Chapter 10 The mask

Chapter 10 The mask
Vivian
“Open this door, girl!” Ally yelled from outside while I rushed to get the door.
“Calm down, I’m already coming!” I yelled too and then opened the door.
“Why did you take so long? Have you got something you’re hiding from me?” She quizzed while I just rolled my eyes and turned to leave. She entered and shut the door and then followed me into the room.
“You’re such a drama Queen, you know that, huh? Why didn’t you answer me?” She pressed further.
“Because I don’t have an answer for you. It wasn’t even a minute before I got to you.” I chimed in and she also rolled her eyes now.
“Yeah, yeah, it was a minute to you but it was an hour to me.” She whined and I just couldn’t resist the laughter. Ally can be so petty and I think that’s one of the many reasons while I love her.
“Why are you not dressed though?” She quizzed while I looked confused.
“When do people started getting dressed than I do just to sit their ass in bed all day.” I said.
“Oh my goodness, there’s a party tonight. I told you about it, I can’t believe you forgot already!” She exclaimed and that was when I did a quick backtrack. She was right. She did tell me about a party but I also remember telling her that I wasn’t interested.
“Oh yeah, I remember now and I also remember telling you that I’m not interested and won’t be going so, what’s the problem here?” I quizzed while she scoffed.
“Ohh you’re going my darling. You’re going to that party to have the best time of life. And trust me, you can’t say no and if you do, I already have plans in place to get you there. So let me know what you decide now, yes or yes?” She blurted while I just stared blankly at her for a long minute.
The way she laced her words with subtle threats was so funny and I ended up laughing hard. She later joined me too anyway.
“So is it a yes or a yes?” She asked again.
“Do I even have a choice?” I asked.
“Yes you do, you can either say yes or yes. See, that’s your choice right there.” She chimed in and I just shook my head pitifully because I know I’m not getting away from her this time.
I reluctantly agreed but she didn’t care. It’s all still an agreement to her. It was already getting late and the party would be starting soon so we had to start dressing up.
Ally already came with her outfit, and she was the one picked out my too. She went into my closet and chose a nice hot gown.
“Is it just me or your closet looks a bit scanty? I mean, it used to be fuller than that and it feels like some bags are no longer there.” She let out and I felt my heart skip a beat.
Of course I know she’s really observant but my mind had totally skipped the fact that she could notice the missing items in there.
“It’s your eyes then because the closet is still the same. If anything, they’re crying for more but they won’t be getting any of that for now. I guess that’s what you noticed too. There’s always something new in there so your brain was looking for that.” I quickly turned the question and it worked because she seemed to be convinced.
“Yeah, you’re right.” She nodded and said.
She did my makeup, hair, fixed my dress and made sure I was looking so sweet.
“You need to pay me for transforming you.” She teased.
“Give the bill to my best friend, she’ll pay you.” I replied.
She got ready too and by the time we were done, Justin had also arrived to pick us up.
“Hey, Viv, how are you holding up? Ally told me you got a roommate already, that’s nice.” He let out.
“Yeah, it’s all thanks to you. And I’m holding up well too.” I replied.
The rest of the drive was a loud one as we talked about random things. We finally got there and before getting out of the car, Justin handed each of us a mask since it was a masked themed party, and anyone without it wouldn’t be let in.
Immediately we got in, Ally and her boyfriend got on the dancefloor and started having fun.
I wasn’t in the mood to dance so I found a table at the other side and settled in. I was served wine and I took my time sipping and having my own fun too.
“Hello beautiful,” the voice rang beside me and when I looked it was a really attractive man standing there.
He had a mask on too so I couldn’t see his face but I didn’t need to. I could just tell from the way his body was built that he was a handsome guy.
“Can I sit with you?” He asked while I nodded affirmatively and I expected him to take the seat across me but he sat beside me instead.
Our bodies brushed and I instantly felt shivers all over me. I couldn’t care less anymore that he sat beside me.
“So tell me, what can I do to get the attention of this beautiful woman beside me?” He asked while I smiled.
“First, you already have my attention. That’s the only reason you’re sitting here. Also, how are you sure I’m beautiful when you can’t see my face?” I quizzed and he chuckled. Even his chuckle woke something in me.
“Well, I don’t need to see your face before I know you’re beautiful. I can tell.” He let out.
He went on to talk about other things and with each word, I got so hooked till I was far gone.
He noticed that too and since the feeling seemed to be mutual, he leaned forward and we kissed. I was going to stop ih not because I didn’t like it. I actually liked it so much but it wasn’t that convenient with the mask so I wasn’t comfortable.
As I tried to pull back, his mask caught mine and when I pulled back, my mask went off and he saw my face.
I saw the shock on his face and I wasn’t sure what it was about. The first thought that came to my mind was that he finally saw my face and thinks I’m not as beau from as he imagined.
Somehow, that got to me and without thinking twice, I jumped to my feet and ran out of the place.
He got up immediately too and tried to hold me back but I was faster. I slid out of his touch and bounced…
