Chapter 39 Charming Woman

Chapter 39 Charming Woman

That night, Francis kissed every inch of Jennifer's body until she trembled and begged for mercy, but he didn't even take off his clothes.

When Jennifer woke up the next day, Francis was already gone. Looking in the mirror, she found many dark hickeys on her body - he had deliberately sucked hard to leave them. She obviously couldn't go out looking like this, so she had to find a high-necked long-sleeved dress to cover herself completely. It would be a bit hot, but she had no choice.

Jennifer went to Betty's house, and Declan answered the door. He flashed a bright smile. "My uncle had to work overtime, so I'm here taking care of this kid Betty."

Betty's head popped out from behind him, making a face and saying, "Who's a kid? You're only four years older than me."

Declan seriously flicked her forehead. "I'm an adult, you're a minor. Jennifer, you need to control your student."

Betty naturally wouldn't accept that, dodging while reaching out to tickle him. Declan and she started chasing and playing around in the living room.

Jennifer watched them, saying with some envy. "You cousins have such a good relationship." She didn't have a brother, and she had a cousin who lived far away and they rarely kept in touch. If she had a brother like Declan who she was close to, at least she could talk to him when facing difficulties, instead of struggling alone.

"Alright, time's up, Betty, let's go to your room for class." Jennifer's phone alarm went off, and she waved Betty over.

Each lesson lasted two hours. During Betty's practice time, Jennifer came out to use the bathroom. She stretched and rubbed her somewhat sore neck, but ran right into Declan who was about to knock on the door.

Declan stared for a moment at her relaxed appearance. Jennifer asked somewhat awkwardly, "Do you need something?"

Declan swallowed and said somewhat stuttering, "Louie said there's been a breakthrough in your family's company situation. I wanted to tell you this good news early."

Jennifer's eyes lit up, and she gently closed the door, asking somewhat excitedly, "Really?"

Declan asked her to sit on the sofa first, then explained the case progress in detail. It turned out that the anonymous employee who reported them had turned himself in. He admitted that he had deliberately tampered with the accounts because he held a grudge after being criticized by his supervisor.

Since someone took responsibility, the tax department wouldn't keep going after the company - they just needed to pay the missing taxes. As for the employee who turned himself in, because of his good attitude, he would probably get three to five years.

Declan said somewhat happily, "Louie said your family's assets will probably be unfrozen in about a week, and then you won't have to work so hard anymore." He still remembered sending Jennifer home once - where she lived now was too rough, it hurt him to see it.

Getting this definite news, Jennifer was so happy she covered her chest. Although Francis had mentioned it to her, he hadn't been very clear, and she hadn't expected to get the house back so quickly. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted from her heart. At least she wouldn't have to worry about David's treatment costs anymore. Although she could spend Francis's money, she didn't want to owe him too much.

In her happiness, Jennifer didn't notice that her collar had rolled up a bit, exposing a hickey on her neck. But Declan, who had been watching her carefully, noticed it. The hickey on her delicate neck was really obvious. His finger reached over. "Jennifer, there's something red on your neck, what is that? Did a bug bite you?"

Jennifer quickly covered her neck, pulling up her collar somewhat panicked and saying, "Maybe it's an allergic reaction."

She quickly got up and ran to the bathroom to fix her clothes, making sure to cover the kiss marks on her neck.

Declan didn't suspect anything, thinking she really had an allergic reaction and that's why she was dressed so covered up today. When she came out, he asked with concern, "What are you allergic to? Is it serious, do you need medicine?"

Jennifer blushed a bit. She couldn't very well say she was allergic to Francis's kisses. She took two steps back and made a stop gesture, saying somewhat seriously, "Declan, I really appreciate your concern for me. But I hope from now on you can keep your distance from me. We're just friends."

Declan looked somewhat disappointed, his eyes drooping as he looked at her, like a pitiful big dog.

Jennifer thought of the tone in Francis's voice when he mentioned "Declan" last night, and steeled herself to turn and go into the room.

After the tutoring session ended, Declan offered to take Jennifer home. She politely refused, insisting on taking a taxi home herself. First, she didn't want him to know she was living with Francis, and second, she was determined to keep her distance from him to avoid making Francis angry.

Before going home, Jennifer first went to a secondhand shop, wanting to buy back that gemstone bracelet. She had sold Skylar's keepsake before because she urgently needed money for David's surgery.

Now that she had money, she naturally wanted to get the bracelet back as soon as possible. But the owner said the bracelet had already been sold. Jennifer pleaded softly, "Can you help me contact that buyer? I'm willing to pay more to buy the bracelet back. I can also pay you a ten percent commission, please."

But the owner shook his head regretfully. "I'd love to make that money from you. Unfortunately, that buyer was a foreign tourist. She used a temporary account that's now been closed. I can't contact her either."

Jennifer could only leave disappointed.

When she got home, Jennifer made a big dinner and waited for Francis. To thank him for his help with David's company, she had to show her appreciation properly. But the food got cold and he still hadn't come home, and he hadn't replied to her messages either.

Although they didn't have the kind of relationship where they needed to report their schedules to each other, Jennifer was still a bit worried. At nine in the evening, she finally couldn't help calling him.

But a woman answered the phone. She said in a sweet voice, "Francis went to the bathroom. What do you need him for?"

Jennifer's throat suddenly felt tight. She said hoarsely, "Nothing, sorry to bother you," and immediately hung up.

At this time, he was with such a sweet-voiced woman - it wasn't hard to imagine they were on a romantic date. She shouldn't have made that call. She knew she was just one of Francis's many women, and she never thought about having him all to herself. But why did her heart still feel sour and sad?

She had been waiting for him and hadn't eaten dinner. But now looking at the table full of food, she had no appetite.

She silently dumped plate after plate of food into a garbage bag, lost in thought.

Could it be that he was losing interest in her before he even had her? This deal was a loss for him. He had helped her solve so many problems, and she hadn't even fulfilled her duties as a mistress. She was clearly the one who got the better deal, so why were tears falling?
