Chapter 94 His Jealousy
It was Arthur.
She didn't know when he'd come back or how long he'd been standing there.
Aria didn't answer Arthur's question. She calmly put away her phone and walked into the house.
Seeing Aria ignore him again, Arthur felt annoyed. What was going on with her? Was she just treating him like he was invisible? Or was she feeling guilty?
As soon as this thought came to him, Arthur felt sure he was right.
Only guilt would make her act this way.
His eyes flashed as he strode after her. "Aria."
With his long strides, the man caught up to her in just a few steps. He reached out and grabbed her hand, his voice cold. "So now you won't even say a word to me?"
Aria was forced to stop. She looked down at the hand he was holding, then said slowly, "I don't know what we have left to talk about. If it's just endless arguing, then it's better not to talk at all, don't you think?"
Aria was too calm right now, as if he were someone completely unimportant.
Realizing this, Arthur felt his heart clench painfully. He instinctively wanted to explain, but found he didn't know where to start.
All the explanations he wanted to give seemed incredibly weak at this moment.
"Sophie took a bullet for me, that's how she got hurt. Her condition now is because her old injury got worse. No matter what, I can't just ignore her."
Arthur didn't know why he was telling her this. He just didn't want her to misunderstand him right now.
"Are you explaining?"
Aria hadn't expected Arthur to bring this up directly. After a moment of surprise, she looked at him, her tone calm.
"I..."
Seeing Arthur hesitate, Aria cut him off directly. "Fine, I'll take this as your explanation. But why are you explaining? Are you hoping I won't hurt her?"
Aria's expression was composed, her gaze calm as she looked at him.
Arthur, who could hold his own in any business debate, suddenly felt like words were stuck in his throat.
He didn't know how to answer her question.
Arthur's silence was exactly what Aria expected, and precisely because she expected it, she found it laughable.
She said nothing more, silently pulling her hand from his, her face calm. "Arthur, let me ask you—are you really sure it was Sophie who took that bullet for you?"
The moment Aria finished speaking, Arthur was clearly stunned. He asked instinctively, "What do you mean?"
Aria just gave a quiet laugh and shook her head. "Nothing. I'm just curious how you're so sure she was the one who took that bullet for you. Just based on what she told you?"
Arthur didn't respond, but his behavior proved Aria's point exactly. A look of understanding flashed in her eyes. Ha...
"Aria, do you know something?"
Seeing her reaction, Arthur felt inexplicably panicked. He grabbed her hand, asking urgently.
Aria shook her head lightly. "What could I know? I was just asking. I'm going upstairs to shower now."
This time Aria didn't look back, heading straight upstairs.
Arthur watched Aria's retreating figure, his brow furrowing tightly. For the first time, he felt doubt about this matter.
If it wasn't Sophie back then, then who could it have been?
Arthur really couldn't think of any problems with what happened back then. What did Aria's words just now mean?
Could she know something he didn't?
Right now, Arthur felt his mind was a complete mess. He forced himself to calm down and made a phone call. "Help me investigate that shooting from three years ago again. I need detailed results."
The next day, Lance really did have someone deliver the fertilizer, along with several pots of rare flower varieties.
When they were delivered, Aria happened to be away, so Ann signed for them.
Ann followed Aria's instructions and placed the fertilizer and flowers next to the rainbow roses.
Just as she finished handling everything, Arthur came out of the house. Seeing the additional flowers, he couldn't help but frown, asking in a low voice, "Why are there more flowers?"
Ann quickly said, "They were sent by Mrs. Grant's friend. She went out and asked me to sign for them."
Friend?
Arthur's frown deepened. "What friend?"
"I'm not sure, but I think I heard the delivery people mention something about Mr. Gray..."
Ann's words seemed to knock over a jar of vinegar. Arthur's expression instantly darkened to the extreme. After glancing deeply at the flowers, he strode away.
Ann also felt the low pressure coming from Arthur. Her body trembled involuntarily, and she kept her head lowered without speaking.
Only after Arthur left and the oppressive feeling disappeared did she breathe a sigh of relief.
When Aria came back in the afternoon, she also saw the additional flowers. After thanking Lance, she asked him about the price, but Lance said it wasn't necessary. In the end, Aria still transferred him money based on the market price.
After finishing all this, she noticed Ann seemed to want to say something.
"What's wrong, Ann? Is something the matter?"
"When these were delivered this morning, sir happened to come downstairs..."
Ann told Aria about what Arthur had asked.
Hearing Ann's words, Aria's expression dimmed slightly, but she just nodded lightly. "Okay, I understand. It's fine."
"Okay."
That evening, Arthur came home for dinner, which was unusual.
Aria was a bit surprised to see Arthur come home for dinner. Didn't he need to keep Sophie company?
But Aria didn't ask out loud. After all, no woman would ask her husband why he wasn't keeping another woman company.
However, Aria didn't talk much with Arthur either. He came home, but she treated him like he was invisible the whole time.
Arthur tried several times to talk to Aria, but seeing that she wouldn't even look at him, he could only stay silent. He just added more of her favorite dishes to her plate when they came around. The two didn't exchange a word the entire time.
He hadn't come home to eat with her during this period. Yesterday, Elizabeth mentioned that Aria's appetite didn't seem very good lately, so he thought he'd come back to check on her.
Plus, after what happened this morning, he felt it was necessary to remind Aria that they weren't divorced yet!
Elizabeth watched the undercurrents between them, sighed softly, and said nothing, eating quietly.
During the meal, everyone ate with their own thoughts.
After eating briefly, Aria left for her room first.
As soon as she left, Arthur also stopped eating. The delicious food before him tasted like wax. He suddenly lost his appetite and sat in his seat with a dark expression, his gaze fixed on Aria's bowl of rice that had barely been touched, his voice cold.
"Has she been eating this little lately?"
