Chapter 469 Refusal to Visit
Chapter 469 Refusal to Visit
Isabella bit her lip and stayed quiet for a moment before turning to Lucy. "Lucy, you head home. I'm going to the nursing home."
Lucy looked worried. "But we came in the same car. How am I supposed to get back if you leave?"
Isabella was already walking away, not giving her a chance to argue.
Once she got into the car, Isabella tried calling Michael, but his phone was still off. At first, no one answered, and then it went straight to voicemail.
Thinking back on everything since she got home yesterday, Isabella realized she had fallen asleep quickly and didn't even know when Michael had left.
She woke up early in the morning to find him gone. He must have left while she was asleep, and she had no clue.
What an idiot!
This was their problem to deal with together, so why did he insist on handling it alone?
When the car pulled up to the nursing home, the security guard at the entrance stopped her.
After explaining her situation, the guard made a call to check but still refused, saying, "Sorry, the person you want to visit doesn't want to see you. You can't go in."
Isabella felt both embarrassed and hurt. She hadn't expected Wesley to refuse to see her.
"Could you please call again and tell him I want to see Michael?" she pleaded, not ready to give up.
The guard shook his head. "I'm sorry, but we can't keep bothering the patients. If you really need to go in, you should call yourself."
Isabella thought, if I could get through, I wouldn't be asking you for help.
She had already called Wesley several times, but he wouldn't answer.
Unable to explain this to the guard, she stood there anxiously, feeling helpless.
"Isabella?"
A car pulled up behind her and stopped nearby.
The window rolled down, and Terry's smiling face appeared.
Isabella ran over excitedly, grabbing his arm. "Dr. Castillo, it's so good to see you."
Terry, startled by her enthusiasm, waved his hands frantically. "Isabella, what are you doing? Let me tell you, Michael and I are good friends. Don't get any ideas about me, or I'll be in a tough spot."
Feeling awkward, Isabella let go of Terry's arm, wishing she could slap him to prove her innocence. But to achieve her goal, she suppressed the urge and explained through gritted teeth, "Dr. Castillo, don't worry. I have no intentions towards you. I'm just happy to see you because you can get me inside."
With that, she opened his car door and got in.
The guard was speechless as he watched Isabella get into the director's car. How could he stop her now?
Terry didn't drive off immediately but instead asked curiously, "What happened? You can't get in?"
Isabella, frustrated, replied, "If I could get in, I wouldn't be in your car."
"Why won't the guard let you in? We don't have a rule against family visits."
Terry asked as he started driving.
Faced with Terry's curiosity, Isabella answered reluctantly, "Your hospital may not have a rule against family visits, but you do require the patient's consent. I can't get in because my grandfather doesn't want to see me, so the guard won't let me in."
"Mr. Wesley Johnson doesn't want to see you? Why? If he doesn't want to see you, why are you trying to get in? Are you looking for trouble?" Terry asked, puzzled.
Isabella replied urgently, "I'm here for Michael. Grandpa doesn't want to see me, and that's fine, but I need to see Michael. Michael is inside, and Kenna told me Grandpa made him kneel at the door. I'm really worried about him, so I have to see him."
Terry sighed, "I'm here for the same reason. The nursing home staff called me, saying Michael was kneeling at Mr. Wesley Johnson's door. Do you know why? Mr. Wesley Johnson usually adores him and wouldn't let anything happen to him. Why would he make him kneel now?"
"It's all my fault," Isabella said with a bitter smile, lowering her head. "We lost our baby. I couldn't protect our child, and Grandpa is angry because of that. He was so looking forward to the baby, and I let him lose his great-grandchild."
"Don't blame yourself too much. From a doctor's perspective, it's definitely not your fault. As a mother, you would have done everything to protect your child. From a friend's perspective, you're also a victim, so it's not your fault. Mr. Wesley Johnson might just be having a hard time accepting it. Older people can be stubborn, like my dad. I've noticed he's becoming more unreasonable as he gets older. So I suggest you let Michael handle this. Don't get involved. No matter how they argue, they're still family, and there's no lasting grudge. If you get involved, it changes the dynamic."
Terry advised, using his persuasive skills.
Isabella frowned slightly, knowing Terry was right.
But thinking about how long Michael had been kneeling, she felt heartbroken and worried, "I don't know if he's still kneeling or if his body can handle it."
"He's a man; kneeling isn't a big deal. Kneeling to his grandfather is nothing. Let me go in and check the situation first. If it's resolved, you don't need to go in and stir things up. If it's not resolved, I'll come out and tell you, and you can go in then," Terry suggested.
"Okay, thank you, Dr. Castillo." Isabella agreed to wait.
Terry parked the car and told Isabella to wander around the nursing home while he went in to check the situation. He promised to call her once he knew what was going on.
Isabella watched Terry leave and then strolled around the nursing home. It was beautifully built, like a large park, and she wandered off without realizing it.
Terry arrived at Wesley's residence and rang the doorbell. A nurse quickly came to open the door.
Seeing him, the nurse greeted respectfully, "Dr. Castillo, hello."
"How long has Michael been kneeling?"
Terry glanced inside and saw Michael still kneeling, lowering his voice to ask.
"Mr. Michael Johnson came in the middle of the night and has been kneeling outside since. In the morning, Mr. Wesley Johnson didn't want anyone to see and be embarrassed, so he let him kneel inside," The nurse replied in a low voice.
Terry shook his head, feeling sorry for Michael. No wonder Isabella was worried; he felt bad for him too.
Terry walked in, calling out loudly, "Mr. Wesley Johnson, I'm here to see you."
Ignoring Michael kneeling on the floor, Terry cheerfully approached Wesley.
