Chapter 125

Chapter 125

On the day Nola and John got their marriage certificate, we agreed to celebrate New Year's Eve together.

The four-person trip I had promised turned into everyone coming to our place to eat, drink, and welcome the new year together.

Levi and I started getting busy from noon, and with everyone's help, the courtyard was decorated perfectly.

Indigo brought me a coat. "Mrs. Morgan, everything's ready. Please don't catch a cold."

"I'm fine. It's warmer today than yesterday. Since the new year is almost here, tell me your New Year's wish, and I'll definitely help make it come true."

"My wish has already come true. I hope you two are happy. Look how good Mr. Morgan is to you now. The house has never been this lively, and he's doing everything himself."

I smiled. "That's because friends are coming. He's putting on a show."

"Hehe, if you praise him, he'll be really happy. Even as a child, when he was praised, he'd hide away, feeling pleased." Indigo grew up with him and sometimes understood him better than his own mother.

Levi walked over and put away the remaining string lights.

"The last time I did this was when I was a kid."

Indigo took the things from his hands. "Let me do it. You two go change your clothes. New year, new look. I've prepared all the food, so you don't need to worry about anything."

"Okay, you go rest too. There shouldn't be anything else to do."

I also wanted to give her time off, but I really couldn't manage everything on my own. Levi could do physical work, but cooking wasn't his strong suit.

Indigo giggled. "I won't disturb you two. Just enjoy yourselves."

Levi pulled out a red envelope from his pocket. "Indigo, thank you for taking care of our family. Happy New Year!"

"Oh my, I got a red envelope too!"

I joined in happily. "Yeah, and I haven't gotten one yet. Our Mr. Morgan really spent big today."

Levi knew I was joking. He patted his sleeve. "I didn't get one either."

I nodded. Well then, we'll just be two poor souls without red envelopes.

When we finished changing clothes, Nola and the others came in carrying bags of all sizes.

The bright red sweater Levi prepared made me want to complain. I hadn't worn festive colors in a long time. Every holiday, I missed my mother, so I rarely wore red.

"Oh my god, Blair, what are the odds? All four of us are wearing matching outfits!"

Nola hugged me excitedly. It seemed her newlywed life was going well—happiness was written all over her face.

I looked at John. "You picked this style and recommended it to him, didn't you?"

"You're so smart."

John exchanged a look with Levi. "See? Told you it would work. She's just too low-key. Red is so festive."

"Exactly."

He and Levi were in perfect sync.

Nola pouted. "Festive, sure, but a bit tacky. If it weren't New Year's tomorrow, I wouldn't have agreed to wear this no matter what."

"Not true. You two just got married, you should wear some red." I remembered Rhea telling me something similar before.

Back then, Levi refused to wear it. His clothes were almost all black.

Thinking about this, I realized he was changing.

"Oh, you're into this stuff now, too? Looks like I still have a lot to learn." Nola joked.

All four of us laughed.

John grinned. "Levi, you must have good wine at your place, right? Last time we didn't drink enough. Today, let's drink till we drop."

"Yes, it's ready."

Last time it wasn't about not drinking enough—the two of them together couldn't even take Levi down. I really didn't know Levi's alcohol tolerance had no limit.

I always thought he couldn't handle alcohol well, since he never touched a drop at home.

"Then let's get started?"

"Blair, don't laugh at us, but we haven't eaten anything since we woke up. We've been running around delivering gifts to relatives."

"Do you have to deliver to all of them?"

Nola waved her hand. "Not exactly, but his family gets along really well, and they almost all live together, so it wouldn't look good not to give to everyone."

"My family is big and thriving, haha. You'll get used to it."

Levi stood up. "Then let's go to the dining room and eat something first."

"Yes, yes, yes."

The two of them went ahead. Nola looked out the window. "Blair, your place is decorated so beautifully. Can I look around first?"

"Of course. I'll come with you."

Nola grabbed my arm. "I'll just look around myself. You keep an eye on him for me, don't let him talk nonsense and give your husband bad ideas."

I smiled softly. "I wish Levi were half as cheerful as your husband."

The three of us ate, drank, and chatted about this and that in the dining room.

John talked the most. He was good at finding topics, and several times his teasing of Nola had Levi and me laughing.

Just as we were talking about childhood stories, Nola ran in.

"Oh my god, I can't believe it. Levi, you're that mysterious client from our company, right? I'm telling you, I didn't mean to. I was just curious about how such a big room could look so beautiful."

I didn't understand what she was rambling about.

Nola took a sip of wine, collected herself, and continued. "I just got curious and peeked into that room, and it's completely filled with our star series!"

"It's so spectacular. Strung on the lights, they really look like twinkling stars in the sky. Blair, you didn't buy them all yourself just to boost sales, did you?"

I would never do that. I've always been calm about the Star series—people who get it will naturally appreciate it.

John put down his utensils. "Let me guess."

"Our wealthy Mr. Morgan, to help you compete with what's-his-name's moon series, waved his hand and bought the entire product line."

I stared at Levi. I wanted to know the answer.

Nola sighed. "That would be so crazy. A whole room full of stars."

Levi leaned back lazily. "It was me. No matter what tricks others pull, I only love stars."

"Oh my god, Blair, I never would have thought he's such a romantic. If this isn't romantic, I really don't know what is."

Nola looked at me with envious eyes.

I was completely stunned. I really never imagined Levi would support me like this. I had planned to ignore Michael's provocation, but he used real money to boost my work's sales.

"I need to learn from this. I knew everyone praised him for a reason—he must have something special." John started blowing rainbow bubbles again. He was really a Levi's loyal fan.

Levi raised his glass. "Happy New Year to us all!"

"Happy New Year!"

"Happy New Year!"

My brain nearly short-circuited. I raised my glass too, saying "Happy New Year!"

Levi's words kept echoing in my ears. He said he only loves stars. Was this his way of confessing to me?

I gave him one pink star, and he bought a whole room full of "stars"?

This will probably keep me happy all next year. Even if he makes me angry, thinking of this devotion will be his get-out-of-jail-free card.

I always thought I would never be happy again, but at this moment, I'm certain I'm very happy.
