Chapter Forty Seven

One by one, the first group got off their bikes and headed into their rooms, but none were OUR boys. I closed the door again and walked right into Alexander's open arms.

‘They will be back soon. Now the guys are coming back, they will be here, relax, ok?’ I nodded and just held him tight.

Over the next hour, more and more returned. Most were guys I hadn’t seen before, Alex explained they were members of other chapters. Some came to our room and I heard them tell Alex the names of people they had ‘’lost’’. Meaning guys who had been killed in order to get ME back. Guys who had died… for me.

.. and then finally, Eric and Harry pulled in. I jumped up off the doorstep of our motel room and rushed over to wrap Harry in a tight hug! I had never been so glad to see him... Either of them. I pulled away from Harry and gave Eric a quick hug.

I wasn’t as close to him as I was to Harry, and he tended to be a ‘’no touchy-feely’’ kind of guy, but at the end of the day, seeing him back here, alive, was cause for a celebratory hug.

‘I’m happy to see you kid’. He told me, climbing off his bike and heading into his own room before I could respond. Harry lifted my chin with his finger and took a closer look at me, sighing.

‘Yeah, I know. They really did a number on my face, huh?’ I tried to make a light-hearted joke, but he didn’t find it funny.

‘Yeah. They did’. I took his hand and held it in mine.

‘I’m safe now. It’s all good’. He hmmm’ed. ‘Are the other guys ok?’ He looked over at Alexander and then back at me, ‘Harry?’

‘Kip and Pulp… ‘ He trailed off, shaking his head. They were dead. I looked away and closed my eyes. They were nice guys, they didn’t deserve that! ‘Tommy left before we did, he should be back soon... ‘

‘And Ron? Jackson?!’ He shook his head.

‘I don’t know. I didn’t see Ron anywhere, and Jackson sort of... Vanished. I don’t know where they are… and I don’t know… how they are’. It was all too much. I burst into tears and Harry wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest. I sobbed loudly.

I should never have come here.

The evening went on and on and on and before long, It was after 2 am, and there was still no sign of Ron or Jackson. I knew it was bad because despite them trying to hide it, I could tell Alexander and the others were starting to really worry.

It was just me, Tommy, Alex and Harry in the room, none of us could sleep I refused to leave the window. Where I sat, I had a whole view of the road and what was coming. I wasn’t leaving my spot until I saw them come back.

I could hear the guys whispering, talking privately, but I didn’t care enough to try and listen. I heard my name mentioned, but didn’t turn around. I just kept my eyes focused on the road…

...but there was no sign of them...

...even when the sun started to come up from behind the mountains... there was still no sign of them...

‘Do you want a coffee, babe?’ I looked away from the window for only a second to say ‘’Yes Please’’ to Alex and then focused back on my task again. A few minutes later he set a large cup of coffee down next to me on the windowsill and kissed my forehead.

I looked up at him again and thanked him.

‘You really should get some rest’. I shook my head.

‘I can’t.’

‘Baby, you can, please?’ I just shook my head again and he sighed, giving up and headed back over to where the guys were.

More hours passed and then, just as I was about to give up, I heard a motorbike. One bike. One person. Who was it?

I ran to the door and rushed out to wait for whoever it was. As it got close enough, I recognized it. It was Ron’s bike.

Where were Jacksons?!

Turning around and backing into the space in front of us, I couldn’t contain my happiness when I saw that it was, indeed, Ron… with Jackson on the back. Both looked pretty beat up, but both WERE alive.

As soon as the engine was off, I went over and hugged them both, Just so glad to see them!

‘Where the fuck have you been!?’ I scolded them. Jackson chuckled and climbed off the back, carefully.

‘My fault. We had to go and bandage up my leg, I took a bullet’. I gasped, horrified. ‘Don’t worry, I’m fine. I promise’. I looked at my dad.

‘And you?’

‘I’m good’. I was just so relieved! I stepped forward and wrapped him in another strong hug. He hugged me back and I was finally able to relax.

‘Come on, I’ll give you the lowdown’. Tommy and Harry appeared from behind me ‘You need to sleep’. Harry told me and for once, I agreed. Now I knew they were both safe and sound, I could hit the hay for a few hours. As if my body was answering for me, I let out a big yawn.

Ron kissed my forehead and the guys all hugged me before I headed back into the motel room and closed the door. I just assumed that Alexander would be going for the ‘’debrief’’ with the others, but instead, as soon as I climbed into the bed, He came back into the room again.

‘Want some company?’ I nodded and he got onto the bed behind me and held me tight.

‘Alex?’ He hmmm’ed. ‘When we get back to PTV, we need to talk’.

‘What about?’ I closed my eyes and snuggled back against him, not answering his question, and let sleep take over me.

I didn’t want to tell him. Not now, but the truth was, I needed to tell him that even though I loved him, I was leaving. I was going to go home and I didn’t plan on ever coming back…
