Chapter 473 Her Ordeal

Chapter 473 Her Ordeal

Daisy didn't answer Isabella's question. Instead, her eyes went wide with terror, she covered her mouth, and started crying silently.

Isabella followed Daisy's gaze to the TV, which was showing the news. Freya's youthful face filled the screen. She had started a charity to help young women who were pregnant out of wedlock.

The news segment ended quickly, but Daisy still wouldn't say anything, trembling in Isabella's arms.

Isabella signaled Terry and Michael to leave the room. She stayed behind to take care of Natalia and Daisy.

After the two men left, Daisy gradually calmed down, though she stayed silent and often stared blankly at the sky.

Isabella didn't push Daisy for answers. Michael was swamped with work and couldn't be there, so she stayed at the nursing home to focus on caring for Natalia. With Isabella around, even the professional caregivers found themselves with little to do.

Three uneventful days passed.

"Ms. Taylor, are you the godmother's daughter?" Daisy asked as Isabella handed Natalia over to the nurse.

Isabella was surprised. "Why do you ask?"

Daisy explained, "The godmother once told me she had a daughter. I think she took care of me because she thought of her own daughter. Ms. Taylor, you treat the godmother so well; you must be her daughter!"

Isabella held Daisy's hand and nodded gently, sensing that Daisy had something important to share. She discreetly activated the recording function on her phone with her other hand.

Daisy continued, "I saw your husband online and learned he's the chairman of the Johnson Group. I think he has the power to avenge the godmother. So, Ms. Taylor, I'm going to tell you everything I know. The woman on TV that day is my grandmother's daughter and my biological mother."

"Are you talking about Freya?" Isabella asked, shocked.

Daisy nodded and continued, "After the godmother passed away, my grandmother's daughter returned and wanted to take me away. My grandmother was furious, saying she had ruined the godmother and couldn't be allowed to ruin me, too. During their argument, my grandmother accidentally fell, suffered a brain hemorrhage, and died. I was forcibly taken away and only then did I realize she wanted me to get pregnant."

Daisy choked up and couldn't continue. Isabella didn't know how to comfort her, so she held Daisy and gently patted her back. After a while, Daisy regained her composure and continued, "She locked me in a hospital owned by the Castillo Group. There were many women there, some as young as me, others in their forties or fifties. She made us get pregnant and then forced abortions to use the placentas for medicine."

"That's horrifying! She's utterly heartless!" Isabella exclaimed.

Daisy nodded. "There was a woman there who, after learning about my connection to the godmother, helped me escape. That's when I found out the godmother had endured the same treatment for years, and her body had been destroyed by them."

Isabella couldn't take it anymore. She stood up, her expression heavy. "I can't stay here any longer, Daisy. You'll have to keep looking after my mom. I need to go to Silvermist City. I can't wait any longer. I'll arrange for bodyguards to protect you both."

Daisy grabbed Isabella's hand, nervously asking, "Ms. Taylor, what's wrong? What are you going to do? You can't fight her alone. I reported her to the police, but it didn't help."

"Don't worry. Just take good care of her until I get back," Isabella reassured her, patting her hand.

After stepping into the yard, Isabella took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and headed to Terry's office.

Before going to Silvermist City, she needed to ask Terry to look after Natalia.

Meanwhile, Michael had already received a call from Terry, who informed him that Natalia's medical report was ready. Michael was sitting in Terry's office.

"Your mother-in-law's condition is tragic. In all my years of practice, I've never seen a body so ravaged. She's not even fifty, yet none of her organs are functioning properly. It's too cruel. I can't bear to tell you; you should see for yourself," Terry said, handing the report to Michael.

Michael looked at the medical jargon on the report, unable to understand it fully but still grasping the severity of the situation.

"You see, it's hard to believe what she's been through. I didn't dare show this report to your wife, so I called you to discuss what to do," Terry explained.

"Isabella can't see this report," Michael insisted.

If Isabella saw the report, she would be devastated.

"Of course, the report is in your hands. Whether to tell her and how to tell her is up to you. If she asks about the report, I'll say you took it. You'll have to figure out how to explain it to her," Terry said.

Terry knew the report couldn't be shown to Isabella, so he had told her it wasn't ready yet and privately called Michael to make the decision.

Michael glanced at Terry, nodding heavily.

He knew how much this would affect Isabella, and he didn't know how to break the news.

Seeing Michael's struggle, Terry suggested, "Maybe we should keep it from her? I can have a new report made without the harsh details. Freya is so vicious; I feel like confronting her myself."

Just as Michael was about to agree, a cold voice came from outside the door, "No need. I already know everything. Don't hide it from me."

Michael's heart tightened. He rushed to open the door and grabbed Isabella's hand, asking nervously, "Isabella, are you okay? What did you hear?"

Isabella's face was calm, but her deep eyes were filled with intense hatred. She spoke calmly, "Michael, don't hide it from me. I know everything. Daisy told me."

Isabella's voice choked as she spoke. She took out her phone and played the recording of her conversation with Daisy.

"Freya was my dad's idol. He sure had poor taste, falling for such a heartless woman," Terry remarked, shaking his head.

Michael took out his phone and called Aaron, instructing him to expedite the acquisition.

The thought of Freya living a good life while enjoying the world made him uncomfortable.

Justice would be served, and he would ensure it.
