Chapter Thirty-Three
Iris:
It’s been a month, two weeks, and a day since ‘the incident’. My Clique hardly speak of it even though it weighs us down. In fact, that is all we refer to it by, ‘The incident’. The time which none of us want to remember, at first it was hard for them. To ignore the dark circles under my eyes when I wake up, the fact that they wanted me to know that it was okay to not be okay, that it was okay to break down. Especially Vane and Vine, their shifter sense riding on them very hard because they were Alphas, and it was their job to give comfort to those who they deemed as a part of their pack. Something Cirdan explained to me when they shifted into their animals in the middle of the cafeteria just to press their bodies against mine.
Cirdan was another issue, he was unwilling to maintain the distance which we were supposed to keep before to prevent people from talking but now, their talks were what we were least concerned with. In my defense, I wanted to be clingy to my mate because with him touching me, I felt like I was in control of a little part of me if not everything. Being in control and feeling protected was what I got from my clique, and I valued that feeling.
And about others suspecting the fact that Cirdan was my mate, that took a back seat to suspecting what happened to me because they were more interested in that ever since Vine and Vane changed to their wolves, something which I learnt was very rare for the twins to do since they were pretty much dominant in their human forms, and they answer challenges in human forms too.
So Cirdan being closed to me always was somehow explained since they all were close to me. And because they could not talk to me directly since the twins started acting like unpaid bodyguards, they resulted to spreading rumors and their own ideologies about what was happening to me. Rumors that Cirdan was always angry about but at least it was preferred to the truth since anytime it comes up, I freeze and revert back to the broken state I was while I watch guards kill normal citizens.
Somehow Viana found out what happened and although she did not approach my table, her voice was loud enough for me to hear.
“Really? She was sucking a man’s…” A gasp sounded from their table.
The sounds around reduced like everybody was listening to what was going on in that table.
“Never knew she was that big of a slut.”
“She probably wanted it too.”
The chimes came from the table, enough for me to raise my head in curiosity to understand what was being said. I raised my head to look at their direction only to see all of them staring at me.
“What is going on?” Vane asked, noticing how tensed I was.
“It could be why she surrounds herself with men, after all she is asking for more.” One of the girls said as others snickered.
Viana smirked then said in a considerable louder voice. “This is one of the disadvantages of raising a child out of faery, they come back to fall under wild fae thrall. It pains me to say our princess is nothing but a thrall slut.”
I froze, everything came crashing to me immediately. I was the one being referred to and them talking about it, it made the door of those memories I have been solidifying for days now to come crashing down. I was locked in the terrifying memories of it happening again.
Cirdan exploded from the table. “That is enough Viana.”
“Why, she will always be known as that. A Thrall bitch, was Cirdan and the rest three men not enough for you?”
“Shut your mouth.” I gritted my teeth while my fists trembled in front of me. “You don’t know what happened.”
“I know enough to know you are nothing but a slut whose was face down in a wild Fae pants when you were found!”
With her words said, I exploded from my chair in a bout of fury as I turned to her, my eyes felt like they were red with rage.
Before she could steel herself, I sent a bolt of energy her way. She tried her best to shield that and she succeed barely just for me to send another after the first one. No one was expecting that, but Finn has been teaching me well. Her back crashed with the glass as she fell through, landing of the grass on the other side but I glared at her.
“Do you know what real fear is? Maybe I should give you a taste of it so that you will not run your mouth the way you just did. You don’t know what happened, shut up and stop spreading half stories.”
“I know enough.” Viana gritted out, batting the blood away from her eyes, blood flowing from a small cut above her brow.
When she sent a psychic punch to my head, people started screaming, I was not even aware of what I was doing, all I knew was that, she needed to pay. I could not kill the wild fae that scarred me, but I could do something about Viana.
Cirdan touched my arm and dragged me down… my legs were no longer on the floor.
He wrapped his arms around me, cooing to me like I was a baby, a small part of me was angry that he was treating me that way but a larger part of me slowly released the energy I have already started gathering. Energy that was not hurting Cirdan and a lot of people took notice.
“That is it, Iris. Deep breathes,” he instructed, and I followed.
When I looked at Viana, it was to see fear and pain in her eyes. “Mates.” She whispered.
Cirdan did not say anything but kissed my hair and ushered me into the cafeteria back then when people saw the way we were, they created a path for us and Cirdan led us out of their eyes.
I could still feel their gaze on us though. Coming to the same conclusion which Viana did. That we were mates.
The Secret is out.
