Chapter 85 Sophie’s Thoughts
"Got it."
Sophie lowered her head sheepishly after being lectured by Dr. Julie.
Arthur watched this scene, feeling guilty himself. He nodded and said, "Okay, I'll be careful. Does she need to be hospitalized?"
Dr. Julie looked at Sophie's report and said slowly, "Yes, she should stay for observation. Otherwise, if she doesn't follow doctor's orders at home and her condition worsens, that would be troublesome."
Arthur nodded, "Alright, then she'll stay."
"Just rest easy and stay in the hospital. I'll arrange for someone to take over your projects at the company these next few days. Don't worry, and I'll come keep you company too."
"Okay, you can handle things at the company. As for keeping me company, it doesn't matter. Just come when you're free, you don't need to make a special trip."
Sophie comforted him very considerately, looking completely like she was thinking of him.
Her manner made Arthur feel even more guilty. He couldn't help but put his arm around her shoulder and said gently, "What are you saying? You got hurt because of me, and now your old injury has flared up. How could I not stay with you while you're hospitalized? Don't think about these things anymore. What you need to do now is recover well. As for everything else, I'll handle it."
Arthur stared intently at Sophie. She looked into his deep eyes, as if she would drown in them. Why should a man like him be exclusively possessed by a woman like Aria? He should be hers!
Sophie became even more convinced that she was the one who deserved Arthur the most. That day at the Grant family home, Elizabeth had also softened after learning that she had been injured protecting Arthur. She should seize this opportunity and use this "relapse of old injury" to capture both mother and son in one fell swoop.
A plan to win over both mother and son of the Grant family quietly formed in her mind...
Arthur had no idea what Sophie was thinking. He upgraded her hospital room and hired a senior nurse to take special care of her.
By the time he finished all this, it was already late at night.
He had been busy at the hospital all evening dealing with Sophie's situation and forgot to call home to say he'd be back late.
During this time, apart from one phone call from Elizabeth, there were no other calls from home. Aria hadn't even sent a single message, as if whether he came home or not had no impact on her at all.
This realization made Arthur's mood even worse, and he couldn't help but recall what Lance had said today...
Damn it!
What exactly did that woman Aria want to do? What did she think he was to her?
He had to find time to ask her properly, to ask what she was really thinking.
The villa.
Aria had already come home and showered.
Usually by this time she would already be lying in bed ready to rest, but today she inexplicably couldn't sleep...
She didn't want to dig into the reason, afraid she would trap herself in unnecessary emotions again.
But some things, the more you try to forget them, the more you remember them.
Like now—her mind was full of Arthur.
Recently, Arthur had been coming home early every day. Although she was somewhat resistant to their mode of interaction, when Arthur actually came home late, her mind uncontrollably thought of him.
She had clearly told herself to bury her feelings for him deep in her heart, so why was it so difficult?
Aria resisted calling Arthur because she didn't want him to think she really couldn't live without him. If she did that, he would hold onto that point even more, and divorce would become even harder.
While Aria was immersed in her thoughts, her phone suddenly buzzed. Her thoughts were instantly pulled back, and she opened her phone to check the message.
It was from Sophie!
When she saw the source of the message, Aria's heart couldn't help but skip a beat. She had an inexplicable premonition that this late-night message might be related to Arthur's not coming home.
She took a deep breath and opened the message.
It was a picture.
The person in the photo was Arthur, and he was changing clothes...
Aria's heart couldn't help but tremble. The reason she determined it was today's photo was because the outfit Arthur was about to take off in the picture was exactly what he had worn when he left this morning.
So his not coming home was because he had another beauty keeping him company.
Ha!
Aria laughed self-mockingly. What was she still hoping for?
Wake up!
She had been slightly swayed by Arthur's recent kindness and had almost taken out her heart again, but fortunately, before she could, Arthur couldn't hold back...
Aria couldn't help but feel grateful—grateful for her firmness during this time, grateful that she hadn't given in. Otherwise, in Arthur's eyes, wouldn't she be like a clown he could summon and dismiss at will?
She didn't delete that message. Instead, she saved it. These photos would become strong evidence when she proposed divorce in the future!
After doing all this, she took a deep breath. Somewhere in her heart there was a sour pain, a feeling she didn't want to savor.
Arthur had no idea Sophie had pulled this move behind his back.
When he was with Sophie in the hospital room, his clothes accidentally got stained with some of her medicine. Sophie suggested he take off his clothes to wash them.
Arthur initially said it wasn't necessary, but the medicine smell was really too strong and he couldn't stand it, so he had his assistant bring a new set of clothes for him to change into.
Sophie also took this opportunity to secretly photograph Arthur changing clothes and sent it to Aria.
She deliberately didn't add any text, just to let Aria's imagination run wild.
Some things, if she said too much, would seem fake.
But some things, with just pictures and no words, would invite endless speculation from others. This was exactly the result she wanted.
As long as Aria completely gave up on Arthur, she wouldn't pester him anymore, and then Arthur could only be hers.
Arthur didn't know Sophie's thoughts. After changing clothes, he came out of the family rest room and saw Sophie lost in thought. He frowned slightly, "What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable somewhere?"
Sophie came back to her senses at his voice. Meeting Arthur's concerned eyes, she smiled gently and shook her head, "No, I was just thinking about when I took that bullet for you."
Arthur's frown deepened, "Why are you thinking about that out of the blue?"
"How is this not a good thing? If I hadn't taken that bullet back then, you wouldn't be standing here healthy now. We should be celebrating, celebrating that we got the greatest return with the smallest price."
Sophie spoke very seriously, as if this matter really was a good thing.
Arthur listened to her words, and the guilt in his heart grew even stronger, "It's my fault for letting you suffer so much."
