Chapter Thirty-Four
Cirdan:
“She was provoked, what do you expect her to do?” I snapped at my father who was telling me that his phone was blowing up about his son’s mate. We were currently in Iris room and by we, I mean me, Iris, Finn, and the twins. They were back in their wolf forms, pressing to Iris sides and this time, her fingers were deeply rooted in their furs, accepting the comfort they were offering her. But even with that acceptance, I could still feel her turmoil.
“I am sorry, sire. I know I am not supposed to talk to you that way,” I added a little calmer into the phone when my father’s silence greeted me.
“I understand that you might be feeling your mate’s emotions currently but don’t let it change you.” My father said and I could feel the wave of disapproval from him. I winced at my actions and his reactions, he is someone who I did not want to let down and I just did that with my words.
“Not just hers, father.” I sighed. “What am I going to do?”
“There is nothing for you to do.” He answered. “In fact, I believe the best course of action is not to do anything at all. You could have just let the princess do what she wanted to do.”
“She would have killed Viana.” I informed my father.
“And that would not be such a great loss now, would it?” He returned. I don’t even know why I bother, there were few people in my father’s list of them being unworthy of living and Viana family falls into that category but because they have one of the strongest bloodlines in Folks, they sadly don’t just live but live lavishly too.
“What about the king?” I asked offhandedly, acting as if I was not interested in knowing the reply.
“Hmmm.” He responded completely seeing through my question. “He is aware, but he has been busy. Fielding complaints from other races leaders, I believe that her mother is doing the same thing too.”
“When will they reach put to Iris, she has been feeling down at her actions since.” I asked and just as I had suspected, Iris responded.
“I have not!”
“Yes you have.” Three other voices chimed in. I looked back to the bed to see the twins back in their human form.
“So, you want them to reprimand her?” My father’s voice drew my attention back to the call.
“Of course not.”
“Then you should not wish for her parents to come to the school because, last I heard, other races are agitating for the council to intervene in the issue.”
“Issue? They are calling my mating an issue.” I asked surprised.
“Well, it is, and you know it.” My father sighed. “I have to go now, some of the nobles are starting to arrive.”
“Goodbye, father.” After hanging up, I moved to the bed where I wrapped my arms around Iris.
“How big of a trouble are we in?” She glanced at my face, but I used my chin to tuck her head under mine again.
“What makes you think that we are in trouble?” I returned and she shook her head.
Before she could reply, a knock sounded and Finn stood up to open the door, he exchanged some words with the person before he opened the door wider so the person can enter the room.
“What is the principal doing here?” I asked surprised to see the person is Principal Freddy.
“There are a couple of updates on the issue which I want you two to be aware of.” He replied after clearing his throat.
“I didn’t wound Viana too seriously right?” Iris sat up, this time I allowed her to sit on her own.
“No, you didn’t. Besides, she gave as good as she got.” The principal stated and Iris nodded, relief was present in her gaze.
“An investigation was carried to know how and why Viana knew about the incident and the result came out not so long ago. She already suspected that Cirdan was your mate, so she wanted to prove it and at the same time punish you for the punishment which she and her parents passed through last term. She was quite content with her handiwork.” The principal addressed Iris who nodded and then he continued. “The result of this investigation is that she would no longer be school at ATI as she has withdrawn from this school.”
“Why?” Iris asked the same time I said. “Finally!” We both looked at each other in surprise.
“Apparently, the only reason why Viana came here was because of your mate, she wanted to be his mate and so finding out he is mated, she has no desire to remain her, and we also have no desire to retain a student who has been nothing but malicious towards other students. With that being said, I also came to tell you to be careful of her friend as they are bitter about her decision to leave and so blame you.”
“If they try and do anything concerning Iris, they would have us to face.” Vane replied before Iris could and Vine nodded his acceptance of his brother’s words.
“And that is all, I also wanted to ask if you would let the school nurse take a look at your being since Viana hit you with a very powerful psychic punch.”
“I am okay…” Iris started and when I turned to look at her, she changed her words. “On the other hand, just to be safe, Cirdan would take me to the nurse later.”
The principal nodded and left the room and I turned to face Finn.
“Good job, I know that I am not allowed to sit in and watch you teach her but what I saw today, her form of fighting has increased a lot. You are doing a very good job.”
“Did Cirdan just [praise me?” Finn asked in a faux high pitch that made Vane to laugh.
I rolled my eyes at Finn’s acting. “Meanwhile she also needs some defensive training too.”
Finn nodded.
“I will add that to the schedule.” I nodded my approval of his words before I turned to Iris. “Ready to go to the nurse?”
She smiled as she stood from the bed then turned to look at me. In that minute I realized that today was another scare with Iris, Life with her will always be full of scares and I don’t want her to ever doubt that I will have her back.
There was only one way I could reassure her that I will never leave her.
I would need to stop at my room to get another family heirloom to present to Iris. This time, instead of a pendant it is a promise ring.
