Chapter 15 Chapter 15
SERAPHINA
Ever since I finally understood what my mother's thoughts towards the innocent man was, it changed my perspective.
I knew that most people always advised that you shouldn't get mad at your parents because you did not know what they were going through. That was not the case here.
Isolate as a clear bridge of contract especially when somebody had been nothing but kind to you but she wanted me to understand things from her perspective and that was never going to happen as long as I was concerned.
She had already done the unthinkable and it was up to her to stomach the consequences.
"You look a little bit distracted." My mother called, smiling like I did every person that made her happy and like I could hang the moon from the sky but that wasn't the case at all.
She was only good at pretending and I was very angry at myself. It's not easy to detect it all along.
I had been making a fool out of myself thinking that I had a mother not knowing that I only had someone who was an opportunist and now she was trying to also lay it on thick with me.
"Is there anything I can do to solve your problems cuz you look like you're a little bit distracted?"
If she was offering to put her head on a platter and give me the opportunity to sever it, I honestly didn't think I had a problem with that but if she was trying to make it look like she was the best person around here then she was getting on my nerves.
All I wanted right now was some time to myself and just to be able to know what she was feeling deep inside of her towards the man in question and after then I could be able to move on with my life like it was nobody's business.
Everybody's kind heart is really making things work in their favor and I was also one of the people who committed myself to making sure that this wasn't a normal occurrence here and there.
It was something that could be fought for and something that we could easily vanish.
"I'm just a little bit skeptical about a few things because ever since you remarried you've been so happy that I begin to wonder if you ever loved my dad." I had no choice but to blurt out.
If she had any contrary opinion she did well not to talk about it and I was happy at the same time but I still believed that she needed to know what was actually going on instead of being blindsided or all the time.
"Are you asking me to be unhappy with the fact that I finally found a good man?"
If she found a good man then why was she making a fool of herself? It was on my tongue to tell her the truth but I realized that I would only be wasting my time.
All the people involved in this knew how hard I worked just to be able to get things in order.
I hated anything that was going to stress me out and honestly speaking I was also tired of just relaxing, I wanted to start whatever again from scratch and make sure that everything was settled before it was too late.
My mother needed to understand that a lot of people were going to be mad at her for what she had decided to do and she needed to come up.
"Do you think that he probably wants to cheat on you? Has he shown that he has been faithful for a long time and that's why you have decided to just be with him through it all?"
The pressure was too much on me. I was starting to think that I couldn't even keep a secret but at the same time she was the one who had managed to get on my nerves.
She was the one who was frolicking with another person who she shouldn't even have been having anything to do with in the first place and expected me not to be mad at her?
It was crazy how she expected me to be one of those kids that was going to support her whenever she was going the wrong way.
And it was on my tongue to tell her the truth but at the same time, I figured out that I was going to be wasting my time so there was no need for me to do all of that.
My mother looked at me like she was trying to figure me out but babe you wouldn't be able to do it because I was going to be as smooth as hell.
Too many reasons for me to start all over again but most importantly if the case was the reverse I would have been so mad at Lucian but now that it wasn't it made him a fair game.
"I'm just worried because I know that you have always spoken about how you will never trust a man but now you have trusted him implicitly. Should I be worried about anything?"
"No, not really. I honestly think that he is a good man and that's why I'm giving him the chance and the opportunity to start all over again. He has lost a lot of things in the past darling, we found each other and decided to make each other's lives beautiful. I don't think there's any love greater than that." She fondly spoke of him.
It was an understatement to see that I was disappointed in my mother because she had made me see things in a different angle but now I finally realized the kind of person that she was and I was not a she couldn't change that perspective anymore.
She had already ruined her chances before it even began and I was ready to make it a point of duty.
She still looks in the eye trying to figure out if I was mad at her about something but I pretended not to be.
"Is something wrong darling? You seem a little bit interested in him now after everything. I told you he was a good man." She laughed, adjusting her seat belt as the driver moved instantly.
Of course she was going to make it same that everything was all about her and that she had been the one who convinced me otherwise about a man that I already knew how he was.
"Does it also help that he's very good in the sack?"
My eyes widened in shock yet I refused to say a word. "Mom?"
"Sorry I've been drinking a lot lately because I'm trying to push away my sorrows that have been plugging me so far and honestly speaking I'm just a little bit excited. I know that I shouldn't be doing this but it makes me alive." She winked.
Of course my mother was going to have excuses different from the fact that she was the one who had brought all of this upon herself.
Did she really seem like a fool who would not be able to understand that she was doing something weird behind his back?
If I had not overheard that conversation I would never have thought about it and now that I did it was time for me to finally take the bull by the horn and crash this relationship.
"I'm just trying to be friendly with you because you don't ever talk to me. I know that the divorce between your father I really robbed off wrongly on you but I don't want that to impact the way you see things. Relationships are wonderful." She placed a reassuring palm on my knees.
Of course I knew she was going to come up with something like this trying to make ourselves look like the good people around here but all of that charade had ended with me ever since she made the mistake.
I wasn't going to expose her husband but I knew that I think we found out especially if he was not cheating it was going to break a lot of dynamics between the both of us.
A few minutes later we were already on our way into the boutique knowing my mother was going to shop until she dropped and I was very thorough about my statement.
She had access to a lot of money now, and she wore the latest designs without even caring about the purse that money was coming from .
This went on to show how selfish my mother could be, especially for things to go well for her.
"Why don't you have something to wear? I'm sure that he would not mind spending my money again."
It wasn't her money in any way shape or form but since she was married to him I guess I didn't have a choice but to let her have half of his earnings.
From the look of things I knew that Lucian was a generous man and didn't really care for much of these things besides the rules.
What I wouldn't give to see him bend a little bit and adjust to what I will be able to deal with.
"Maybe I'm just a little bit paranoid but do you know that ever since I have come into this place I have never met Lucian and his friends except for that night. It almost seems like he was trying to give me a welcome party and I don't understand why."
My mother had to be drunk for real to tell me this piece of information without me even asking for it.
I had many things on my mind but most importantly I was really going to take the risk of believing anything that she said just so that I could gain more access into my mind and understand what she was even thinking about in the first place.
Nobody was going to tell me that she didn't consider this as a very important venture for herself or else she would have called it quits.
"If he is being generous I think that the only thing that you can do for him in return is to give him the respect that he deserves." I said in such a backhanded way that she would never understand that I was pointing fingers at her.
It was easy for her to go about and make such a decision without thinking about the consequences and how long it was going to take for that man to forgive her.
"Speaking of husbands. How is your dad doing?" My mother's face contorted into a derisive smile.
"I don't know how my dad is faring, but I'm sure that he would not want to see you happy." I shrugged nonchalant
Of course she was going to find everything wrong with it that I was not giving her the information that she wanted but at this point I would rather allow a nice to be placed on my neck than to do that.
"Your father was one of the most annoying people that I ever met in my entire life and every time I keep wondering what I ever saw in him. He is not even good-looking! I'm so glad you didn't take after his features."
My mother exclaimed in horror like she couldn't even imagine it.
Sometime ago I would have found it funny but right now I just kept seeing the face of betrayal and I was not going to leave that because I was going to lose my mind with anger and she would keep walking without any problem.
"If you have any issues why don't you talk to Lucian? I said this because I will be traveling in a few days. I only returned to check in on my business."
