Chapter 40 Catching Adultery

Chapter 40 Catching Adultery

When Francis came home, Jennifer pretended to be asleep. She felt him gently lift the covers and slip in beside her, not daring to move. She actually wanted to ask him who that woman was, but she knew she had no right to. Later, Jennifer didn't know when she fell asleep.

The next day, Jennifer was feeling a bit down, but Francis was busy with work and didn't notice. She had no work that day and was bored at home when Mia called, so she changed her clothes and went out.

When Mia picked up Jennifer at the intersection, her face was full of anxiety. Jennifer asked in surprise what was wrong. Mia hit the steering wheel hard, accidentally triggering the horn which let out a sharp sound.

As soon as Jennifer sat down, Mia stepped on the gas and the car shot forward. Only then did she speak, "I suspect Aaron is seeing another woman behind my back."

Jennifer gripped her seatbelt, saying with some concern. "Could it be a misunderstanding?" She remembered that Aaron had pursued Mia for two years, and after they got together their relationship had always been good - he proposed after just three months.

After marriage, Aaron always listened to Mia, fulfilling whatever she wanted. Aaron didn't have any female friends, but Mia loved drinking and going to bars, had quite a few male friends, which often made Aaron jealous.

Mia said through gritted teeth. "I hope it's a misunderstanding too. But when he left today, he told me he was going to the office, and then a friend of mine said she saw him at Celestial Garden Hotel with his arm around a woman going into a suite!"

It was a five-star hotel with both entertainment and accommodation. If Aaron wasn't hiding something from her, why would he lie? Even if he was doing business at the hotel, there was no need to have another woman by his side.

Now Jennifer really didn't know how to explain it, and she started to have doubts too. Are all men like this? At least Francis was single, so playing around with a few women was one thing, but how could Aaron still cheat after getting married? She could only advise Mia not to be too angry and to talk it out with Aaron face to face.

Mia shouted, "I'm going to find him right now, catch them in the act. If I catch him in bed with another woman, neither of them is getting out of there in one piece today!"

At Celestial Garden Hotel, as soon as Mia got upstairs she saw a cleaner working. She aggressively snatched the master keycard from the cleaner's hand. After a moment, the cleaner caught up. "Ma'am, that's a staff card, you can't take it!"

Mia added, "I'm a VIP at your hotel, and I'm here to catch a cheater. Are you sure you want to get in my way?"

The cleaner pulled back her hand reaching for the card, saying weakly. "Ma'am, this isn't allowed. Please don't put me in a difficult position." She didn't dare offend a VIP customer, but she couldn't let her use the staff card either - she was really stuck.

Mia didn't care about any rules and headed straight for that room. The cleaner had no choice but to call security, quickly explaining the situation and telling them to send people over fast because something might happen. Then she hurried after them, with Jennifer giving her an apologetic smile.

Mia swiped the door open and kicked it wide, shouting loudly. "Aaron, get out here!" Jennifer followed behind her. She really envied how bold and direct Mia could be.

Aaron rushed out from the room, looking like he'd just woken up, bowing slightly and asking. "Mia, how did you get here? Who made you angry?"

Mia grabbed his ear and asked. "Who else but you? Where's that woman?" She pulled him inside, but saw a card table in the middle of the room with people playing poker.

Lyle Warner, Aaron's good friend, was sitting in the main seat with a mischievous smile. "Mia's here! Aaron, did you specially call Mia here to show off your relationship to us? That ear's all red from pinching - that's true love." The woman sitting next to him laughed.

Seeing so many people, Mia immediately let go. She frowned at Aaron. "Someone saw you with your arm around a woman coming in here. Who was that woman?" She had photos from her friend on her phone, but she didn't take them out - she just wanted to see if Aaron would lie.

Aaron glared at Lyle, who immediately stood up, pulling up a woman in a white uniform from the card table. "Was it my new secretary Elara West? It's all my fault - I dragged Aaron here to drink with me. He got drunk, so I had Elara help him, and Mia misunderstood."

Aaron also quickly apologized. "Mia, it's all my fault. I should have told you I was going drinking."

Mia glanced at that Elara - she looked pretty proper with black-framed glasses, wearing the same clothes as the woman in the photo, with a similar figure. She believed this explanation. She straightened Aaron's collar, saying a bit awkwardly. "Since it's a misunderstanding, I won't disturb you all."

Several security guards and the cleaner were gathered at the door. Mia threw the keycard to them and pulled Jennifer away. Once they got in the car, Mia covered her face and said. "So embarrassing! It was just a misunderstanding, and all those people in the room saw it."

Jennifer smiled and said, "It's okay, as long as he didn't betray you. Everyone will forget about this small thing soon." So Aaron was still faithful - she was genuinely happy for Mia.

Mia nodded hard. "You're right. But you have to come drink with me to calm my nerves."

Jennifer didn't really like drinking - she thought alcohol was either sour or bitter - but she didn't refuse. The two came to a bar where Mia was a regular. She quickly ordered fruit platters, snacks, and several cocktails. Then she pointed to a special mix. "This one has low alcohol content and strong fruit flavor, perfect for you."

But Jennifer shook her head, "I want to try this one." She ordered a Long Island Iced Tea made with vodka and tequila as the base.

Several colorful cocktails were brought out. Mia sipped slowly, but saw Jennifer drink half a glass in one gulp. She put down her glass in surprise and asked. "Jennifer, you seem unhappy today. Did something happen at home again?"

Jennifer shook her head and took another gulp, finishing that drink. After finishing, she licked her lips, saying with hesitant eyes. "A bit sour, nothing special really." Then she randomly picked up another glass and took a big gulp, "A bit bitter, but also kind of sweet."

Mia grabbed her hand, laughing. "The drinks I ordered are meant to be sipped slowly. Downing them like this is such a waste."

"But they don't taste good." Jennifer was already slurring a bit. The alcohol rushed to her brain quickly, and her cheeks showed the red flush of drunkenness.

Mia shook her head. "If you can't drink, don't drink so fast. I think you're drunk."

"I am not!" Jennifer's voice suddenly got louder. "I wish I was drunk. I want to be brave like you, Mia. I want to ask him why he didn't come home for dinner, why another woman answered his phone?"

Mia's curiosity was immediately sparked! She grabbed Jennifer's hand and asked. "Aren't you single now? Who is he? Are you living together?"
