Chapter 95 Why Are You Here?
"She ate even less today."
Elizabeth glanced at Aria's bowl of rice, paused for a moment, then replied.
Arthur felt even more uncomfortable. So it was because he was here that she ate less?
Did she hate him that much now? She didn't even want to eat with him anymore?
Seeing Arthur remain silent, Elizabeth sighed helplessly. "How is Sophie doing now? Is it serious?"
Arthur paused at her words and nodded slightly. "According to the doctor, it's pretty serious. They're still looking to see if they can find better treatment options."
Arthur didn't hide anything from Elizabeth, but he didn't go into detail either, just gave her a general idea of the situation.
"I'm full too. You keep eating."
Arthur had no desire to continue his meal either. After telling Elizabeth to finish eating, he got up and left.
Elizabeth looked at the large dining table with only herself remaining, sighed deeply, and found the food tasteless.
After leaving the dining room, Arthur went back to his study to deal with company matters. During this time, he'd been focused on Sophie, leaving his assistant to handle company affairs. Some things still needed his final approval.
By the time Arthur finished dealing with company business, it was already past nine at night. Seeing how late it was, he couldn't help thinking of Aria, remembering she hadn't eaten much at dinner, so he had Ann prepare a late-night snack.
Arthur carried the bowl of food to Aria's bedroom door. Just as he was about to push the door open, he heard Aria's voice from inside, chatting and laughing, seemingly on the phone with someone.
A flash of coldness crossed his eyes. The bowl of food in his hands suddenly felt like a joke. Unable to hold back any longer, he pushed the door open, his voice cold and heavy. "Aria!"
Aria was startled by the sudden intrusion. She turned to look, and when she saw it was Arthur, her smile froze, replaced by a furrowed brow. "Arthur, what are you doing?"
Seeing Aria's obviously different attitude, Arthur's eyes turned cold. He stepped forward and snatched her phone, seeing the name "Lance" on the screen. His expression darkened further. He hung up directly, tossed the phone aside, and slammed the bowl of food down heavily.
"I should be asking you that. What do you think you're doing? This is how you treat me, but with Lance you're all sweet and chatty? You even have him sending things to the house every day. Do you think I'm dead?"
Aria's eyes trembled following Arthur's movements, and she instinctively felt guilty, but that was quickly replaced by mockery. She glanced coldly at Arthur. "What? I just make a phone call and you can't handle it? When you were with Sophie, did you ever think about whether I could handle it?"
Arthur froze at her words. Meeting Aria's eyes, he found himself at a loss for words.
"Can you please stop bringing this up every time?"
"What? You can say it but I can't?"
Aria's words were full of mockery.
"If you want to talk about my business, manage your own first. Deal with your outside affairs first, then come talk to me. Otherwise, you have no right to question me. What I'm doing now doesn't even come close to one ten-thousandth of what you've done!"
With that, Aria pushed Arthur out and locked the door, giving him no chance to say more.
Aria slammed the door so hard it nearly hit Arthur's nose. Looking at the tightly closed door before him, he frowned deeply, his eyes full of frustration.
He ran his hands through his hair, leaving it a mess. That night, he didn't leave. He just stood silently outside Aria's door, sleepless all night.
The next day.
Aria learned from Ann that Arthur had stayed up all night, standing outside her bedroom door the entire time.
When she heard this news, surprise flashed in Aria's eyes. She hadn't expected Arthur to do such a thing. What was he trying to say? A belated awakening?
"Where is he?"
Ann answered honestly, "He left early this morning."
"Okay."
Aria said nothing more, just silently ate breakfast and left.
After she left, Ann reported the situation to Elizabeth.
Hearing Ann's words, Elizabeth couldn't help but frown, feeling somewhat helpless. But there wasn't much she could say. After all, they were both adults with their own thoughts. If they could only separate in the end, then so be it.
The key issue now was Sophie's condition. If she didn't recover well, Arthur would definitely feel guilty for the rest of his life.
Thinking of Arthur's current situation, Elizabeth sighed deeply.
Compared to Elizabeth's worries, when Sophie learned that Arthur had stood outside Aria's door all night, she was absolutely furious.
That bitch Aria!
Even at this point, she still wouldn't give up trying to seduce Arthur. Did she and Arthur think she didn't exist?
It seemed she needed to take stronger measures.
Sophie went straight to Dr. Julie. "Dr. Julie, I need you to forge another report for me, something more serious."
Hearing this, Dr. Julie's eyes showed deep surprise and confusion. "Miss Smith, wasn't the previous one enough? You need something more serious?"
The reports she'd already created for Sophie were serious enough. How could they not be enough?
Sophie nodded. "Yes. I'll have the money transferred to that account again."
Money makes the world go round, especially for something like forging medical records.
After a long silence, Dr. Julie said, "But Miss Smith, I should remind you that Mr. Grant has asked me to look for hospitals, and he'll definitely search on his own too. If the situation seems too serious, I'm afraid it might backfire."
Sophie understood, of course, but she couldn't wait any longer. She needed Arthur to make a choice!
She couldn't wait anymore. Otherwise, given Aria's current situation, if she had more time to influence Arthur, his heart might turn to Aria. She couldn't tolerate that outcome.
"I know. Just do as I say."
Seeing Aria's insistence, Dr. Julie could only nod in agreement. "Alright, I'll do as you say."
After settling things with Dr. Julie, Sophie didn't stay at the hospital. Instead, she put on light makeup to look weak and headed to the Grant family villa.
When Sophie arrived at the Grant family villa, Elizabeth was taking a walk in the garden.
"Auntie."
Elizabeth, who was walking, froze at the sound of the voice. She turned toward it and saw Sophie standing at the entrance.
Seeing Sophie, Elizabeth thought of what Arthur had said, and her brow furrowed slightly. She walked over. "Why are you here?"
