All of us sat down on the benches cause that’s what they called it and Chase went to get us some drinks back in the house. A few minutes later 30 men were gathered outside and we could here chase speaking so we went towards them. My parents were grabbing their things
“father, let Valerie come-” Chase started talking but his dad cut his sentence.
“Her parents don’t want involvement and neither do I, they will take her back home. This is a gang personal matter, Chase” he pointed at one of the two men next to him who then tried to escort me by grabbed my arm and before the man could pull me I twisted his hand and had my silver knife at his throat. All the other men pointed their guns at me.
I looked at his father, “touch me and he will kill you,” I told the man pointing my knife at chase. Chase looked Lance at in an angry manner demanding an explanation.
Mario, the guy I held hostage was trying to squirm.
“Chase, we do not have time for this”. Anderson said from behind.
“stand back everyone we cannot harm her, she’s more than skilled to fight back,” as everyone put their guns down Chase turned to his father and whispered something in his ear.
Meanwhile I turned to Mario who was turning red due to lack of oxygen, “will Mario ever touch me again?” I whispered sharply and he gave me a strained no, “good Mario” I replied and released him. When I looked back up Chase’s father nodded at my parents who were sitting in a car next to us, already.
“You’ll need her Lance.” My dad said and gave me a, be professional look. Chase and I then joined Lance in his car to get debriefed on the way.
“where are we headed? I asked, “what’s wrong?”
“my sister’s house was broken into, reports say it’s someone new who is trying to gain power. Meera always wanted to live the normal life and she’s married to an army man with security so we thought she would be okay, she has a little boy aged 5 and neighbours heard screams of all 3 of them but the network in the area has been cut off so no connection can be made. No one around will go an asses as everyone’s scared, the guards have been killed. We got a recording of their screams send to us. It looks like only 5 men but why would they do this, there is no benefit to torturing my sister. It declaration of an open war.” Chase’s father stated. Chase was in his own zone since he stepped into the car.
“how many entry ways to the house and how many floors and rooms.” I asked going directly into business mode. I have a suspicion it is Charles again who could be behind this but I would need to see the state of the house to make it fit his M.O.
“there are 4 rooms and just 1 floor. She lives in a secure neighbourhood, we won’t need to go in to rescue them my men will handle that but we need to reach there as soon as we can before any permeant damage happens.”
“where are we going? What area?” I rushed
“Nashville.”
I made eye contact with Chase. Nashwille was a 25 minute drive from his house and a 10 minute one from mine. He gave me a curt nod and my speed dial was ready.
“Laurence, I have a code green, I’m sending you the address I need eyes and take Franco and Natasha with you. Three people one child approximate 5 men, this is a family situation. Do not terminate just restrain them, if it comes to it kill them but keep one alive for me. We’ll debrief about this tomorrow. How far out are you? Ok in 75 seconds the phones will get cut, I need network up in 3 minutes and less” I cut the call. “They were 4 minutes out and would reach the house 15 minutes before us. Franco is our hacker and shooter, Natasha is our strategizer and a pro a sneaking into places and Davon is my right hand.”
“I don’t know how I can repay you. Normally I wouldn’t allow this" he paused, "involvement but my sister’s life is more important than ego right now.” Lance says but I cut him off,
“there is no need for that sir, just forgive me for the threat earlier on your men, I just don’t like to be touched.” I told him trying to get the mood a little lighter. My men would handle the case Chase and I knew that but Lance was a little sceptical.
“I can do that. You get that from your mother, I would know those knife skills anywhere, even if I didn’t meet your parents in years. And please call me Lance” he said.
He said after a minute and for the first time tonight I saw Lance relax a little.
