Chapter 146 Chapter 146

Chapter 146 Chapter 146
After returning to the city, the guys immediately took Logan to the hospital.

They were currently waiting outside the ER while Logan was being attended to.

Chase couldn't sit still. One moment he was sitting in the waiting chair, and the next he was on his feet, pacing back and forth with his hands running nervously through his hair.

Jace watched him for a moment before sighing and standing up. He walked over and placed a hand on Chase's shoulder.

"Hey. He's going to be okay." He said softly.

Chase looked at him, his eyes red and swollen from crying. He shook his head slowly.

"Will he really?" He asked, his voice broken.

Jace sighed. "We're all going to be here for him. You know that."

Chase wiped the tears from his face with his palm before running a hand through his hair again.

"If I hadn't let him leave... If I had just trusted my gut. If I had gone there earlier—"

"Chase." Jace stopped him before he could continue. "Now isn't the time to blame yourself."

Chase lowered his head.

"Stop thinking everything that happened is your fault," Jace continued gently. "It isn't. None of this is your fault, and it definitely isn't Logan's."

Chase sniffled, trying desperately to hold back another wave of tears.

"The only person I'm blaming is the bastard who did this." Jace said, his voice becoming harder. "And when we find him, he'll answer for every single thing he did."

Chase nodded weakly before suddenly pulling Jace into a tight hug.

He buried his face against Jace's shoulder and began sobbing again.

Jace held him firmly, rubbing his back.

"It's okay." He whispered. "It's going to be okay."

Just then, the door to Logan's room opened.

The doctor stepped out.

Chase immediately pulled away from Jace and wiped his face before rushing toward her. The others stood up as well.

"Doctor, how is he?" Chase asked, his heart pounding.

The doctor looked at him with a sympathetic expression before glancing down at the medical notes in her hands.

"He's physically stable." She said. "We've treated the injuries we found, and he's responding well. But there are some things you need to understand."

Chase's expression immediately became tense.

The doctor continued carefully. "The examination confirmed that Logan was sexually assaulted, and we've also detected a substance in his system consistent with the drug you told us about."

Chase's face went pale.

The words seemed to echo inside his head.

Sexually assaulted.

Drugged.

He struggled to breathe normally.

"He's going to need time to recover physically." The doctor continued. "But the emotional and psychological effects may take much longer. An experience like this can be extremely traumatic."

Chase's eyes filled with tears again.

"Will he..." His voice broke. "Will he be okay?"

"We can't predict exactly how he'll respond once he becomes fully aware of what happened." The doctor replied gently. "For now, the most important thing is that he feels safe. He needs patience, reassurance, and as little pressure as possible."

She paused.

"Once he's physically recovered enough, I'd strongly recommend that he speak with a therapist or other qualified mental health professional who has experience helping people recover from trauma."

Chase nodded slowly, trying to absorb everything she was saying.

"We'll also keep him under observation for the next few days." The doctor added. "We'll monitor his physical condition and make sure there aren't any complications before we discharge him."

Jace stepped forward and gently took Chase's hand.

"Thank you, doctor." He said.

The doctor nodded.

"I'll need someone to come with me to complete some paperwork."

"I'll do it." Scott said immediately, stepping forward.

The doctor nodded before turning and walking away, with Scott following behind her.

The others slowly sat back down.

Chase remained standing for a moment, staring at the closed door behind which Logan was resting.

The pain in his chest slowly gave way to something darker.

Anger.

His hands curled into tight fists, his jaw clenching as the image of Logan lying helplessly on that bed flashed through his mind again.

Liam had done this.

Liam had betrayed Logan's trust, hurt him, and left him in that state.

Chase couldn't just sit there knowing that bastard was still out there.

He suddenly turned around and started walking away.

Jace immediately noticed.

"Chase?"

Chase didn't stop.

Jace quickly caught up with him and grabbed his hand.

"Where are you going?"

Chase stopped, his entire body trembling with rage.

"I'm going to find him." He said through gritted teeth.

Jace stared at him. "And then what?"

Chase turned to face him, his eyes burning with anger.

"I'm going to kill him."

Jace's expression hardened, but he didn't let go of Chase's hand.

"Chase, listen to me."

"I can't just sit here!" Chase snapped, his voice breaking with rage. "That bastard did this to Logan. He drugged him, he hurt him, and he left him there like he was nothing!"

"I know."

"I need to make him pay."

"And you will." Jace said firmly. "But right now, Logan needs you."

Chase's breathing became heavier.

Jace tightened his grip around his hand.

"He's going to wake up soon, Chase. And when he does, he needs to see you there. He needs to know he's safe."

Chase looked toward Logan's room.

His anger hadn't disappeared. If anything, it was still burning inside him, demanding that he go after Liam immediately.

"I'll deal with Liam." Jace continued. "You stay with Logan."

Chase shook his head slightly, still struggling with the decision.

"I want him to pay for this."

"And he will."

Jace's voice softened.

"But right now, Logan needs you."

Those words finally reached him.

Chase closed his eyes and took a long, shaky breath.

His fists slowly loosened.

After a moment, he nodded.

"Okay."

Jace gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Go to him."

Chase nodded again before slowly walking back toward Logan's room.

He stopped outside the door for a moment, wiping his face and taking several deep breaths. He couldn't walk into that room looking like he was falling apart.

Logan needed someone strong.

So Chase forced himself to steady his breathing, wiped away the remaining tears and carefully composed his expression.

Only then did he open the door and quietly step inside.

The moment the door closed behind him, Jacob and Ethan approached Jace.

"You should stay with him." Jacob said. "We'll track Liam down ourselves."

Jace shook his head.

"No."

Jacob frowned. "Jace—"

"I want to find that bastard myself."

His voice was low, his jaw clenched tightly.

"After what he did to Logan, there's no way I'm sitting around waiting for someone else to find him."

Ethan nodded.

"Then we'll help."

Jace looked at him.

"Logan is my friend too.'' Ethan continued. "I'm not letting that bastard get away with this."

Jace nodded slowly.

"Then let's find him."

The three of them exchanged a determined look before turning toward the hallway.

None of them knew where Liam was.

But they were going to find him.

And when they did, Liam was going to pay for what he'd done—with his blood.
