Chapter Twelve

Gradually, Jewel opened her eyes. She immediately felt unavoidable headaches and depression.

Where is she?

She could not help but confirm that she might have gone really crazy.

When someone opened the door, she did not hesitate to close her eyes. Honestly, she was scared. Maybe this is one of her hallucinations again. Where did it take her again?

She felt the place well. She heard the door open and the footsteps of the two who entered.

"And how will that happen to my daughter?"

She could not restrain his fist from clenching. She knows the owner of the voice—the cause of her mommy's disappearance.

"Well, actually, Sir. . . the doctors can't be exactly what is probably the cause of Catatonic depression. But one of its symptoms is due to the depletion of dopamine. This maybe changes the brain structure or functioning, which may make the brain less responsive to hormones. Or is there a family history of depression in you?"

Silence remained between the two speakers. Jewel's clasped hands remained on what she heard and knew.

"It could be some life changes such as the death of a loved one or divorce," the doctor continued, staring intently at the woman lying in bed.

She has been like this for a month. All she has to do is open and close her eyes. Every time she opens her eyes, she will not be able to talk. She will always look far and stupid.

Every time a few friends also talk, she just moves her eyelashes. She does not feel around, not sure what is going on.

"Well, her mother died three months ago. She didn't even go for her forty days, and I didn't see her at her grave to visit."

It was only then that Jewel wanted to rush to her father, but in great grief because of the memory, she could not move.

Even if she wanted to speak and scold the man, she could not.

"That may be taking a toll on her, Mr. Salazar. She has not let go of her Mom yet, so she prefers to stay with her thoughts. It's actually possible. She chose to stay in a daze, she may have no other thoughts but happy memories of her mommy," the doctor added.

In fact, concern for the woman also eats away at him. How many times has he seen his little son crying and looking for her over and over again?

"She'll overcome, right?" Jewel's daddy asked worriedly.

Hee knows he did not do much good for his daughter but seeing her like that scared him. What if she doesn't wake up? What if she disappears completely from him?

From the very beginning, he didn't want anything else but for Jewel to have a good life. When they gave birth to Jewel, then he promised herself that he would take care of the child.

He did.

So it just seems to be overdone. He admits that. He may have been angry with his mother, but his love for the child was not hindered by that.

It may be out of the picture because everyone is focused on his mistreatment of his wife, but that is not lost.

In fact, he's a changed man now. He also deeply regretted the pain he had inflicted on his wife over the years that led to her suicide.

He regrets what he did, but maybe he will never receive it again.

Jewel hates him. He knew that one of the reasons for the son not to go to his mother's funeral was not only because of his sadness and rejection but also because he hated her.

But it still does not stop asking Jewel to forgive him. He knows the child, perhaps she is very passionate, smart, and sure knows right and wrong.

The doctor in front of him smiled softly at him. "She will. We will not stop a few medicines and therapy, but all we need now is to wake her up - we will pull her out of her own reverie. "

The two men in that room were silent again, all looking at Jewel, who was sleeping now.

Contrary to the knowledge of the two, Jewel hears what they are talking about. She already knew everything. She already had an explanation for what was happening.

This is the real world. She is not really a twenty-two-year-old woman. It is not true that she was with her mother again. Rod doesn't really have a new family.

Jihan. . . She whispered softly to herself, causing her to open his eyes completely.

She misses her child so much that she laughs even when she cries.

Rod. . .

Where is his husband? He was unconscious for a month around, so her desire to see her husband only intensified.

Where are they? Why are they not here in the room?

"J-Jewel?"

At the thought, she lost her mind that her father was still there. She has no choice but to see the man who just talked.

The doctor checked him for a moment. Even he was surprised by the sudden awakening and speech of the girl, especially since they were also expecting a few more weeks.

When the doctor finished checking her, he immediately came out first, so the father and daughter were able to stay in the room.

"Jewel–"

"I don't want to see you," she said coldly. Her face was expressionless, and she just looked straight at the father's eyes in front of him.

"Jewel, sweetie, I'm sorry–"

"Leave me alone."

That's scary. Jelo could not believe what his son was doing. It seems like this is not Jewel. It seems like a lot has changed in her daughter during their few years of not meeting each other.

"Jewel, listen to Da–"

"I said, leave me alone!!"

Jelo's voice was slightly lowered by Jewel's voice. Only now did he see the child like this. Far far away from her very sweet child back then.

The door of the room opened again, and the few nurses who were guarding Jewel with her friend Faye who was carrying Jihan, were thrown out.

"Mom!"

The formerly frightening Jewel had changed because of the pleasure of seeing her child. She did not stop hugging him.

She really misses her child. She misses the times when they are just at home and waiting for her husband to arrive.

Rod. . .

Why is he not in the hospital?

"Rod?"

Even before they finally ate what Jewel was thinking and Jewel asked Faye who was in front of her.

She became immediately quiet and slightly turned to Jelo, who was still in the room, silent.

Faye knows nothing. She does not know how to answer a friend, especially since she only knows one thing.

"Faye. I said, where's Rod?" That was the last time she heard her friend's calm voice when she started screaming.
