingling with the anticipation and determination that simmered within us.
As we approached the cave hidden amidst the thicket, a foreboding chill crept up my spine. I pushed forward, the dim light filtering through the treetops guiding our way. The sound of muffled cries grew louder, echoing off the cave walls.
“She's here.” my mother muttered, sensing her.
With caution, we entered the cave, our eyes adjusting to the gloom. And there, in the heart of the rocky chamber, we found her - Mrs Jenkins. Tied and chained, her once regal demeanour was replaced with exhaustion and desperation.
“Free me.” She pleaded. “Free me now, you little beasts.” her tone getting angry.
“Dream on, you evil woman.” Emma retorted as Sasha pulled her back from Mrs Jenkins.
“I said you will regret this, and Mark my words, Luna Isla. You will regret this immensely. You will seek redemption.” she cackled. “Those babies. You can't protect them.” a sickly grin formed on her face.
I ignored her words and pushed Cleo back down as she whirled around in my mind; she was infuriated that she could not get to Mrs Jenkins.
“Calm down, Cleo. We will be ok.” I assured my Wolf.
My mother, her eyes burning with ancient knowledge and pure intent, stepped forward. We all gripped each other's hands and began a rhythmic chant that vibrated through the air around us.
As the words of the spell flowed from our lips, tendrils of energy snaked out, wrapping themselves around Mrs Jenkins. Her eyes widened, terror filling her features as the power within her began to drain away.
“NO!” She yelled.
The cavern reverberated with the force of her screams, the sound bouncing off the walls like a cascade of chaos. Her struggles intensified, but the magic held her fast, unyielding to her desperate attempts to break free.
Emma, her voice filled with determination, joined in the chant, her strength joining ours. All eyes locked on Mrs Jenkins, witnessing the culmination of our resolve.
Time seemed to stretch, the minutes ticking in a symphony of suffering and release. And then, as the last remnants of Mrs Jenkins' power were ripped away, a blinding light filled the cave, enveloping us all.
As the light subsided, Mrs Jenkins slumped forward, her body weakened, her power stripped. Me and my mother released our grip on each other, the echoes of the spell fading into the silence of the cave.
With a growl, Emma stepped forward, her eyes blazing with defiance. "You are no more, Mrs Jenkins," she spat, her voice filled with triumph and the weight of justice. “You got what you deserved, and I hope you will rot now.”
