Chapter 286 286

Chapter 286 286
Luna
I always knew that sooner or later, all this shit would blow up in my face. I knew what happened with Beni was wrong. Still, what I expected was some kind of reprimand from Zeldric, a few dirty looks from Ness, and maybe even a punch from Jenkins—but I never imagined I’d feel so regretful and guilty just from seeing the way Oscar’s back tenses.
He slowly turns around and meets my gaze.
“Is it true? You and…?”
Shit. I can’t answer. I lower my head and nod slowly.
“Goddammit!”
His shout—half roar, half growl—bounces off the office walls.
“It’s Beni! You watched him grow up!”
I take a deep breath and dare to raise my eyes. The pain and disappointment in his look stabbed into my chest like a sharp dagger.
“It’s not what…” I click my tongue and shake my head. “I’m not proud of it.”
“Stop with that bullshit!” he shouts, clutching his head. “You can’t… No…” He shakes his head over and over, and a couple of tears slip down his cheeks. “Why are you doing this? Zeldric, Rai, Gambo, Beni, me… Did you fuck Lagos and Alex too? Is this some kind of challenge? To see how many members of the family you can screw?”
His words hurt more than the way he was looking at me. I cling to my mask with all my strength, trying to keep my composure. Back straight, chin up, I force the mask of indifference into place.
“Not yet. Lagos is kind of whipped, but Alex… maybe after one of his fights with Angy he’ll come looking for comfort. I decide who I sleep with, Oscar. Don’t forget that.”
He takes a threatening step toward me, his entire body trembling with rage. Every instinct in me screams to step back, but I don’t move an inch. We lock eyes for a few seconds. He’s not going to hurt me—I know that. I want to touch his face, to calm him, to hug him and ask for forgiveness… but that part of me, the one that needs to let go of pride, isn’t active today. That he, of all people, treats me like this—like everyone else, like I’m just some whore—is more than I can bear. And I won’t give him the satisfaction of seeing me humiliated.
Oscar exhales sharply, his breath brushing my face. He turns away, and I think he’s going to hit Beni again—but he doesn’t. With a low growl, he storms past me like a damn hurricane and leaves, slamming the office door so hard I can hear the wood crack.
“Get out,” Beni mutters from the floor, still holding his jaw.
“You’re a fucking idiot!” I shout.
“Get the fuck out, both of you!” He looks at Lina angrily. “You too. Get back to work.”
I’m the first to leave. I take the stairs two at a time and scan the crowd for Oscar. He might hate me—and right now, I’m not too fond of him either. I’m furious and hurt, but I still care about him and what he might do if he loses control.
I finally spot him near the exit, and I push and elbow my way through the crowd to get to him. When I finally reach the door, he’s gone. I step outside and rush toward the parking lot. Pablo is standing next to the SUV. He frowns at me, and then his gaze shifts toward another car coming my way.
I freeze, and then I realize the passenger inside is Oscar. Our eyes meet for a split second before the car drives past me.
I curse under my breath, and a sharp pain settles in my chest—a pain that feels like a damn black hole. I always believed Oscar could never hurt me. But he just did, and he didn’t even have to lay a finger on me. He hurt me with his words, with the way he walked away from me. And what stings the most… is that the person driving that car was none other than goody Raina.
