Chapter 19 You’re not alone!
Chapter 19 You’re not alone!
Brad
I didn’t even know what to say, I just sat there and listened in silence. I always knew something happened that changed some things in her but I never knew it was this serious.
Sitting there and listening to her narrate her story, I just couldn’t help but flash back into mine as well. I mean, we don’t really have much in common as regards relationship because while she stayed in one relationship for years, I got in and out of a couple of relationships during that period. But one common factor was that we both got our heart broken and it really affected us. She decided to stop being kind while I made up my mind not to let it stop me from finding love.
It seemed easy for me but I do understand her situation. The pain gets really worse seeing the one person you loved for years and made lots of sacrifices for, just abandon you and then move on immediately.
Like she said, it would have been easier if she didn’t know he moved on. Maybe she’d have even tried begging him to come back to her, but knowing he replaced her immediately made it clear that it was over indefinitely, and that hurts.
One of my exes did that to me, and it wasn’t even in secret. She went on interview with her new man where they announced they were getting married. This was the same person that was still with me over the weekend when she told me she was pregnant.
I was overjoyed and promised her so many things. To show I was serious, I bought a house for her that same hour.
It was that Monday that I watched the interview, and yes you guessed right, they announced the pregnancy too. I had never been heartbroken my whole life.
It took the help of everyone to get me back on track. I was in a dark place…
“Wow… I really don’t know what to say,” I finally let out while she smiled but it was obviously fake.
“You don’t need to say anything. I didn’t tell you to get sympathy, I just wanted to let it out and I feel better so I guess it worked.” She chimed in.
I could still hear the pain in her voice, and while I know there was nothing I could say to make it go away, I was moved to share my experience too. I know it would help to know she’s not alone.
I went ahead to narrate the several heartbreaks I had to deal with, and by the time I was done, she was done feeling sorry for herself and now feeling my pain.
“You went through all that and you’re still here, happy always, and tolerating my attitude.” She let out and her last line came out funny so I laughed.
“I know right. I’m a big fan of love, you know. My parents have been married for over three decades and they still love each other so much. They brought me up with so much love so I can’t deny it. I believe so much in love and I want to enjoy it. That’s why I made up my mind not to let my past experiences stop me or discourage me.” I let out and she shook her head.
“Wow, that’s quite impressive. You’re a better person than I will ever be.” She retorted and I laughed.
“Trust me, you may think you stopped being a good person but you never did. It’s all in your head. To everyone out there, you’re still the kind, sweet Vivian they’ve always known. As for me, yeah, I’m still in my quest of finding true love and I believe I will.” I let out.
I was careful enough not to reveal my wealth status to her. As much as I think I trust her, I don’t think it’s best to let out the secret yet and it’s stops being a secret once I tell someone. It becomes a topic for discussion and everything gets ruined.
“That’s good actually, but as for me, I’m not ready to get into the love thing for now. I just want to get my life back in order. Get a job and get money and live my life to the fullest.” She let out and that broke back the idea that popped in my mind earlier. I didn’t say anything then so I don’t kill the mood.
“You know an idea popped in my head when you were talking earlier. You mentioned the things you did at your place of work and how you helped built Nathan’s law firm…” I retorted while she looked at me curious, not getting my point.
“How are you not seeing it? You really don’t need a job, Vivian. You can start your own company instead of waiting around for your suspension to be over or going for interviews where you’re not prioritized.” I revealed and it took a second but she finally got the picture too. Her eyes got big immediately but it soon fizzled out. I watched her go from excitement to nonchalance.
“I get the picture you’re trying to paint but I don’t see how it’s realistic. People don’t just wake up in the morning and decide to start a company. There are a lot of things that goes into it before it becomes a reality.” She explained and I nodded.
“Of course you’re right, there are a lot of things that goes into making sure it’s a success. But your first point is exactly how it happens. Yes, people just wake up in the morning and decide to start a company. That was how I…” I almost spilled but I was quick to catch myself.
“How you what? Started your own company, right?” She exclaimed and then burst into laughter.
She looked adorable as she laughed innocently. If only she knew the truth, that she’s sitting with a billionaire who has a multibillion company. But she can’t know so I joined her and burst into laughter too.
“Well, there’s nothing wrong in wanting something good, is it?” I finally broke the laugh and she nodded.
“Yeah right, just like you want me to want it too.” She replied and that was it.
She wasn’t seeing her potential and how much she has in her. So I took the next thirty minutes, enlightening her about the feasibility and how she already has what is needed.
“Wow, you know I never thought about it that way. I was just being me, I never even thought there was something special to it. Now that I think about it, my boss has mentioned it a few times that I had a high chance of giving her a run for her position someday. She said that after we got a contract that seemed so impossible. I took her words as a compliment and it ended there.” She recalled.
“Well, I guess there’s a reason why God sent me into your life then.” I said proudly while she rolled her eyes playfully.
“Ohh please, don’t even go there!” She taunted.
“So are you saying you will act on it, maybe include it in your plan?” I asked while she shook her head.
“I don’t know, I guess I’ll just think about it before making a decision.” She replied.
“That’s good, and while doing that, know that you won’t be alone should you decide to act on it. I promise to help you all the way. You have all of my support.” I said reassuredly…
