Chapter 14 Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Chapter 14
SERAPHINA

I kept myself holed up inside my room because I still have not been able to get over the fact that my mother was playing fast and was such a wonderful person.

Well I didn't think that i was in the right position to keep passing judgments but at the same time I was willing to take the risk of doing that.

The amount of time and energy given to something like this was enough for me to start all over again.

But at the same time I still wanted to see how far I could come with all the people that had betrayed me right left and center

Put another perspective in my mind.

What if I went on with the relationship with someone else and they were only just using me as some venture.

My mother had never been someone so interested in getting things from people and how she suddenly changed or something that I would never understand.

It took a lot of understanding from me to be able to finally get to know why and what was involved.

I didn't have anything to say, instead I started thinking about how far and how well it was going to make me look by the time I finally decided to take the step off building my future on my own without involving anybody.

There was another knock on the door and this time around I didn't want to open up to anybody or else I was going to lose my mind.

I was actually feeling sleepy now and I was not in the mood for any form of companionship no matter who it was coming from, especially my mother.

Truth be told, as soon as I opened the door no matter engulfed me in such a deep embrace that if you had not been careful enough you would have thought that everything was fine between the both of us.

"Darling I'm so sorry that I couldn't check up on you last night. I was honestly busy."

She looked every inch of a fraud starting me because there was nothing she would ever say that I was going to believe anymore but she didn't need to know that.

It was my duty to make sure that she thought that I was going to remain a fool all along and never come in on the fact that she was doing something weird.

I just wanted to be on my own and I didn't want her to see the wrong side of me because then she would not be able to handle my anger and I hated it.

I wanted to be on my own. I have nothing to do with anybody after that I could now be able to relax and not even worry about anybody.

"I think you're just overreacting. I'm not a child, I need to be babysitted. And I'm certainly not one of those people who would indulge in other practices and try to push it to look like they are the best thing in the entire world." I hissed.

My mother looked at me like I was speaking nonsense and I didn't even want to go into depth of this conversation, because it was making me even more angry and making me start thinking about what I could do to make my mother regret her actions!

Taking sides has never been my thing but it was the same thing for me because I didn't think that anybody deserved to be made into a fool.

Lucians' only crime was that he loved my mother and had been trying to do right by her.

I saw the conflict on that man's face and how he tried to push me away. That's why he wanted to be with me and that earned him his respect.

The next thing that I also wanted to do was to make sure that if there was going to be any mistake, needed to correct it before it went on too long for me to be able to do that anymore

I took a deep breath and kept watching my mother hoping that she would not figure out that I was angry at her but she kept looking at me like she didn't even understand the first thing about my statement.

"Why don't you come on in and tell me everything about what happened at the party last night?"

She shot me an apologetic look and I already knew what was coming.

She would apologize to me and there was nothing wrong in it. Honestly speaking I just wanted her to let me be.

Since she had already decided on what she wanted to do with that man it was my duty to pretend like I didn't even know anything, and just keep watching her and laughing.

"Dawning I know that it is not the best time for me to tell you that I have a lot of business engagements here and there that require my presence and..." She sighed. "I think this is going to give you the best opportunity to bond with Lucian. He tells me that he doesn't want to be speaking to you because he doesn't think you're a child."

His rejection stunned me even if it was probably just my mother trying to do everything to shove him in my face and so that we will be so distracted without knowing her whereabouts.

"Mom, do you have the slightest idea of what this means? It simply means that there is a lot more than you are not telling me because you have become even the best version of yourself and I'm so proud of you Mom."

She looked me in the eye not expecting that I was going to speak to her like that.

If I wanted to get more information from my mother I needed to make her feel at ease with me and not jumpy

"You should take me along with you one of these days when you are attending your high profile meetings. Maybe that's the best way for me to socialize." I set the ball rolling.

A look of contemplation passed over her face but she ended up shrugging.
