Chapter 13: ""Did you say...breed?""

**Chapter 13**

“If you're done laughing at my expense…” Matt growled at Lauren. “I'll tell ya.”

Letting out one last giggle, Lauren made the effort to calm down. She couldn’t fully suppress her amused smile, so she gave up trying.

Clearing her throat, Lauren said, “Okay, I'm done now.” waving a hand in a gesture for him to start talking.

Matt threw himself in the chair set opposite of Lauren. “Where to start…?” He wondered aloud.

One hand gripping the back of his neck in frustration. He let out a sigh then said, “I had another vision.” his deep voice sounded tense.

Lauren looked at him shrewdly. “Are we finally calling them what they are now?” she asked, her tone dry.

Matt rolled his eyes. “Yes we are calling the visions,” Matt let out a sigh, “visions.” grumbling the last word.

Lauren let out an amused chuckle before she could suppress it. Her friend was so animated, he could probably describe the world ending in such a way. She would most likely end up rolling across the floor busting a spleen laughing.

“Alright, alright…now tell me what this one was about.” Lauren demanded.

“This one…” Matt paused, his words trailing off as his mind replayed the vision. “This one was the worst.” his voice hoarse with emotion.

“Worse than the one with Sarah and the knives?” Lauren asked him, her voice soft with concern now.

When Matt nodded in answer to her question, Lauren looked at her friend, really looking this time. Matt was freshly groomed, but somehow managed to look a little haggard. Like something was weighing heavy on his shoulders. This worried Lauren, had her thinking that the vision this time…had indeed been the worst one yet.

“Tell me about it.” Lauren demanded, all humor from just seconds ago gone. Her friend was in need of comfort, and laughing at him wouldn’t provide that.

Matt’s whole body tensed up, the helplessness he felt earlier during the vision roared through him again. “They were…they were going to…going to breed her tonight.” His words came out strangled.

Lauren’s stomach dropped, ‘What.the.fuck?’ went through her mind, each word separate. “Did you just say…” Lauren gulped, feeling nausea roll in her stomach, her mind felt slightly blown. “breed?”

Matt lifted his head up, his gaze locking on Lauren’s. Her expression was of horrified disbelief. Lauren was a female, so he could understand her unwillingness to contemplate what he said.

“Yes.” His deep voice was rough with emotion, but his tone told Lauren he was absolutely serious.

“Goddess.” Lauren said breathlessly, one hand covered her mouth, her eyes were wide, her expression dismayed. “Matt?”

“They didn’t succeed.” He told Lauren quickly “Rain killed her would-be rapist before he could.” He added when he saw the next question form in her wide eyes.

Matt could visibly see the relief she felt in her eyes as it rushed through her. Yeah, he’d felt that too in the vision, until Rain’s mother tried to kill her.

Matt was sure Lauren would be even more horrified, if he told her about the other females who were not able to escape being raped tonight. His disgust with the Black Magic Coven grew to new heights after this last vision.

“After she killed the Warlock,” Matt had to pause again, he felt like his emotions were trying to strangle him. “ She was hit…over and over again by this…spell.”

Was she alive after that, the vision ended after Rain had passed out. He didn’t think she had died from it, but it looked like the spell was ripping her to pieces from the inside out.

“Matt…” Lauren paused, Matt heard the hesitancy in her voice. “is she…is she alive?”

It had been hard for Lauren to ask the question, but there was a look on Matt’s face that made her ask.

Matt felt like he was on the verge of tears. Ares inside him had remained passive until Laurens question. *“They’re alive, I feel it.”* He said, his tone firm.

Wolves, when talking about others with more than one soul inside them, used words like, ‘them, they and they’re.’ The humanoid parts didn’t always, they tended to use singular terms of address. Humans tended to react adversely when they realized there was more than one being or personality inside you.

The relief Matt felt at that confirmation from his wolf made him feel weak. “I wasn’t sure till just now, but Ares said he can feel it.” Matt told her, a lump of emotion in his throat made his words come out strangled.

Lauren fell back into her chair letting out a gusty sigh with her own relief. She felt like she had just been on an emotional roller coaster.

*“No wonder he looks so haggard”* Lauren said to her wolf.

