Chapter 36
“What would your parents think of me? Of us?” Janine asked Porter as they were watching movies on the living room of his condominium unit.
She loves Porter so much and she knows that it would be hard for them to be approved by their parents. Her parents know that she’s with Johann. And Johann is Porter’s cousin. What would they think of her? She’s worried of everything others would think of her, of Porter.
Porter looked at her with a raised brow. “They don’t matter at all, Janine. I don’t like them meddling with my personal life anyway.” He replied as he planted a kiss on her ear. “If they won’t approve us, then we won’t insist. I can fund you and our children just fine.” He smiled as he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer to him.
Janine gulped at how advanced Porter is already thinking. He’s already thinking of building a family with her. That’s one thing. He’s serious with her.
“But don’t their opinions really matter?” She asked, anxious still. “They are your parents, Porter. Their opinions would always matter.” She reiterated.
Porter looked at her and sighed. “But if they don’t approve our relationship, their opinions wouldn’t matter.” He replied calmly. “I’ve faced hell for you. I wouldn’t take a no from anyone when it comes to being with you. I will be with you. Forever. By hook or by crook. I don’t care what I’d have to give up. I don’t care about anything as long as I have you.” He smiled at her and pulled her even closer. “Got that, Baby? I won’t let anyone or anything come between us.”
Janine looked at him and smiled, touched of everything he just said. He was willing to give up everything for her. His family. His luxurious life. Everything. Everything for her.
“I am the luckiest woman in the world.” She whispered as she planted a kiss on his cheeks. “I’m very lucky to have you as my man.”
Porter grinned and kissed her lips passionately. “You’re not. I am the lucky one.” He whispered in between the kisses. “What did I do to deserve a woman like you?” He smiled as he connected their foreheads.
Janine chuckled. Suddenly, all her worries are gone. Only Porter could make her worries go away.
All she had to do is to think of right now. She’s with Porter, who’s willing to give her the moon and the stars. He’s doing everything for her. He’s willing to turn his back on anyone for her. And he’s serious. He’s damn serious for her.
“I love you.” That was all she could tell him after everything he said.
Porter smiled at her. “I love you more, Baby. Don’t think of anything, alright? I will never leave you.” He assured her as he hugged her tight.
They stayed like that for a while. Amidst everything, every obstacle, at the end of the day, all they need to be is to stay together and everything seems alright.
“Are you tired?” Porter asked as he kissed the top of her head.
Janine lazily nodded. Her eyes are almost closing.
“Come on.” Porter held her hand and asked her to stand up. “I’ll tuck you to bed.” He beamed as he led her to his room.
He made her rest on his bed. Janine looked at him. “Where are you going to sleep then?” She asked.
Porter smiled. “I’ll sleep on the couch, Baby. Don’t worry.” He replied as he kissed her forehead.
Janine narrowed her eyes at him. “You can sleep here.” She said.
Porter looked at her. “That’s going to be hard, baby. I don’t want to rush you.” He shook his head.
Janine smiled. “We’ll just sleep, Porter. Nothing will happen.” She replied.
They stared at each other for a moment before L let out a deep breath. “Alright. We’ll just sleep.” He gave in.
Janine smiled and inched to the side for Porter to sleep on too.
Porter slowly lied beside her. “Can we cuddle?” He asked with a serious voice.
Janine chuckled weakly even though her heart is beating incredibly fast. “Do you wanna cuddle?” She asked.
Porter grinned. “Baby, that’s my heaven. Of course I wanna cuddle with you.” He replied. “Don’t worry. We’ll just sleep and cuddle. Nothing more. Unless you want…” A creepy smile flashed from his face.
Janine immediately hit him with a pillow and he laughed. It’s not like he would be her first because she has done it with Johann before. But the thing is, she wants to do it with Porter in a more special event. He’s not her first anymore so she wants him to be the most memorable. Especially with the intensity of love she is feeling for him now.
“Come on, Janine. Let me hug you to sleep.” He beamed as he held his arms wide open.
