Chapter Ten

“Is there a problem, Je?” I looked up at mommy, who was already beside me. Instead of answering, I just hugged her tightly even though I had stopped crying earlier.

Today my eyebags are definitely getting bigger. I was not able to sleep last night thinking. Add to my relentless crying in addition to the swelling of my eyes.

Why is that? I cried it all, but the pain is still not going away?

“I’m fine, Ma. I just watched Netflix last night, so I didn’t sleep well. Eat. I’ll be following you. “I said, then smiled at her and hugged her again.” I love you so much, Mommy. “

When she came out, I forced myself to move. Instead of mumbling here all day, I better just go into the office.

I closed my mind. I was like a dead, just forcing myself to walk. The truth is, I don’t know when I will start thinking or what I will think about first.

I had a quiet breakfast with daddy and mommy. Then, I prefer to be ahead of them. I said I still have a way to go and buy, even though I really have no plans.

Even though they were hesitant and worried about my actions, they did nothing, including mommy. I continued alone, forcing myself to drive even though I knew where I was headed.

I’m sick of it!

Why is all this happening to me?

I stepped hard on the car brake when I saw the boy in the middle of the road. He was crying, and no one was with him.

“Jihan. . .”

At the thought, I hurried out of the car. I ran to him and then hugged him. But unlike my son, who stops every time he feels my hugs, the boy is not able to stop causing me to let go of him.

“You are not Jihan,” I said softly, even though I was out of breath due to the pain I was feeling.

My mind was confused when I picked up the crying boy. We looked for a police officer or a guard at a nearby mall.

When the guard arrived and made us sit on small chairs and wait, only then did I have time to finally talk to the boy.

“‘Don’t cry anymore, okay? We’re safe here. They’re looking for your mom. But it’s better if you tell us your name, okay?” I was so happy when he stopped crying and fell silent. My question was not answered.

“W-What’s your name?” I repeat.

“Rodney. . .” he said in a low voice. I understand that easily so maybe he is four years old or up.

“Hi, Rodney! Do you know what your mom’s name is? “

“Mom!”

“Rodney!”

I immediately turned to the approaching lady. She was wearing a shirt and pants and had her hair tied up. Her porcelain face also almost glowed, as if puberty did not even go through so smoothly. There were also beads of tears on his cheeks.

“Mom!”

Rodney immediately went to his mother and hugged her. In that scene, I felt even sadder for my son.

I really miss Jihan too. I really miss my son.

“No, Ma’am. Thank you very much. Thank you for helping my son. Maybe if it is someone else, they may not bring him back. Thank you, Ma’am.”

I just smiled and nodded. I didn’t mention that I almost ran over him earlier.

The place was filled with gratitude before we walked to the mall.

“Ma’am? I don’t want to be nosy. . . but are you Ms. Jewel of JL Automotives?”

I stopped slightly and looked at the woman again as well as her son Rodney. Rodney. . .

“That’s me,” I said and was followed by a soft laugh. I just want to hide the nervousness I feel because of the thought.

Is it possible, isn’t it?

“We are going to your company, Ma’am. I heard that you want to talk with us?”

It was as if the people around had suddenly stopped, and everything seemed to accompany my sudden stop. How many times have I said I couldn’t believe it?

I did not expect to see her and her mother here. I did not expect that he really had a mother and father.

Even though my knees are weak, I walk straight. One more thing, isn’t this my idea? I was the one who asked Rod to see them.

“Oh! I haven’t introduced myself yet,” she said, then laughed very modestly. Something that only added to my insecurity. She is so beautiful. . . and she deserves to be Rod’s wife.

“I’m Courtney. This is our son, Rodney.” She took Rodney’s hand and waved it at me. “Rodney, say hello. She’s Ma’am Jewel.”

When he heard my name, the boy’s face immediately lit up. “Is that true? Will you set us to come to the zoo?”

Courtney was obviously surprised there, so she immediately pulled the child closer to her and scolded him.

I bowed a little and tried to align Rodney’s face with mine with a big smile. “Yup. I’ll set you free at the zoo,” I said.

I noticed that his mother immediately felt ashamed.

“Yes! You will join us, won’t you?” I was taken aback by his question. That is not in the plan. All I told Rod was that I would cover all the expenses. . . I was not in the conversation.

“Rodney, Ma’am Jewel might be busy–”

“Mom, I want her with me. I want her to join us. She is kind,” Rodney explained.

Honestly, I automatically smile every time I see this boy. But just disappears and is replaced by numb pain when I think about whose child he is.

I immediately straightened up and faced Courtney again. “Come with me. I’ll drive you there,” I said with a forced smile.

They are kind people. I don’t want to stain it and make a fuss. Although embarrassed, I forced them to get in the car. I thought it would be easier because of that. If they get a cab and commute, it will definitely be even harder.

The woman did not speak again. Well, her aura tells me that she is not really talkative.

I couldn’t help but compare myself to the woman, from head to toe. She’s an angel. Very modest and a perfect fit for Rod. I’ve never felt this small. It hurts.

I gripped the steering wheel tightly when I parked the car. Even failing, I had no choice but to move on. We were still together when we went to the maintenance office. Every step I feel. . . I just wanted to kill myself. Every step seems to be just inviting pain into my system.

“Papa!” Rod greeted the child with a big smile. He immediately hugged him when he got close to him and kissed him.

“Dad, let Ma’am Jewel join us.”

The couple stared at me at the same time. I have no choice but to turn them around too. Keep an eye on how fun it is to see family suddenly.

“Come on. . . it’s just for family,” I told him faithfully.

It’s all right, please?” Rodney pleaded while his father was still carrying him. Courtney did nothing but wait for me to answer while there was a smile on her face.

The pain is unbearable. I do not know how long I will be able to take all this.

“A-All right ... I-I’ll follow,” I answered, then bid goodbye. I gently waved to that family as if everything was natural to me—as if it did not hurt.