*“He’s not telling us the full extent of the vision”* Yukino told her humanoid, her tone somber.

*“If he’s not telling us about it…it must have been something truly atrocious.”* Lauren told Yukino, her tone dark.

*“Agreed.”* Yukino said assuredly.

“Want to go for a run or hit the training ring for some sparring?” Lauren asked Matt.

She felt what her friend needed now was space from his vision. He was going to have to work it out mentally. Lauren and Yukino had long suspected the reason for Matt’s visions of Rain. They could also tell Matt had already formed an attachment to Rain and her wolf Hope.

Matt stared at the floor in silence for a few moments, trying to regain control of his emotions. When he felt he had sufficient control, he stood up. Lauran stood up with him.

Matt scrubbed his hands vigorously over his face, it was as if he was trying to wipe away the conversation he and Lauren just had.

“Yeah, but let’s take a ride first.” Matt said, with an assessing gaze on Lauren.

Lauren crossed her arms over her waist. “That obvious, is it?” she asked dryly, with a wry grin lifting up one side of her mouth.

“Only because I’ve gotten to know you.” Matt told her.

Lauren nodded, then waved him forward. “After you ‘oh, all seeing one’.” her tone rife with sarcasm.

Matt let out a short laugh at her words. Leading the way out of his room, not bothering with a lock. No one would be stupid enough to steal from a Werewolf, or any other shifter for that matter. We could track you down by the scent you left behind, and you better hope all we did was beat you.

The lock on the door was more for if he wasn’t alone when he went to bed. Thinking about that, he was grateful he had never brought Sarah back to this place, whenever Sarah would coerce him into having sex with her. Matt shuddered at the memories, his stomach twisted with disgust.

Thank the Goddess Werewolves didn’t get things like sexually transmitted diseases. Sarah would have been riddled with them if they had, and so would he through her. Matt shook his head after another shudder.

Matt would rather burn the knowledge he had ever had intercourse with Sarah from his brain. Unfortunately he couldn’t do that, he would have to live with what was done to him. Just as Lauren had to live with the repercussions of what happened to her.

He looked down at Lauren as they made their way through the Mansion’s large hallways. The mansion was huge, with four wings and six stories. Nowhere near the size of the Heartsong Mansion, that thing was just monstrously huge.

The South Wing of the Moonstar Mansion was called the Alpha wing, the top floor was for the Alpha and their family. The East Wing, the one he and Lauren were in, was the Beta wing, the upper floor for the Beta and his or her family.

The West wing was the Gama Wing, the Pack’s Gamma, Richard Moonstar Blackfire and his family took the top floor in that wing. The North wing was called the Delta wing. The Personal enforcers of Alpha Andrew were on the top floor. The rest of the North wing housed unmated Pack enforcers of the Moonstar Clan.

In the Gamma’s wing you had the housing for all the unmated non fighters that worked in the mansion. Once mated, they would be moved to the family quarters in the Beta Wing, if they didn’t move out into their own home. The Cleaning facilities were in the basement level of the Gamma’s wing.

The second floor of Alpha wing held the offices of the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Lead Pack enforcer, or Delta. The Ballroom was on the bottom floor of the Beta wing. While the main dining hall was on the bottom floor of the Alpha wing.

Under the Beta and Alpha wing was a five floor underground Parking Garage. The third to fifth floor of the Alpha wing was for visiting dignitaries.

There was an Elevator at the end of the halls of the Beta wing, before the entrances to the Alpha Wing, that would take you from your floor, to whichever floor you parked in the Parking garage.

There were two more of these elevators, one at the end of the Alpha wing leading to the Gamma wing, and one at the other end of the Gamma wing leading to the Delta wing.

Not that many used the elevators besides the workers of the Mansion. Lauren and Matt ignored the Elevator, choosing to take the large wide staircase. It was big enough, four wolves could walk side by side down the stairs.

“Do you want to start talking now, or wait till we're on the road?” Matt asked Lauren.

She looked up at him, thought for a moment. “Let’s wait till we're on the road with the top down. I need the wind on my face.” She said, trying to ignore the feeling of her skin crawling.

Lauren would never forgive Sarah for what she had done to her. Not with the issues she was left with.
