Chapter 141 Chapter 141
Chapter 141 Chapter 141
Logan had just finished showering. The moment he opened the bathroom door, he nearly jumped out of his skin when he found Chase standing right outside.
"Babe! What the hell? You scared me!''
Chase didn't laugh. He stood there with a deep frown on his face, his expression unusually stern. Without saying anything, he raised Logan's phone, showing him the message that had just popped up.
Logan wiped the water from his face with the palm of his hand before leaning closer to read it.
It was from Liam.
He was asking Logan to meet him one last time because he would be leaving the country very soon.
Logan sighed softly.
''You're not going.'' Chase stated firmly.
Logan couldn't help chuckling. ''Relax, babe. It's just a simple meet up before he leaves. It's really not that deep.''
"No, it is that deep." Chase's expression hardened. "The guy loves you, Logan. What if this isn't just a simple meet up? I don't have a good feeling about this, and I don't want you to go."
Logan sighed deeply before stepping closer and wrapping his arms around Chase's waist. He was still dripping wet from his shower, but Chase didn't seem to care.
"Please, babe. It's really important that I see him one last time. He's still my friend."
Chase let out a long breath and slowly shook his head.
Logan pulled back slightly so he could look into his eyes.
"I know you're worried because of what happened, but I can assure you everything is okay. I made it clear to him that I can't accept his feelings, and I'm sure Liam understands. I'll just meet him this one last time, and that's it."
He gave Chase the pleading look he knew was almost impossible for him to resist.
"He's still my friend." He added softly.
Chase stared at him for several seconds before finally groaning in defeat.
"Fine."
A bright smile immediately spread across Logan's face.
"But." Chase added, raising a warning finger, "I'm keeping track of you. I want you to tell me the moment you get there and exactly where you are. I want every single detail, and don't even think about getting drunk."
Logan laughed.
"You might as well just put a tracker on me."
"I'm being serious, Logan."
The smile on Logan's face faded slightly when he saw how genuinely worried Chase looked.
"Fine." He replied, matching his seriousness. "I'll let you know when I get there and where we are."
"And you also have exactly one hour with him. If it goes beyond that, I'm coming over immediately."
"Okay."
Chase sighed before pulling Logan into another hug.
For some reason, his mind still wouldn't settle.
Last night, he'd had a horrible dream. He'd woken up with his heart pounding and a strange sense of fear he couldn't explain. In the dream, Logan had been hurt, and Chase had been desperately trying to save him, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't reach him.
He'd brushed it off as nothing more than a nightmare.
But now, with Liam suddenly asking Logan to meet him again, that same feeling of dread had returned.
He didn't want to think too much about it, but he couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in his chest.
"I'm fine, babe." Logan whispered, almost as though he could sense his thoughts. "It's just Liam. There's nothing to worry about."
"Hmm."
Chase reluctantly pulled away and forced a small smile.
"I'll let you go get ready for school. I'm taking Lucky to the vet later today."
"Okay."
Logan leaned forward and kissed his cheek before walking away.
Chase watched him leave before looking down at the phone still in his hand.
For a moment, he simply stared at it.
Then Logan's earlier words echoed in his mind.
"You might as well just put a tracker on me.''
Chase frowned.
He knew Logan had only been joking, but after the strange feeling he'd been carrying since waking up that morning, he couldn't bring himself to ignore it.
He wasn't trying to invade Logan's privacy. He just wanted to know that he was safe.
After a moment of hesitation, Chase made the decision.
He set up a location tracker on Logan's phone so he could see where he was whenever he needed to.
When it was finally done, he stared at the screen for a few seconds before letting out a slow breath.
He felt a little more at ease.
But only a little.
He knew it was just Liam.
And somehow, that was exactly what worried him the most.
Logan had just finished his classes and hockey practice for the day. He was currently in the school's parking lot, standing beside his car as he pulled his phone from his pocket.
He glanced at the screen for a moment before finding Liam's number and placing the call.
The phone barely rang before Liam answered.
"Logan."
"Hey, Liam." Logan smiled faintly. "Where should I meet you? I just finished with school activities."
There was a brief pause on the other end.
"I... I'll text you the location."
Something in Liam's voice made Logan pause.
He sounded nervous.
"Liam." He called softly.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence.
"Yeah?"
"Are you okay?"
"Of course." Liam quickly replied, though his voice still sounded slightly strained. "I'm just... feeling sad. I've only just reconnected with you, and now it feels like I'm about to lose you again."
Logan's expression softened.
"You're not losing me."
He leaned against the side of his car, his voice gentle.
"No matter where you go, we'll always be friends, Liam. And besides, I'm always going to bug you with messages, so you better get ready because you're probably going to get sick of me."
A quiet chuckle came from the other end.
"It'll be a pleasure."
Logan smiled.
"I'll see you soon. Just don't forget to text me the location."
"I won't."
"See you."
"See you soon, Logan."
The call ended.
Logan slipped his phone back into his pocket and opened his car door. He got inside, started the engine, and pulled out of the parking lot, completely unaware of the thoughts running through Liam's mind.
All Logan could think about was seeing his friend one last time before he left.
And he had no idea just how much that meeting was about to change everything.
