Chapter 25
Janine woke up with Johann looking at her with a smiling face. She blinked thrice before she realized what had happened the night before.
They made love.
She gulped as she looked at Johann who’s smiling widely. “Good morning?” She spoke awkwardly. She didn’t know why she is this awkward when the truth is she has been in this kind of situation with him. This isn’t the first time that she woke up with Johann beside her but she felt really uncomfortable.
Johann chuckled and kissed the top of her nose. “Good morning, Baby love.” He whispered softly. “I love you.”
Janine smiled at him but the truth is, her heart suffocating. She isn’t feeling any good for this. She isn’t feeling good at all.
Johann didn’t even notice that she hasn’t replied to his I love you because he is so into missing her. He is missing her. Damn, how could he not when it has been a very long time since he has held her like this?
“Let’s go on a date today.” He stated.
She narrowed her eyes on him. “I have work.” She replied.
He sighed. “Can’t you absent yourself just for me?” He pouted. “Come on. File a leave for today and be with me.” He suggested.
She frowned at him. Never has he made her choose between him and her work because he knows how important her work is for her. That’s why she’s surprised that he is making her choose right now. But she could totally understand that he just misses her too damn much that he is acting like this. But…
“I’m sorry, Johann. I have to finish a lot of paper works today.” She reasoned out because it’s the truth. She’s working on more deals right now since Christmas is coming up.
Johann sighed. “It’s okay, Baby love. I understand.” He replied.
Janine looked at him. “We could eat lunch together.” She suggested to make him feel better. Until now, she still doesn’t like to see Johann disappointed. Hell, she has been with him for year. He has been her world for years and until now, so she couldn’t bear to see him sad because of her.
Johann smiled and planted a soft, swift kiss on her lips. “Alright, Baby Love. I’ll see you at lunch.” He beamed.
Janine smiled. Okay. She’ll see him at lunch.

“Oh my gosh! What did you do with your boyfriend last night?” Yasmin asked excitedly as Janine arrived in her office.
Janine rolled her eyes and shook her head. “Nothing!” She beamed. There’s this thing called privacy and she wished Yasmin knew about it.
Yasmin narrowed her eyes on her. “I don’t believe you.” She stated. “This is the first time that you met in a year so, yeah. You did nothing? Who are you kidding, Kwon?!” She shook her head.
Janine shook her head. “We did nothing.” She insisted. “Why are you so worked up with us anyway?” She asked.
“Because, sissy, your relationship is the perfect example of how distance couldn’t do anything about true love.” She replied.
Janine stopped at her words. True love. Yeah right.
Somehow, it went coming back to her. Is distance not the issue? Did distance make their love grow fonder?
She didn’t know. How could she know when her eyes darted to that one door that she wanted to enter since she came in.
Did he arrive already?
Has he had his breakfast?
She sighed then she felt her phone vibrate.
From: Porter Kim Good morning! Did you enjoy your date with him last night?
Janine couldn’t help but sigh when she read his message. How could he be this curious if she enjoyed it last night when she knows to herself that he is jealous and he is hurt?
He’s damn hurt and it’s because of her.
She didn’t know why she suddenly felt this urge to comfort him. She didn’t want him hurt. She didn’t want him sad.
Hell! She is this confused.
She loves Johann. That’s a fact. But Porter Kim. There is something about him that gives her butterflies in her stomach and that makes her don’t want to leave.
To: Porter Kim Are you here? Where are you?
She couldn’t help but feel really curious if he’s here. She badly wants to talk to him and maybe even hug him tight. She didn’t know but her urges told her so.
From: Porter Kim I’m on the elevator. Why? Want to talk to me? Want me to come up to the rooftop and let’s meet there?
Janine sighed as she read his message.
To: Porter Kim Yes. I’ll see you there.
She sent the message and then she stood up and walked in front of the elevator to go to the rooftop. She breathed deeply as she couldn’t think straight.
All she knows is that everything is getting complicated. Her mind. Her feelings. Her heart. Her life. Everything about this love is getting complicated.
She’s getting scared. What’s she going to do when the time comes and she needs to choose?
She shut her eyes and prayed that it won’t happen anytime soon.
The elevator door opened and she was shocked to see Porter alone in it. He’s wearing a navy blue button down shirt with the sleeves folded up to his elbows and black slacks. Hell, he looked so godly.
Porter looked at her and suddenly, her world stopped.
Damn it. How did it happen like that? He just looked at her.
She was trembling when she entered the elevator. Her heart is beating loudly and fast and she could feel really uncomfortable.
“Good morning.” Porter spoke as he watched her.
Janine didn’t even look at him but she could feel the intensity of his stare on her periphery. Her heart is slamming loudly in her chest and she could feel herself melting with each gaze.
“G-good m-morning.” She replied with a trembling voice.
She could hear Porter’s chuckle and she took a deep breath.
The elevator opened at the top most floor and they went to the stairs to reach the rooftop.
This is one of the safest places in this building. No one is coming any time soon because everyone is busy with their deals.
Porter suddenly wrapped his arms around Janine’s waist and hugged her from behind, resting his chin on top of her head. “I miss you, Baby.” He whispered making Janine’s system shake again.
Janine shut her eyes and breathed deeply as he felt his hug tighten. Oh, Porter. How you make her feel this confused. She didn’t even bother that he called her Baby.
“Did you have fun with him last night?” He asked.
Janine sighed. Did she have fun?
“Baby, if you have your time with him, you should enjoy it.” He spoke. “I’m fucking dying to make you happy every single day so you should always have fun with everything you do.”
Janine paused as she heard him. “Even with him?” She asked.
She heard Porter sigh hard.
“Yes. Even with him.” He replied as he loosened his grip on her and made her face him. He looked into her eyes. “I’m letting you have your own time with him because that’s what I promised you. I promised you that I would be cool with anything you with him. So, you have to have fun with him. Not because I want to but because I don’t want my sacrifice to go to waste.” He explained as he planted a soft kiss on her lips.
Janine suddenly felt a surge of electricity running through her spine as Porter’s lips touched hers – one she didn’t feel with Johann. The butterflies in her stomach are flying crazily because she’s getting too uncomfortable with the kiss.
Too uncomfortable but hell, she didn’t want this to end.
“I love you, Janine.” Porter whispered as he connected their foreheads. “I will do everything to make you happy.”
“Even if it means your happiness?” She asked.
Porter grinned. “Damn. Your happiness is more than my entire world.” He stated. “I would give up everything for your happiness, Baby.” He finished making Janine sigh.
This is getting complicated.
Her feelings are lingering over somewhere they shouldn’t be.
