Chapter 112 I Sign

Chapter 112 I Sign

When Arthur heard Victor's words, his pupils suddenly contracted. A flash of disbelief crossed his eyes as he reached out and snatched the document Victor handed him. When he saw the title "Divorce Agreement" in black and white, his breathing stopped for a beat.

Aria had actually hired a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement. She was dead set on divorcing him!

"Did she really ask you to draft this?"

Arthur took a deep breath and looked at Victor, his hand trembling slightly as he gripped the agreement.

Seeing Arthur like this, Victor nodded gently. "Yes, Ms. Hall also has a message for you."

A glimmer of hope rose again in Arthur's eyes. "What is it?"

"She said you should sign the agreement as soon as possible and not waste any more time."

As Victor finished speaking, the glimmer of hope in Arthur's eyes withered away.

Watching Arthur lower his head in silence, Victor said slowly, "Mr. Grant, please review the agreement first. If you have any questions, contact me. Ms. Hall has put me in full charge of this matter."

Arthur looked up at Victor and said in a low voice, "So she doesn't even want to communicate with me anymore?"

"Ms. Hall said that since you already have a new lover, there's really no need to bother each other anymore."

Victor's casual remark hit him like a heavy hammer to the heart.

No need to bother each other.

What a "no need to bother each other."

Seeing Arthur hanging his head in silence, Victor sighed softly, turned and left, letting Arthur digest this matter alone.

He had handled too many divorce cases like this—they were all just about the one who was loved regretting it later.

After so many years at the law firm, these things no longer affected him much.

Sophie arrived just as she brushed past Victor. Seeing the unfamiliar face, she was a bit suspicious. After entering the room and seeing Arthur's somewhat dazed expression, her eyes flashed as she said softly, "Arthur, who was that? A friend of yours? I haven't seen him before."

As Sophie spoke, she walked up to Arthur. She didn't get an answer from him. Instead, she saw a white document he was clutching tightly in his hand, with several large words written clearly on the cover.

Divorce Agreement!

A dark gleam flashed through Sophie's eyes as she said in surprise, "Arthur, you and Ms. Hall aren't divorced yet?"

Sophie's voice brought Arthur back from his thoughts. He looked up at Sophie, seeing the surprise in her eyes, and his throat tightened. "There were some complications..."

"Didn't you say you would handle this? How come you're still not divorced? And you went ahead and had a wedding with me while still married—no wonder Ms. Hall resents me... She must think I forced you to marry me..."

As Sophie said this, her eyes filled with grievance, and they reddened slightly.

Seeing Sophie's red eyes, Arthur felt a flash of guilt, but he still denied her words. "No, she won't resent you!"

"How could she not? If she didn't resent me, those things wouldn't have happened at the wedding. She thinks I destroyed her marriage. She wants me dead!"

Sophie's words were filled with deep fear as she continued, "If you hadn't pushed me away then, I'd be the one lying here now. How can you say she doesn't resent me!"

Sophie took out her phone from her bag, pulled up several photos, and showed them to Arthur. "This is the chandelier's mounting—there are signs of deliberate loosening. You know what deliberate loosening means, right? This is premeditated murder. If no one investigates, they'll just think it was an accident. Our entire wedding venue, including this chandelier, was set up by Ms. Hall's studio. Tell me, isn't this her doing?"

Looking at the evidence on Sophie's phone, Arthur furrowed his brow tightly. After a long while, he said, "She has no motive to do this."

Sophie said desperately, "How could she have no motive? Our wedding is her motive!"

As if making a major decision, Arthur took a deep breath. "Between her and me, she's been the one wanting a divorce, and I haven't agreed. So she definitely wouldn't go after you because I'm marrying you. She has no reason to do this."

As soon as Arthur said this, Sophie's eyes widened immediately, looking at Arthur in disbelief. "What did you say? She's been wanting a divorce, but you won't agree?"

Hearing Sophie's question, Arthur nodded slightly. "Yes."

"Why? Why won't you agree? Have you fallen in love with her?"

For once, Arthur didn't answer, but his silence said everything.

Sophie gave a bitter smile. "Then what about me? What am I to you? What are we? Am I just being presumptuous?"

Seeing Sophie like this, Arthur felt uncomfortable too. He reached out to take her hand, but she avoided him.

"So I'm just a homewrecker, is that it?"

"No, you're not."

Arthur wanted to explain, but found that all his explanations seemed incredibly pale. It was indeed because of him that these two women were in this situation.

"Forget it. If you don't want to divorce, then don't. We don't need to go through with our wedding either. After all, I'm dying anyway. These things were never meant for me to hope for. Just live happily with her!"

Sophie took a deep breath and spoke with finality, as if she had made some decision.

Sophie's words hit Arthur's heart hard. Seeing her about to turn and leave, Arthur couldn't care about the pain in his body. He got down from the hospital bed and grabbed her hand. "Sophie..."

"Why are you still holding onto me? Since I already know you can't let her go, I can't possibly be the third party that everyone condemns. I, Sophie, can die, but I can't die with that kind of identity. Do you understand, Arthur?!"

Sophie cried silently, her tears falling on Arthur's hand like they weighed a thousand pounds, making his hands tremble uncontrollably.

Seeing Arthur remain silent, Sophie pressed harder. "Arthur, you don't need to think about it anymore. Saving you was my own choice to begin with. You really don't need to sacrifice your love for someone like me who's dying anyway. It's not worth it! Someone as good as you—I really don't deserve you!"

Sophie was about to pull her hand from Arthur's grip. Just as she turned around, she heard Arthur's low voice. "I'll sign."

Sophie froze, stopped in her tracks, and looked at Arthur in surprise. "What?"

"I said I'll sign. This divorce agreement—I'll sign it!"

Arthur looked up to meet Sophie's gaze, his eyes slightly red, his breathing heavy, as if he had just made a major decision...