Janine stared at him, trying to prevent the small smile from flashing through her lips. “Whatever.” She beamed but she was pulled into Porter’s arms.
It felt comfortable. It was like she’s at home in his arms. That’s what she’s holding onto right now. She loves him. He loves her. Their love is difficult but at least it’s real.
“How many children do you want?” Porter asked her as she laid her head on Porter’s chest.
“Two.” She replied curtly.
“Just two?” Porter’s brow raised.
She nodded. “I don’t want a big family, Porter. I don’t want a basketball team.” She chuckled.
Porter laughed. “But that’s what I want, Baby. I want to build a basketball team with you.” She pinched his chest and he laughed harder.
“Alright, alright. Two, then.” Porter gave up. “Where do you want to live, baby? Seoul or Busan?” He asked again.
Janine looked at him this time. “Why?” She asked curiously.
Porter shrugged. “So that I would know where to buy a house.” He replied.
Janine raised her eyebrow. “You seem to have a lot of money, Supervisor Kim.” She kidded.
Porter smiled. “I do, Mrs. Kim.” He replied that made Janine’s cheeks burn. Mrs. Kim. He wants to marry her. He’s really serious about her. “So just tell me what you need and I’ll give it to you in a blink.”
“Where’d you get all those money?” She asked curiously.
Porter shrugged. “I’ve been working since I graduated. I’ve been investing on different companies since college. Luckily, I’m not a lavish spender. I have a lot of money in my bank account.” He replied nonchalantly but proudly.
Janine stared at him in awe. She didn’t know that L was this futuristic in thinking. “But—”
“Sshh. Sleep now, Mrs. Kim. I’m going to introduce you to my friends tomorrow.” He smiled as he hugged her tight and closed his eyes. “I love you.” He said with his eyes closed.
Janine smiled. Damn. She loves him, too. Too much.
--
“Porter Kim!”
A loud voice awakened L and Janine’s peaceful sleep.
“Porter Kim! Open your goddamn door and let us see your girlfriend!” Another voice was yelling from the other side of the door.
Janine looked at Porter curiously. “Who’re they?” She asked.
Porter just sighed and got up much to his disappointment. Damn. He wanted to cuddle with her more.
“Porter Kim—”
The voice stopped when Porter opened the door with a mad face. “What is it, Serge?!” He asked annoyed. “Why are you so loud? It’s too early!” He whined.
Janine’s heart raced when she saw Porter’s friend’s face. She didn’t know that meeting the friends is as scary as meeting the parents.
Serge rolled his eyes. “It’s eleven in the morning, idiot! What’s early with that? It’s almost lunch time and you haven’t showed up!” He replied as he opened the door wider and looked at Janine. “Oh! You are Janine Kwon?” He asked as he yanked Porter out of his way and walked over to Janine.
“I am Serge Lee.” He smiled as he extended his hand to her. “I am Porter’s best friend.” He introduced himself.
Janine looked at his hand in front of her before taking it. “Janine Kwon. Porter’s—”
“Girlfriend.” Serge cut his words. “No need to elaborate. I know everything about you.” He grinned that showed his precious set of white teeth. “Come out? The others are waiting at the dining table.” He told her before walking out of the room.
Janine stared at Porter who’s standing near the door with narrowed at her. “What?” She asked.
“Why did you touch his hand?” He asked, frustrated.
Janine blinked. “I just shook his hand.” She defended.
Porter sighed and walked over to his bed, inching close to Janine. “I’m jealous.” He said in a husky voice.
Janine gulped because her heart is beating incredibly fast and she couldn’t contain everything anymore. Her cheeks are burning.
“Do something about it, Baby? Do something about my jealousy.” He whispered and kissed her ear.
Janine’s eyes immediately closed when his lips touched her earlobes. “Porter…” She breathed as Porter’s kiss trailed to her cheek.
“No touching of other man, Mrs. Kim. From now on, you’re only allowed to touch me. Me alone.”
