Chapter 292 292

Chapter 292 292
Two seconds. That’s all Oscar needs to storm into the cell and start pounding the bastard with his fists. Zeldric curses under his breath and rushes in after him, with Pablo and Alex close behind. It takes all three of them to drag Oscar out of the cell and slam the door shut behind him.
"Control yourself, dammit!" Zeldric yells, pointing a finger at him.
Oscar keeps glaring at Jackson, breathing heavily, muscles tensed. Alex and Pablo are holding him back, but they wouldn’t be able to stop him if he wanted to get loose.
"You’re bleeding," Jenkins says.
It takes me a second to realize what she means. Several bloodstains are spreading on Oscar’s back. Jenkins steps closer to take a better look. My first instinct is to reach out and touch him, but I quickly drop my hand and clench my fists. If he hasn’t spoken to me or even looked at me since we got back, I’m not going to be the one to force him. I step back, and Angy raises an eyebrow at me.
"It’s nothing," Oscar mutters, shaking off Alex and Pablo’s grip.
They’re smart enough to let him go, but Jenkins insists.
"Come to the infirmary with me, I’ll take a look."
"I said it’s nothing, damn it!" he growls, turning to face her.
"Hey! Watch how you talk to my wife," Zeldric jumps in.
Oscar turns to him, tilting his head from one side to the other, his dark eyes locked on our leader’s.
"You better watch how you talk to me. Maybe I’ve been your lapdog until now, but that doesn’t mean I won’t bite if you push me too far."
Silence falls, broken only by the weak groans of the idiot Oscar just pummeled. I’ve never seen anything like this. Oscar has lashed out during his breakdowns before—he’s hit Zeldric and Lagos in the past—but when he acts like that, he’s not himself. But right now? His voice is steady, and calm. He’s just… Oscar. And that’s what makes it so disturbing. Maybe even dangerous.
"That’s enough," Jenkins steps in, placing herself between them to ease the tension. "Oscar, you’re bleeding a lot. If you won’t let me treat you, at least put something on it to stop the bleeding. If it’s deep, it could get infected."
Oscar glances sideways at her, exhales sharply, and nods before turning around and heading up the stairs. Zeldric mutters a curse under his breath.
"What the hell is wrong with him now?" he asks.
Angy is still watching me with that amused look. She steps closer and leans her shoulder against mine.
"You’re not going to talk to him?" she asks quietly, so only I can hear.
I frown and step away to face her.
"Why should I? Contrary to what everyone thinks, I’m not his damn babysitter. If he’s got issues, let him sort them out."
Angy narrows her eyes at me and sighs.
"For God’s sake, will you two stop being idiots already? It’s not that hard, you know? Even I, who picked the most insufferable and stubborn man alive, had the guts to admit how I felt."
I ignore her crap and turn to head up the stairs.
"Where are you going?!" Zeldric calls from below.
"My job’s done," I say without stopping. "I’m going to the club. I need a drink." I reach the top and huff. "Or maybe a few," I mutter.
