Preparations

As the wedding day approached, it seemed like everyone else was more involved in the preparations than I was.

Jim kept coming up with his grandiose ideas, and I was increasingly convinced that he really knew what he was doing. But what surprised me the most was seeing Mr. R. and his other friends joining him in planning the ceremony.

When Jim suggested that Mr. R. help with the ceremony, I must admit that I was a little apprehensive. After all, Mr. R. had always been reserved, with a manner that exuded wisdom but also a certain distance. He was the kind of person who got involved in things in a subtle way, without drawing too much attention to himself.

However, to my surprise, he accepted the wedding invitation. And to my surprise, Mr. R. had some wonderful ideas for the ceremony. He suggested that the wedding be by the sea, taking advantage of the natural setting that meant so much to us.

The idea of feeling the gentle ocean breeze and hearing the sound of the waves during the ceremony enchanted me.

The beach had become a symbolic place, not only because it was where we left our fears and traumas behind, but also because it was where Ryan and I strengthened our connection.

Mr. R. suggested a simple altar made of rustic wood, decorated with white and green flowers that would match the surrounding landscape. He seemed to know Ryan’s and my tastes well, choosing every detail with precision.

The fact that he was so involved in something that was so important to me warmed my heart. It made me realize how much he cared, and how much the bond we had created after our experience on the island had strengthened.

While Mr. R. took care of the details of the altar, Jim and the other friends took on the more practical responsibilities. Michael, for example, was in charge of the drinks and food. He had an amazing talent for choosing wines and dishes that paired perfectly.

Even though the trauma of Michael was present, we all made an effort to focus on the present and prepare for the future.

The truth is that, somehow, the past events brought us together in unexpected ways. Jim, of course, was in charge of everything.

He didn’t miss a single detail, from the music that would play in the background to the seating arrangements for the guests. Seeing his enthusiasm made me laugh, easing some of the anxiety that I inevitably felt. Even though all the help and preparations were going wonderfully, there was still that butterflies in my stomach that always appear when something so important was about to happen.

Ryan, on the other hand, was by my side at all times, making sure that I was comfortable and happy with every decision.

He involved himself in the preparations in a way that I never imagined he would. Even with all the challenges he had faced recently, he was determined to make this day one of the happiest of our lives.

The way he looked at me as we discussed the plans, with a sparkle in his eyes that showed his love and dedication, made me know that I was making the right decision in marrying him.

The beach we chose for the ceremony was a little bit out of the way, ensuring the privacy we needed.

Only our closest friends would be there, and that made the moment feel even more special. It wouldn’t be a big event, but rather an intimate celebration, full of meaning for all of us.

I couldn’t stop imagining what it would be like to walk along the sand, hand in hand with Ryan, feeling like I had finally found my place in the world.

As the days passed and the preparations progressed, I began to realize how happy I was, despite all the nervousness.

Organizing a wedding is no easy task, but doing it with the people you love makes it all easier. With each choice we made together, I felt like we were building not only an event, but also the beginning of a new phase in our lives.

Ryan and I decided to write our own vows. We knew it would be difficult to put into words everything we felt, but we also knew it was the only way to express what that moment truly meant.

Over the past few months, we have been through so much together, overcome challenges and supported each other. What started as a friendship has grown into something deep and lasting.

The night before the wedding, as I was mentally reviewing the details and trying to imagine what the big day would be like, Ryan showed up with a bottle of wine and two glasses.

We sat on the balcony, facing the ocean, and toasted to the future. He held my hand and, with a serene smile, told me that, regardless of what the next day would bring, he already felt like the luckiest man in the world to have found me.

That night was magical. We talked about our dreams, our fears, and everything we hoped for in the future. It was a moment of pure connection, where we realized that, no matter what

Whatever happened, we were ready to face it all together. At that moment, all the anxiety I had been feeling began to dissipate.

In its place was a calm, a certainty that no matter what the details of the wedding were, the most important thing was what Ryan and I felt for each other.

And so, wrapped in the tranquility of that night, I realized that I was truly ready to take this step. Whatever came next, I knew that with Ryan and our friends by my side, I could face anything.

The wedding day was fast approaching, and although there was still a lot to be done, I knew that in the end, everything would work out. After all, we were surrounded by people who loved us and who wanted to see us happy as much as we did.
