I tried keeping my calm.
“yes Val, tell me where you need me.” Anderson said
“nope” I dismissed this thought all together, “this is what I do Chase, I don’t want to pull rank, but I will if you continue this conversation.” I said and he went blank again. Thinking.
“I know the law, I know they are yours so you get to decide but I don’t have a good feeling when it comes to that man.” He said referring to Charles.
“I will add more security details.” I said and he nodded, “I trust my men, they are very competent and trained by me, adding more security details them is a direct judgement on my training and their work. But I will too keep you mentally secure” I said and rolled my eyes, this man knows how to tease my ego.
“wait what will happen once you guys take over the gangs?” Payton asked out of nowhere
“well, we’re obviously going to merge.” Chase replied without a beat of hesitation, which warmed a bit of the coldness out of me.
“we’ll discuss it when the time comes.” I said dismissing his cute fantasy.
“nope. We’re merging. That’s why they are down there, to make plans.”
“what?” I asked him. This is new information.
“if they merge before we take over who will handle everything?”
“we’re merging after we take over. Either its due to the death of the parents or they step down.”
“who is going to take full control then, Chase?” I asked again and the room went quiet awaiting his response.
“the parents want to decide and put it in the will but I did overhear your mom say something about...” He said and paused then looked around towards his gang
“about what?” I said and he shook his head but his left hand was scratching his left ring finger.
“valid.” I responded and a deep blush occurred on both our faces
“what the fuck just happened?” Mila asked and everyone who understood laughed
“I'm doing the torturing alone.” I stated and he nodded
“you're meeting me before and right after.” He said. Then he got off the bed and threw a box to me. “and you're wearing this.”
“what is that?” Payton asked
“should we go out the room again for this?” Mila said and rolled her eyes, nothing about her told me she was moving from her comfy spot on the bean bag
“fuck no I wanna know what boss man is up to” Anderson replied
I opened the box and it was an all-black bracelet with one red bead.
“is this a message bracelet?” I asked looking up at him from the bed.
“yep. I have the other set. Red and black.” He said putting his on his hand, “it’s so I'm there when I can’t be” he smiled. A genuine smile. I put the bracelet on while he came and sat next to me. I faced him and gave him a peck on his lip.
“thank you.” I said and smiled
“you’re welcome.” He replied, smiled back and gave me a peck again.
The world seemed to disappear for that one millisecond. Then Vince cleared his throat and it appeared as quick as a snap. All of them were staring at us like we were a romance movie.
“okay, cut it off. Let’s go and play some games.” Chase said and we all beelined out of his room to the ground behind it.
“why are there so many cars here” I asked
“we’re gonna select one of these to race in, whoever wants to win the bet. Payton and I are going to sit near the end of the track.” Anderson said, “you're gonna have to select a car, guests first.”
I looked at Chase and he smirked at me, this was like a test, to see how much I knew. Well fuck.
If I was him what would I chose.
I looked at all the cars; blue, black, green, yellow. All looked similar. I looked at Anderson for help but he just looked away as he can’t be involved in this. Great.
I was about to just close my eyes and point when I felt a presence behind me,
“one of these cars is mine, and it has the most power here, you wouldn’t even need skill to win if you drive that. Not that you cannot master a skill within seconds given a chance.” Chase whispered in my right ear. I was very aware of his presence as my body did a full reaction to a cold wind vibe when it decided to get goose bumps all over and send chills down my spine. I might not know cars, but body language was one thing I could read, and with him, it was like I was a raindrop to his running river.
