Chapter 61

Chapter 61

I felt someone lifting me up. I had no strength. I didn't know where I was. Everything was pitch black before my eyes. I seemed to hear someone say, "Mrs. Morgan has fainted..."

I seemed to have a long, long dream—no content, just dreaming endlessly.

My body felt exhausted too, as if I could barely carry my own skin.

When I woke up again, it was already dark.

The hospital room was filled with the smell of disinfectant. My eyelids were heavy. I struggled to open my eyes and saw Celestia sleeping beside me with her head on the bed.

Seeing me wake up, Faye shouted excitedly, "Blair's awake!"

Hearing this, Celestia sat up too. She rubbed her eyes, and tears immediately welled up. "Mom, you scared me to death. Why did you faint?"

I only remembered meeting Chase. He said some nasty things. I guess I'm pretty weak—I couldn't handle his nasty words and actually fainted...

"Mommy's fine, don't worry."

"Faye, how long have you two been here?"

"All afternoon. Levi came too. He had a very important client meeting today, so he left after talking to the doctor."

Levi had been here too. It seemed a bit warmer than his previous indifference.

"Have you two eaten?"

They both shook their heads. Levi must have been too busy to send someone over. Having two kids stay with me was both hard on them and not right.

"Faye, hand me my phone. I'll call Indigo to come over first, and you two go home and rest."

"Blair, Levi is on his way. He said he'll take care of you later and have the driver take us home."

Celestia hugged my arm, "Mom, I'm not going home. I want to stay and take care of you."

I shook my head, "Your wrist injury only healed a few days ago. You still need to be careful. Someone will be here to take care of me. You need to go home and rest properly."

"But I want to stay with Mom..."

Faye stroked her hair, "Your dad will take good care of your mom. We'll go back and rest, then come again tomorrow."

"Mom..."

"Listen to me."

I knew my own body. I must have fainted from getting too upset. I didn't see any external injuries on myself, so at most they'd observe me, and I could be discharged.

"Blair, we'll come again tomorrow. Text me what you want to eat, and I'll bring it tomorrow."

Faye was a woman of action. I really appreciated that about her.

"Okay."

"Levi just texted. He's downstairs. We'll head down now."

"Okay."

They had just reached the door when it suddenly swung open, and Arabella strutted in arrogantly...

"Well, well, looking pretty lively, aren't we? I thought you'd fallen to your death."

There was no one else in the room. Arabella didn't hold back. She'd had conflicts with Faye before and didn't take her seriously.

Celestia got scared and shrank back, "Mom..."

I gripped the bed sheet tightly and sat up.

Arabella rolled her eyes at me, "Chase came home and told me you fainted. I thought something was wrong, but looking at you now, you seem fine."

As she spoke, Arabella reached out her hand. She seemed to want to grab my arm.

Thinking she was going to hurt me, Celestia stepped in front. This immediately enraged Arabella, "You little brat, what are you doing!"

Arabella shoved Celestia aside. Celestia lost her balance and fell backward, her back hitting the cabinet before bouncing onto the floor...

She instinctively reached out to catch herself. I clearly heard the sound of bone cracking. Celestia burst into tears...

"Mom, my hand hurts so much, my back hurts too..."

Faye stepped forward and shoved Arabella aside, "You old witch, how dare you hurt my family! I won't let you get away with this!"

Arabella stumbled backward in pain. Faye lunged forward and grabbed her by the throat, "I'll kill you!"

I hurried to get out of bed, but my legs were weak. I held onto the bedside and first pulled Celestia into my arms.

Arabella struggled instinctively. She grabbed Faye's hair and the two of them started fighting...

"Faye, let her go. Go find security. Don't fight with her."

I was afraid Faye would get hurt. I'd seen how vicious Arabella could be. She was pretty strong.

"What are you all doing!"

Levi's shout made both Faye and Arabella let go.

Faye glared at Arabella while backing toward Levi's side.

"Levi, she pushed Celestia. Celestia is probably hurt."

At the same time, the medical staff who received my call button came over.

"Doctor, please check my daughter. I just heard the sound of bone cracking..."

I gritted my teeth and stood up. Levi placed our daughter on the hospital bed.

The doctor felt Celestia's arm, "Does it hurt here?"

"Yes..."

Celestia cried her heart out. She must have been in terrible pain, and probably also scared by Arabella.

Levi's face darkened. He turned to look at Arabella, "I've called the police."

"You call the police? I'm calling the police too! She nearly strangled me to death. My neck is still red..."

Arabella threatened to call the police, too.

"Doctor, please prepare an injury report."

Levi was truly angry. He wouldn't allow anyone to hurt his daughter. Last time when Jessa caused Celestia's injury, he had tolerated it. This time, he wouldn't let it go.

"You people are such a pain."

Arabella muttered as she tried to leave.

Faye stepped forward to block her, "Don't think you can just walk away. This isn't over!"

"Get out of my way!"

"Don't think nobody knows about those shameful things you've done!"

My heart sank. Was Faye about to expose Arabella's secrets?

"You little girl, don't make false accusations."

"We need to take the child for examination. A family member needs to come along."

"I'll go."

Levi was going to accompany Celestia for the injury examination.

Arabella tried to sneak away, but hospital security suddenly came in.

In such a short time, how did they know we had a situation here? Did Levi have connections at this hospital?

"Mr. Morgan, the director said to follow your instructions."

Levi stared at Arabella, "Watch her. Wait for the police."

The security couldn't just restrain Arabella randomly. Since she wasn't cooperating, they temporarily kept her in my hospital room.

Arabella was verbally abusive and tried to leave several times. After failing a few attempts, she sat in a chair and started making phone calls and sending messages.

"This is illegal, not letting me leave. You'll all pay for this."

I didn't want to argue with her anymore. Whoever was guilty knew it in their heart.

After a long while, the police arrived.

They had Celestia's examination report. Celestia had new injuries on top of old ones. This time was more serious than before. Hearing this broke my heart.

"Arabella, you're suspected of intentional assault. We're now detaining you according to the law."

"You're wrongly accusing a good person! She intentionally hurt me, too! She choked my neck—here's the evidence. I want an injury examination too..."

The police dragged Arabella away. The hospital room finally became quiet.

Faye clutched her chest, "Blair, you shouldn't have stopped me. I wanted to smash her mouth!"
