New phase
I woke up that morning with the feeling that something big was about to happen. The sun was streaming through the cracks in the curtains, and I could hear the soft sound of birds singing outside. I got up, leaving my laziness behind, and walked to the window. The sky was blue, and the gentle breeze that came through the window brought with it a sense of renewal.
As I watched the world outside, the reality of the past few days began to settle in on me in a different way. I was about to marry Ryan, the man who had unexpectedly changed my life for the better. Despite all the challenges we had faced together, the prospect of building a future with him brought me a sense of peace and happiness that I had never experienced before.
With this thought in mind, I went to the kitchen to make some coffee. The wheels in my mind were already turning around to prepare for the wedding. Although I was excited, a part of me couldn’t help but feel a little anxious. Planning a wedding is a monumental task in itself, and the thought that everything needed to be perfect was starting to weigh on my shoulders.
I sat at the kitchen table with my cup of coffee, trying to process everything that was about to happen. “You can do it, Deborah,” I told myself, trying to calm my nerves. After all, this was the beginning of a new phase, and I wanted to enjoy every moment without letting my worries overshadow the joy of the event.
Ryan walked into the kitchen soon after, and his easy smile made some of my anxiety subside. He seemed so calm and confident, as if all the things I was worried about were trivial. He walked over to me and gave me a soft kiss on the forehead before sitting down next to me.
“Good morning,” he said, his voice warming the room more than the sun itself. “Are you okay?”
I smiled, trying to shake off the tension that still lingered. “Yes, I am. Just thinking about everything we need to organize for the wedding.”
Ryan chuckled softly, reaching across the table for my hand. “Don’t worry so much. Let’s take it one step at a time. The important thing is that we’re getting married, and that’s all that really matters.” I knew he was right. But at the same time, the anxiety that things would get out of hand was hard to ignore. “I know, Ryan, but… you know how I am. I want everything to be perfect. Not just for us, but for everyone who will be there celebrating with us.” He squeezed my hand, his gaze full of understanding and affection. “And it will be perfect, Deborah. Because it will be our day, and that makes it special. It doesn’t matter what happens, as long as we’re together.” The way Ryan could always calm me down and bring me back to perspective was something I deeply admired about him. I took a deep breath and smiled again, feeling calm finally take over me. “You’re right. I’m not going to let worries get in the way of our happiness.” We spent the rest of the morning brainstorming ideas for the wedding, from the venue to the guest list. It was a light and relaxed conversation, full of laughter and dreams for the future. It was hard to believe that just a short time ago, everything had seemed so uncertain. And now, here we were, planning the rest of our lives together.
In the afternoon, we decided to visit the venue where we had planned to hold our ceremony. It was a stunning garden, full of colorful flowers and majestic trees, which provided the perfect backdrop for our vision. As we walked hand in hand through the garden, we began to visualize what our big day would be like. The idea of being surrounded by friends and family, all there to celebrate our love, filled me with such pure happiness that I almost forgot any trace of nervousness.
As we explored the garden, we talked about details like the decorations, the music we would like to have played, and even the little traditions we wanted to incorporate into the ceremony. Each discussion seemed to bring us closer together, and the certainty that we were doing the right thing only grew stronger with each moment.
When we finally sat down on one of the garden benches to rest, Ryan looked at me with a smile on his face. “Are you happy, Deborah?”
I looked at him, feeling the warmth of love growing in my chest. “Yes, I am. Very much so. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier in my entire life.”
He cupped my face in his hands and gave me a soft, loving kiss. “Me too, Deborah. I never imagined I would find someone like you. And now, the idea of spending the rest of my life with you is all I’ve ever wanted.”
In that moment, all the anxiety I had felt before disappeared. The only thing that mattered was the love we shared and the future we were about to build together. I knew that no matter what challenges we might face, we would always be there for each other, supporting and caring for each other.
When we got back home, we started talking about our lives. We made a list of the things we needed to organize, and excitement filled us. We knew there was still a lot of work to be done, but the most important thing was that we were doing it together.
The rest of the day was filled with more planning, more laughter, and most of all, more love. By the end of the day, lying next to Ryan, I realized that although there were many details to be worked out, the most important thing had already been decided: we were ready to start our life together, and nothing could derail us from that path.
As I closed my eyes and felt the warmth of Ryan’s body next to me, I silently thanked that I had found someone so wonderful to share my life with. No matter what the future brought, I knew that together, we could face anything.
